Celebrate Your BF@W
Each year, our Bon Secours employee engagement survey asks employees to assess the statement: "I have a best friend at work," which means someone has your back. Studies show that employees with a best friend at work tend to be more focused, more passionate and more loyal to their organizations. They get sick less often, suffer fewer accidents, and change jobs less frequently. They even have more satisfied customers.
We've had photo booths in our facilities this week. Look for photos of best friends at work coming in the next issue! |

 Need Help Preparing Taxes?
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax help to people who generally make $54,000 or less, persons with disabilities, the elderly and limited-English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns.
IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals. In addition to VITA, the Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) program offers free tax help for all taxpayers, particularly those who are 60 years of age and older.
IRS volunteers will be working at sites across Virginia during tax season. See the IRS website for more information.

Health Insurance Information Coming Soon
As part of the federal Affordable Care Act, large employers must send an annual statement about the health insurance that they offer. Bon Secours will provide this information on the IRS 1095-C form, which will be sent to employees by March 31. The new form relates to the federal requirement that all individuals have health insurance coverage, and will contain the following:
 | Information about Bon Secours, you, and any dependents you covered under the Bon Secours Medical Plan. | | The months during the year when you and your dependents were eligible for coverage from Bon Secours. | | The cost of the lowest monthly premium you could have paid under the Bon Secours plan. |
While Bon Secours is required to send this form to all employees, it does not need to be filed as part of your taxes. Rather, the document should be kept with your other income tax documents, in the event the IRS wishes to determine whether you had health coverage offered to you. It can also be used to determine a dependent's eligibility to access the health care insurance exchange or a cost subsidy for health coverage.

Medicaid Expansion Often Misunderstood, Says BSMG Executive
Click here to read a column from the Richmond Times-Dispatch about Medicaid expansion in Virginia co-authored by Robert J. Fortini, vice president and chief clinical officer of Bon Secours Medical Group.
"Opponents never stop spreading misinformation about health reform, especially when the General Assembly is in town," the column notes. "Luckily, facts are stubborn, and evidence is pouring in from other states to validate proponents' claims: Support for Medicaid expansion can be (and should be) bipartisan."
