Do you want to enroll in, drop or change your Medical, Dental, Vision, Life or Disability Plans? Open Enrollment, July 6-24, is your window of opportunity.

Benefits you enrolled in last year will continue unless you make a change.

What you need to know

green bulletYou're covered! If your coverage is what you need, you don't need to do anything. Your current benefits will roll over to next year. The new Plan Year begins Sept. 1.
green bulletPremiums and plans remain the same. However, there is a new $8 per pay charge for spouses or legally domiciled adults (LDAs) if they are enrolled in a Bon Secours Medical Plan, whether or not they are eligible for other coverage. Check out the details in the special Open Enrollment section on AskHR.

New enrollment tool. There's a new online enrollment tool (review a PDF on IRIS or a PDF offline) to sign up or make changes for the next Plan Year available during the Open Enrollment period. Find the tool at ezAccess/AskHR. Log in using your BSHSI credentials. Once you are logged in, you will click on "Open Enrollment" under the "My Benefits Enrollment" section. You can also access it from the special Open Enrollment link on IRIS (see screenshot). Get seven essential tips here.

green bulletWhat am I currently enrolled in? If you're unsure of your current coverage, go to ezAccess/AskHR while on a computer at work. There, you can check your current benefits summary.

Where do I enroll?

During Open Enrollment, you will use a new online tool to sign up and make changes to your benefits. To access the new enrollment tool:

From work: Go to BSHSI's home page on IRIS (the BSHSI intranet) and click on ezAccess/AskHR under Quick Link, or, during Open Enrollment, click on the special Open Enrollment link in the center of the page. You must log in using your BSHSI credentials. Once you are logged in, you will click on "Open Enrollment" under the "My Benefits Enrollment" section.

From home: Go to  www.bshsi.org and click on ezAccess/AskHR at the top of the page. You must log in using your BSHSI credentials. Once you are logged in, you will click on "Open Enrollment" under the "My Benefits Enrollment" section.

During the ceremony, one of many conducted by Bon Secours, the Pledge of Allegiance is recited, a certificate awarded, and a pin placed on the veteran's chest. Read more about this special program.

Interested in Volunteering at the Family Centers? Youths from 13- to 15-years-old may volunteer in the Family Centers. To apply, contact the Family Center most convenient to you. Teen volunteers assist with games, lesson planning, art projects, story time and more. Teens earn volunteer service hours and will enjoy a special recognition banquet at the end of the summer.

On Oct. 1, Bon Secours Virginia ---  and all U.S. health care systems ---  will implement a new system for diagnosis and procedure documentation, called the International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-10), which replaces the current ICD-9 system.

Bon Secours Coding and Compliant Documentation Management Program (CDMP) departments and our providers have begun training to ensure a smooth transition. Until Oct. 1, they'll be learning what they need to know at sessions such as this recent one at St. Francis Medical Center.

Godwin Speaks to U.S. Senate

Jim Godwin testifies before the Senate Committee on Aging 

Jim Godwin, vice president for Human Resources for Bon Secours Virginia, testified before the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging last week. During the hearing, titled "Work in Retirement: Career Reinvention and the New Retirement Workscape," Godwin shared how Bon Secours' flexible scheduling options and benefits help our health system attract and retain older workers.

Also testifying at the hearing were Dr. Sara Rix, a working and aging consultant, Kerry Hannon, a contributing editor at Forbes magazine and Susan Nordman, a small business owner.

Washington Redskins fans attend training camp  

Are you ready for some football? The Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Camp kicks off on July 30.

Redskins logo The schedule runs through Aug. 16, with Fan Appreciation Day on Aug. 15. The team will not require tickets for Fan Appreciation Day this year, though free tickets will need to be obtained from the Redskins' website to attend the joint practice with Houston on Aug. 8.

Most days, the team will conduct a walkthrough at 10:35 a.m. and a full practice at 3 p.m. Click here for a full schedule. Read more.
