About John & Karen Louis
Married fo r over 25 years with two adult children, John and Karen Louis have been in the full-time ministry with the International Churches of Christ since 1985. They both hold a Masters in Counselling from Monash University of Melbourne, Australia, and are members of professional counselling associations in America, Australia and Singapore. As founders of Movie Therapy in Singapore, John and Karen incorporate the use of multi-media in workshops for ICOC churches as well as for secular organisations and companies in Singapore.
John is a certified Schema Therapist and member of the International Society for Schema Therapy (ISST), having been trained by Dr. Jeffrey Young, the founder of Schema Therapy, and Karen is a certified Solution-Focused Therapist. |

- This Basic Certificate Course in Schema and Movie Therapy is designed specially for social workers, psychologists, counsellors, and family educators who have an interest in expanding their skills to help “difficult to treat patients” or patients with long-term chronic psychological disorders.
Those completing the course would have an understanding of the 18 schemas and the core emotional needs. They will also be able to administer and interpret professionally developed schema based questionnaires, identify maladaptive coping styles, and be equipped to use appropriate movies in their work without contravening copyright laws.

- Movie Therapy Facilitators Training in "I Choose Us!" and "Good Enough Parenting" Program in February 2010, Los Angeles and Singapore
- In February 2010, John and Karen conducted two Schema based Movie Therapy Facilitators Training for the "I Choose Us!" and "Good Enough Parenting" programs in both Los Angeles (Feb 1-5) and Singapore (Feb 16-20). Over 230 participants from the US, the UK, Canada, Russia, Nigeria, Kenya, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, The Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore spent a week together learning how to take these powerful tools back to their home countries.
