Kevin Tente
A strong team is the key ingredient in our ability to tell clients' stories in the most memorable, compelling way. Recently, Kevin Tente joined our team to help us continue reaching that goal. A skilled writer, Kevin is a 2014 Providence College grad who was recently a policy researcher in the R.I. General Treasurer's office. At PC he was a musician, a Division 1 athlete on the school's swim team and a research assistant at Brown University's School of Engineering. That research background is probably why Kevin has a knack for plucking out just the right nugget to drive home our clients' key messages.

We're glad to welcome Kevin aboard.

Best,

...And Great Interns, Too
A dynamic trio of summer interns put together two reports to shed light on the money that drove the 2014 elections here in Rhode Island. Nathan McGuire (Boston College, 2016), Kate Mancosh (Furman University, 2017) and Matthew Romano (Boston College, 2018) worked to find answers to two key questions:
The answer in both instances - very little.

The trio's work was highlighted in the R.I. Society of CPAs on-line magazine "What Counts" and even earned a mention as #6 in Ted Nesi's widely-read weekly round up on state politics and government.

Meanwhile, our fall intern Eddie Pannone has a cool job - the Rhode Island College senior is an on-field reporter for 27OutsBaseball.com, the leading source for everything you need to know about minor league baseball. Eddie, who covers the Pawtucket Red Sox, says there's nothing like being in the clubhouse to interview players from the parent Boston team when they come down to Pawtucket for rehab stint. Click here to take a look at Eddie's coverage.

As you may have guessed, we're big believers in interns here at New Harbor - click here to find out why with our blog.

Nice Ink!
We've been busy in recent months getting our clients great coverage on a myriad of platforms.  Here are some highlights.

Gov. Raimondo and the Ocean State GradGrant

Gov. Raimondo and
Barbara Fields
Gov. Gina Raimondo joined our client Rhode Island Housing and their executive director Barbara Fields to kick off a unique effort to keep bright young talent right here in Rhode Island. The program, called "Ocean Grad Grant" provides recent college graduates with up to $7,000 for a down payment on a new home. Not surprisingly, there was a lot of interest in the kick off and a lot of media coverage, as well.

Camp Yawgoog's 100th Season

Camp Yawgoog, a Rhode Island treasure run by the Narragansett Council of the Boy Scouts of America, celebrated its 100th season this summer. Media from coast to coast covered the milestone.  One of the highlights was the 8-minute video produced by R.I. Spotlight, and writer/producer Jim Hummel.  The piece has appeared on local television, as well.

Keep Calm and Carry On

Jason Siperstein on NBC10
When markets nose-dived in August, Jason Siperstein from our client Eliot Rose Asset Management took to the airwaves to offer some sage advice - specifically, "stay the course."

"This is not 1987 or 2008," Jason said in a live interview on NBC10, which you can watch here.

It wasn't surprising that Jason, who is one of only a handful of advisors in Rhode Island to have earned designations as both a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), turned out to be right. You can read more about Jason in this "5 Questions" recently published in the Providence Business News.
