Latino Students Meet in Kansas City to Plan Regional Leadership

USHLI's Central States and Northwest Field
Coordinator, Ricardo Lopez, convened
a group of students and community leaders to plan the program for our Central
States Hispanic Student Leadership Conference. Student leaders representing
over 25 colleges and universities are expected to attend the regional
conference, which will be held October 24-25, 2008, in Kansas
City, MO. The Central States region includes Kansas,
Nebraska, Iowa,
Missouri, Oklahoma,
and Arkansas.
The meeting was hosted by The Guadalupe Centers. Click here

The theme of the conference will be: "The Power Is Yours: Muevelo"
and the keynote speaker will be Carlos Ojeda, already one of the top-rated

The student leadership conference will focus on civic engagement, graduate school, fundraising for student organizations, the college experience and retention of Latino students, preparing for success, promoting collegiate leadership development, and creating a strong network of Latino student organizations in the Northwest. |
Rainbow PUSH Recognizes USHLI President

The Rev. Jesse Jackson, Sr., recognized USHLI
President, Dr. Juan Andrade, Jr., on
Father's Day at a regular weekly meeting at National Rainbow/PUSH headquarters.
Dr. Andrade was out of the country and unable to receive the award, which was
accepted on his behalf by his eldest son, Juan
Andrade, III.
