Donlon PFC Thanks You!

It is hard to believe we are already at the end of the 2012/13 school year. Many thanks for your ongoing support of our school and the Donlon PFC.  We would like to thank each Parent that volunteered at Donlon this year.

As a school community we have accomplished a great deal during these past ten months. Most notably, the following goals were met:  provided complete school supply kits customized by each teacher for every student.  In addition, they were organized and placed on each student's desk prior to the first day of school soon day one, they were ready to learn, managed collection and dissemination of all Teacher Funds in the amount of $20,000 of donations made directly to Donlon Teachers and classes for field trips and grade/class specific programs as request by the teachers and staff, and $50,000 of funds donated at Walk Thru Registration for any teacher and class needs, supported 1 extra hour a day for Library Staff, in addition to support from PUSD and PPIE, in addition, provided a $1,000 grant for new library books, supported Donlon's marquee with daily updates for student's birthdays, which raised over $3,500 to Donlon's general fund.

We realize that volunteers come in many different roles - Room Parents, Committee Members, Board Members, Etc.!  Without volunteers like we have, we could not have had such a successful year!  Thank you to each and every one of you!  Have a wonderful summer! We look forward to seeing you at Walk Through Registration on August 19, and on the first day of school, August 26.

Field Day "Thank You"

The Field Day committee would like to thank each and every volunteer who helped make it such a success!  Both the kids and adults had a blast!  Thank you to everyone!

 5th GRADE VOLUNTEERS - THANK YOU!

What a day for the 5th graders.  They walked through a cave guarded by 2 large Dum-Dum Tiki's into the Jungle!  The MPR was transformed into a bright neon rain forest, with a huge tree of life in the middle.  The walls were covered with beautiful exotic flowers, trees and butterflies. The DJ played music and games under a twenty foot waterfall.  The kids were treated with their favorite treats of root beer floats, sliders, and desserts.

A big THANK YOU to the amazing team of parent volunteers who helped plan, prepare and set up for such a memorable event: Leslie Mehta, Tara Sheehan, Jennifer Orr, Laura Molnar, Nicole Houghtelling, Michelle Nath, Lorraine D'Amico, Cheryl Thoe, Yvonne Malinowski, Sabina Carter, Robin Moresco, Lisa Kroll, Kate Damiani, Audrey Purnell, May Hu, and all the other wonderful 5th grade parents who offered a lending hand.  It takes a village!  Without your support, energy and creative minds, we would not have surprised the kids and pulled off a successful 5th Grade Celebration!   

On a personal note, we would like to give special thanks to Leslie Mehta!  Leslie was the inspiration behind our decorations.  Based on theme ideas from students and input by numerous parents, she created a vision for transforming the MPR.  She led a group of inspired volunteers while maintaining a calm, relaxing and often hilarious sense of humor!  Leslie, you are truly going to be missed!

Thanks again to all the wonderful and helpful volunteers.  Good luck as your students venture off into Middle School!

Volunteers needed for the PFC

The PFC is looking for volunteers to help fill positions for next year!!!

We currently have the position of secretary open.  Also, we are looking for parents to fill committee leader positions of Room Parent Liaison, Volunteer Coordinator, Escrip/Lucky Shares and Box Tops. Please email Keri Rocha at  president@donlonpfc.com if you would like to get involved!

Moving?? 

Please contact Diana Boehmer in the Donlon office if you are planning on moving out of the area or to another school in the District for classes next fall.  This will allow spaces to open up for other children on the waiting list or who will move here and will be new to Donlon.
