Good Help for 50 Years

St. Mary's Hospital 50th Anniversary

On Feb. 15, St. Mary's Hospital celebrated the 50th anniversary of serving our first patient. Here's to 50 more great years!

Did you know? St. Mary's opened with 169 beds; today we have nearly 400!

A History of Providing
the Best Care to All

Bon Secours has a long record of serving everyone, regardless of race, religion or ability to pay. In 1881, our Bon Secours ministry arrived in the United States to continue the work begun in Paris of caring for the poor, sick and dying in their homes.

Soon after that, Sarah Garland Jones became the first black female physician certified to practice medicine in Virginia and went on to found what is now Richmond Community Hospital. When St. Mary's Hospital opened in 1966, it was the first fully integrated hospital in Virginia.

Today, we're helping revitalize underserved communities. Through charitable care and healthy communities initiatives ---  gardens, healthy eating, access to health care, job skills training ---  we are committed to taking our ministry where the need resides.

Health Insurance Information
Coming Soon
As part of the federal Affordable Care Act, large employers must send an annual statement about the health insurance that they offer. Bon Secours will provide this information on the IRS 1095-C form, which will be sent to employees by March 31. The new form relates to the federal requirement that all individuals have health insurance coverage, and will contain the following:
green bulletInformation about Bon Secours, you, and any dependents you covered under the Bon Secours Medical Plan.
green bulletThe months during the year when you and your dependents were eligible for coverage from Bon Secours.
green bulletThe cost of the lowest monthly premium you could have paid under the Bon Secours plan.
health insuranceWhile Bon Secours is required to send this form to all employees, it does not need to be filed as part of your taxes. Rather, the document should be kept with your other income tax documents, in the event the IRS wishes to determine whether you had health coverage offered to you. It can also be used to determine a dependent's eligibility to access the health care insurance exchange or a cost subsidy for health coverage.
