Complete Your PHA
by Aug. 31

What's the best thing you can do for your health this August? Your Personal Health Assessment!

Find out what your lab numbers and biometric results say about the state of your health. With this knowledge, you can make a plan to feel better and lower your risk for disease. Our free and confidential PHA takes just minutes, as you can schedule a time that is convenient for you. The deadline for the 2016 PHA is Aug. 31.

You must complete both parts of the assessment:

1.  Do the wellness profile at BonSecoursWellness.com.
2.  Complete the biometric screening by downloading a physician verification form and visiting your doctor, scheduling an on-site screening or getting a voucher to go to a designated LabCorp facility. All three are found here.

If you're covered by a Bon Secours Medical Plan, you can earn a $300 in your Health Reimbursement Account (HRA).

What we eat and drink throughout the day plays a huge role in how we feel. Eating healthy is not only great for adults, it's also great for kids! Spending time with your kids in the kitchen encourages them to learn about food, have fun, and understand the importance of healthy eating.

Try some of the recipe ideas in the August SimplyFresh blog, like Apple & Cheese Quesadillas, and get a head start on fall!

Put Your HRA to Use

August is Children's Eye Health and Safety Month. If your child needs glasses for back to school, remember to use the money you've saved in your Health Reimbursement Account. If you have questions, please contact ConnectYourCare.

Vaccines Protect Children

As we celebration National Immunization Awareness Month in August, remember vaccinating according to the recommended immunization schedule provides your child with the best protection against preventable diseases.

Many vaccine-preventable diseases can easily spread in child care and school settings. Protecting your children from preventable diseases will help keep them healthy and in school. Talk to your child's doctor or other health care professional to make sure your children get the vaccinations they need when they need them. Get immunization schedules here.

Question: I have recently completed my on-site biometrics, but I have not received my incentive yet, nor has my data been loaded into BonSecoursWellness.com. Where will the results be displayed and when can I expect to see my incentive on my HRA card?

Answer: Thank you so much for taking part in the biometric screenings during our annual Personal Health Assessment time frame. The results from your fasting labs will take three to four weeks to be uploaded onto your wellness profile on the website. Once your data has been loaded, you will receive a notification email to log in and review your biometrics. After receiving this email, please allow an additional three to four weeks for your incentive to be processed and added to your ConnectYourCare account. If you've misplaced your card, please contact HROC toll-free at 855-336-7600.

Check Out DePaul's Fitness Center

DePaul Employee Fitness Center Strength Room

Have you taken advantage of the DePaul Employee Fitness Center? Hear what your colleagues think about this free resource:

"I recently utilized the DMC Fitness Center and was impressed with the amenities. There are two rooms of cardio equipment, so I felt that I could visit anytime and be able to use one of the machines. The strength room had good detailed posters, displaying different exercises. I especially like the pulley strength machine that gives you multiple exercise options. I feel fortunate to work for Bon Secours and want to thank them for investing in the well-being of their employees."

---  Tara Briggs
Practice Manager, Neuroscience Center

"The new DePaul Employee Fitness Center has a very comfortable atmosphere and plenty of workout options for every employee to benefit from. It's an awesome thing that the company has done for us, everyone should take advantage of this great opportunity!"

---  Daphne Kigler
Patient Registrar, Neuroscience Center

Remember, the Fitness Center is open to all Bon Secours Hampton Roads employees.

before and after
Lynn Wynn before and after the Diabetes Prevention Program.

When Lynn Wynn signed up in February for the Diabetes Prevention Program, she wasn't sure what to expect. Her husband is diabetic, and she wanted to learn more about the disease in order to help him.

"I had been doing the Wellness Incentives, because I got $900 in credits," said Wynn, an administrative assistant for support services/safety and security at Maryview Medical Center, "but with the influence and help from my co-workers, I realized how important it is to be healthy."

Wynn credits Abigail Walsh, Wellness program analyst, and classmates in her lunchtime group with helping her plan healthier meals, make better choices in the supermarket, and learn to prepare foods during the weekend for the entire week. "The group atmosphere and support of the instructors was great."

Get Ready for Flu Season

Again this year, Bon Secours Health System is requiring that all employees, credentialed medical staff, volunteers and others who work in one of our sick doggie patient care facilities (including students over the age of 18, contractors and vendors who work for, provide services to or otherwise do business with Bon Secours Health System) receive the seasonal influenza vaccination.

Specified individuals (employees, board members and credentialed medical staff) who choose not to get the flu vaccination MUST wear a surgical mask for the duration of the flu season when working at any Bon Secours patient care facility. Proof of receiving the flu vaccination must be completed and submitted to Employee Wellness by Nov. 1.
