Donlon Auction 2013
Join us March 9th for a night of fun, entertainment, and fundraising for Donlon! Enjoy delicious and filling food, live music, games, a silent and live auction, and spending time with friends - new and old!
In our silent auction you can bid on some exciting items: a three month membership to Elite Fitness Training Center, Bay Area Discovery Museum tickets, Tickets to the De Young Museum, Tickets to the Harvest Wine Festival, gift cards to local restaurants and restaurants in San Francisco, teeth whitening services...and much more!
The night will also offer raffles - you could win Disneyland tickets or Ski Lift tickets! You can also buy a ticket to play heads and tails to win an IPad Mini!
WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP! We are still looking for big ticket items for our live and silent auction. If you have sports tickets, a cabin, or are a business owner and would like to donate goods or services, please contact Auction Chair Becka Schnell.

 Classroom baskets Most of your classrooms will be putting a basket up for auction. There are many exciting themes including a Class art project, Movie night at home, technology, sports, Warriors Basketball, running themed, Game Truck, dinner with wine, kids night out, Dinner at the Firehouse, Wake up & get going, baking theme, gardening, Gal's night out @ Savvy Seconds, movie night, Oakland A's, San Francisco Giants, Wine, San Francisco Opera, family fun and a Pleasanton Sampler basket.  How can you help? Ask your room parent what your classroom theme will be for the auction and see if they need any assistance. If you own a business and can contribute items to your classroom basket this will help us reach our fundraising goal of putting smart technology in all of the classrooms. Also, don't forget to buy your auction tickets. A portion of our fundraising comes from these ticket sales, so have family members and friends come with you for a fun and exciting night. |
 Benefits of Technology in the Classroom and why the Auction is Needed
We are very fortunate at Donlon to have dedicated staff who are anxious to increase the potential for learning through the use of technology. Our classrooms are not fully equipped with the technological resources that are demanded in today's world of education. We pride ourselves in maintaining a high tradition of excellence. Advancements in classroom technology are the path we need to take to be progressive in both instruction and student learning.
When Donlon utilizes technology like LCD projectors, document cameras and computers with Internet access, students are more engaged, more motivated, and more excited about learning. A smart classroom enables teachers to prepare dynamic multimedia lessons. Teachers are no longer limited to presenting information from a textbook. With access to the Internet, teachers have the entire world of the web at their fingertips.
The benefits of technology in the classroom go far beyond access to current information. When students are invited to participate in technology-based learning, they take ownership of their educational process. Students no longer sit passively while teachers talk at them - they are now an essential part of the lesson. When students are motivated to learn and to work cooperatively, the benefits of technology in the classroom are clear for all to see.
The goal of the PFC is to ensure that all classrooms at Donlon are smart classrooms. With fundraisers such as the Spring Auction and Fun Run, we are able to work with current staff and administration to purchase much needed technology. As always, we appreciate your support of these fundraisers.
