Important travel information - The Atlanta-based Centers for Disease Control recently advised women to consider postponing travel to Zika-affected areas and to take precautions against mosquito bites if they do travel.   Major U.S. airline companies including Delta Air Lines Inc, American Airlines Group and United  Continental Holdings say customers concerned about traveling to destinations reported by the CDC to be affected by Zika may qualify for a change to alternate destinations, travel dates or a refund.
The CDC's list of affected areas  include: Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Barbados, Bolivia, Brazil, Cape Verde, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Martinique, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Saint Martin, Samoa, Suriname and Venzuela.

As a law enforcement agency, Houston Police Department is always trying to improve its transparency with the public, striving to provide current and accurate crime data in a user friendly platform.  Recent technology advancements have given us the ability to now provide crime data on two separate third party vendor websites.  Every 30 minutes, 365 days a year, UCR crime data will be mapped on crimereports.com and raidsonline.com, providing the public with an accurate and transparent view of crime in their neighborhoods and of greater Houston.

As a service to the public, these websites are provided at no cost, and more importantly, citizens of Houston can now receive email alerts of crimes in their neighborhood and download these crime maps as mobile device apps, giving easy access to HPD crime data at all times of the day.

More than 8.8 million lawful permanent residents (LPRs), who are foreign nationals, have been granted the right to reside permanently in the United States of America.  Yet many of these lawful residents haven't applied for U.S. citizenship for a variety of reasons, and don't always know the benefits, rights and freedoms associated with becoming a naturalized citizen.

The following link provides details on how lawful permanent residents, if they wish to become naturalized citizens of the U.S., can begin that process.  Please feel free to share with your colleagues.
