ICD-10 Training is Under Way
|
On Oct. 1, Bon Secours Virginia --- and all healthcare systems in the U.S. --- will implement a new system for diagnosis and procedure documentation, called the International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM), which replaces the current ICD-9-CM system.
Bon Secours Coding and Compliant Documentation Management Program (CDMP) departments and our providers have begun training to ensure a smooth transition.
|
"Our job is to help physicians document more accurately and more specifically, helping to reflect the true clinical picture of that patient. That helps ensure good care. It also can help with external profiling, our scores, compliance, accurate reimbursement and clarity of medical record. All that helps with Bon Secours mission to provide good help."
--- Janine Conley, Compliant Documentation Specialist, St. Francis Medical Center

Radiation Therapy Helps Fight Breast Cancer
The Bon Secours Cancer Institute at DePaul has become the first radiation therapy center in Hampton Roads to offer AccuBoost, a new, noninvasive technology for women with early stage breast cancer.
The AccuBoost technology helps to take the uncertainty out of daily patient positioning and dose targeting. And because the boost dose directs the radiation parallel to the chest wall, the exposure to the organs below the chest wall is substantially reduced.
