Top Workplaces 2015 Honors
Bon Secours Richmond
Bon Secours Richmond is a top place to work! The health system was honored last week at the Top Workplaces 2015 event, in an award program conducted by the Richmond Times-Dispatch and Workplace Dynamics.
Workplace Dynamics surveyed employees about numerous topics affecting workplace life, from pay and benefits to training and work-life balance. Employers who scored the highest locally --- and met national benchmarks --- made the finalist list. "Being recognized on this list helps Bon Secours attract and retain the best talent," said Jim Godwin, vice president of Human Resources. "It's another way our health system distinguishes itself from others."
Bon Secours Richmond was one of five finalists in the mega-company group (those with 1,000-plus employees). It also earned the Top Workplaces designation in 2014, the award's inaugural year.

It's National Hospital Week, running through May 16. This year's theme is "Where Miracles Happen Every Day."
National Hospital Week celebrates hospitals and the men and women who support the health of their communities through dedication and compassionate care. It also recognizes the miracles --- both large and small --- they help make happen on a day-to-day basis.
This week is a time to recognize the miracles our employees help create every day by providing good help to those in need. Thank you to everyone!

Payroll Deduction Changes Take Effect
As part of the transition to the new Benefits Enrollment tool on ezAccess/AskHR, employees may notice some changes in the way their benefit deductions are displayed on their paychecks beginning this month. These changes do not signal a change in the amount of the deduction, just the way they will be displayed.
Changes include:
 | Working Spouse Surcharge: If you have a surcharge for a working spouse/legally domiciled adult, it will now be broken out separately from your overall medical premium and will be listed as Working Adult Surcharge. The amount has not changed. | | Spouse Life: The Life Insurance deduction will no longer include the coverage amount. It will be listed as Spouse Life. |
To view your complete deduction, go to ezAccess/AskHR, or contact HROC at 855-336-7600 or 804-887-7600.

Maryview Nursing Care Center Launches Telemedicine Program

As part of a Bon Secours Health System initiative to improve health outcomes for nursing care residents and ultimately reduce hospital re-admissions, Maryview Nursing Care Center recently launched a telemedicine program.
The telemedicine unit is a portable web-based communication system that is rolled into a resident's room. A physician can see the resident through the monitor, zoom in on a specific area and receive information such as temperature and blood pressure. In addition, the resident can view and talk with the physician. Read more.

Authentication Process Will Improve IS Security
In response to the recent increase in security threats and hacking attempts around the world, Bon Secours Health System will implement a two-factor authentication process this summer to help secure remote access to its information system (IS) resources. Those who access Bon Secours IS resources outside of a Bon Secours facility will be affected by this change.
Two-factor authentication is an extra layer of security that requires not only a username and password but also a dynamic (changing) six-digit code, which makes it harder for potential intruders to gain unauthorized access.
Look for more information soon. In the meantime, contact CultureofSecurity@bshsi.org should you have questions or concerns.
