Dear Subscriber,
Thank you for signing up to receive The eMule this academic year, and keeping up with all the exciting things that are happening in your school district.
Today marked the last day of summer school and with that, we will discontinue the email newsletter until the Mules kick back into high gear for the 2013/14 school year, which starts Aug. 15. Expect a back-to-school edition on the Monday prior.
In the meantime, please continue to follow Poplar Bluff R-I news by checking the school website and visiting our Facebook and Twitter pages.
Thanks again for supporting Poplar Bluff Schools! Enjoy your summer.
Sincerely,
Tim Krakowiak

Exploring partnerships in long-range plan
Hired as part of Poplar Bluff Schools' long-range planning team, Jerry McCall of Educational Consulting Services visits with Three Rivers College President Dr. Devin Stephenson on Thursday, June 20, to explore further opportunities for the school system to partner with the community college at the secondary education level.
McCall will continue his discussions about the possibility of sharing resources with the Poplar Bluff Public Library, the Parks & Recreation Department and the Boys and Girls Club, as school officials and community leaders work toward developing a master plan to best accommodate a surge of students projected over the next decade.

PBHS teachers receive laptops, training
Apple Systems Manager Bret Siegel [above] and Account Executive Chuck Enstall [below] hosted a workshop on Thursday, June 20, in the Missouri Room to go over best practices for using MacBook Air laptops, which were issued to Poplar Bluff High School staff.
Under the Digital Transformation, deployment of laptops to Junior High students will take place prior to this coming school year, during which time the one-to-one initiative will be piloted at Senior High in preparation for the issuance of laptops to older students during the 2014/15 school year.

Digital Transformation informational video
After the Digital Transformation received board approval earlier this year, Poplar Bluff R-I administrators held a series of informational meetings for parents in April and May at the Kay Porter Theater. The timeline leading to the one-to-one initiative was discussed, and questions were answered about the deployment of laptops to students.
For those who were unable to participate in the community dialogue, the video above recaps one of the presentations.
