Teacher Appreciation Week Chair Needed

The PFC is currently looking for a chair for its upcoming Teacher Appreciation Week.  This year it is being held in May.  This is not only a fun role, but much appreciated by each Teacher at Donlon.  It requires someone with a bit of creativity and willingness to ensure that each Teacher knows how much they are appreciated during the week.  The PFC typically does something small each day and then wraps up the week with a nice luncheon.   The PFC already has a few parents who are willing to help, so you will not be on your own.

Excellence in Education Nominations Accepted through March 15

Have a special teacher or staff member who has made a difference in your child's education? Nominations are now being accepted for Pleasanton teachers and staff to be considered for an Excellence in Education Award.   This program acknowledges Teachers and at-large (non-teacher) personnel that are nominated by the community for personifying Excellence in Education. Nomination forms will be accepted through March 15, and all schools in the district are eligible to participate.   Nomination forms can be found at www.pleasantonpta.org.  Winners will be celebrated at a ceremony on May 20th.

Candidates need to have not won in the previous 5 years. Lists of the previous winners can be viewed on the Excellence in Education page of the Pleasanton PTA website. Please visit www.pleasantonpta.org or email elimesand@comcast.net for details.

FUN RUN 2013

We are happy to announce the launch of our Fun Run 2013 website!  All information regarding our big day on April 12th including schedule, class colors, fundraising, training and volunteering is all in one place.  Check it out at https://sites.google.com/site/donlonfunrun2013

Run For Fun Club

The Fun Run Committee is introducing a RUN FOR FUN CLUB on Wednesdays beginning February 27th.  Every child is welcome to participate!  This is a new and experimental program that we hope gets our students active on a regular basis and encourages a healthy lifestyle with an emphasis on running.  The program will be led by Fun Run Committee volunteers with guidance and support from a local professional running coach.  The RUN FOR FUN CLUB will meet during lunch recesses on Wednesdays from February 27th through April 10th.  Just tell your child to wear running shoes and meet us on the black top by the basketball courts to get signed in.  There will be rewards just for participating!  If you have any questions or would like to be involved as a volunteer, contact Gerry Gaisser at galgo21@gmail.com or Carol Bolt at carolbbolt@gmail.com.

5Th Grade End of Year Party

The 5th grade end of year party decorations committee is looking for donations of your toilet paper, paper towel, and/or wrapping paper tubes.  If you can collect some and drop them in the box in our school office it would be much appreciated!  We will be collecting them through the end of May!  Thanks for the help!

Student Safety

Drop off of students (Grade 1st - 5th) is to be no earlier than 8:00 am as there is no supervision prior to that time.  For Wednesday, please be sure students arrive no earlier than 9:00 am.
