Focus on: Stars & Stripes ERG
Bon Secours Virginia is proud to support former and active military personnel. One way we do this is through our Stars & Stripes Employee Resource Group (ERG).
Its goals include:
 |
To promote and enhance employee engagement thru active participation in support of those who've served our country throughout our facilities as well as in the communities we serve.
| |
To increase recruitment and retention of veterans and others through our supportive actions.
| |
To explore new ideas of partnering with our military community, reinforcing our mission of "Good Help to Those In Need."
| |
To provide volunteer opportunities in support of our active and veteran military service members and their families.
|
Volunteering at the Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center and holding drives for the Richmond Fisher House, which supports veteran's families while they receive treatment at the Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center, are just some of the ways our employees work together to make a difference.
As we celebrate Memorial Day, remember to thank veterans for their service and to remember those who gave their lives for our country.

"We are so proud of our service men and women, prior and present, that we felt the need to give back," said Gary Alston, chair of the ERG. "We have five platforms established to do just that: Community Outreach, Troop Outreach, Veterans Views, Celebrate & Honor, and Enlist & Engage. We're at our best when we're helping others, so please consider joining one or more of our teams."

More Blood Drives Scheduled as Employees Rally to Donate
In our recent Red Cross Blood Drive at St. Mary's Hospital, we hoped to receive 40 units of blood. But at the end of the day, employees donated more than 58 units! Those precious donations of blood represent saved lives. Thank you to all who donated.
"All Richmond-area hospitals depend on the American Red Cross for our blood supplies so it is important that we support Red Cross blood donation efforts," said Jim Godwin, vice president of Human Resources, Bon Secours Virginia. "Our employees' ongoing generosity will ensure that our patients get the blood they need when they need it."
Our next blood drive will be June 24 at Memorial Regional Medical Center. To make an appointment, call 800-733-2767, visit www.redcrossblood.org, Sponsor Code: memorial, or download the free Red Cross Blood Donor app. Save time by pre-registering with RapidPass at www.redcrossblood.org/RapidPass.
Walk-ins are also welcome, but may have wait time. Everyone who donates will be entered to win a grand prize.
Each pint of blood you donate can save up to three lives.
