Fall = Flu Season
Fall means crunchy leaves, a nip in the air and everything pumpkin spice. Unfortunately, it's also the start of the influenza ("flu") season.

Health care providers who have contact with patients/residents are the primary source of infectious disease outbreaks in health care facilities. Like many health care systems and facilities, Bon Secours believes that an annual flu vaccine or masking for all health care workers and others across the continuum of care prior to influenza season is the right thing to do to protect patients, visitors and health care personnel.
Bon Secours Health System requires all employees, affiliated medical staff, volunteers and others who work in its facilities (including students over the age of 18, contractors and vendors) to receive the seasonal influenza vaccination.
Employees who choose not to get the flu vaccination must wear a surgical mask at work for the duration of the flu season when working at any Bon Secours patient care facility.
Proof of receiving the flu vaccination must be completed and submitted to Employee Health or Human Resources by Nov. 1.
Employee Health will provide the influenza vaccine free of charge to all Bon Secours Health System employees, credentialed medical staff, Board members, and all volunteers. Get flu clinic schedules for Hampton Roads and Richmond.

3-D Mammography Comes to DePaul Medical Center
The Women's Imaging Center at DePaul Medical Center now has 3-D mammography technology. The technology, when combined with conventional 2-D mammography, has a greater detection rate of invasive cancer than conventional 2-D mammography alone, helping doctors diagnose cancer at an earlier stage. When caught early, five-year survival rates for breast cancer are as high as 98 percent.

To assist with addressing high mortality rates, Bon Secours is investing in new technologies like 3-D mammography to ensure we have the latest tools to detect breast cancer at its earliest possible stage. Our health system has invested more than $550,000 to bring this new technology and donors to the Bon Secours Foundation, including the Pink Ride organization that raised more than $100,000 to help make the purchase possible.
