 Bust Your Stress by Using Your Senses

EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE (EQ) & STRESS

You need to be aware and recognize your own stress. Here are some clues:

 

-A feeling in the pit of your stomach                    -Nervousness

-Headaches                                                       -Cold hands

-Tight muscles                                                   -Redness in your face

-Shallow breathing                                              -Agitation

 

 

CHOOSE YOUR STRESS RESPONSE: CALMESS, ACTIVITY, OR A COMBINATION

If you often react with anger, yelling, kicking, throwing, or using language that is atypical, then a healthier response is to do something that calms you down.

 

If you react by shutting down and withdrawing, then your best response is to take some action or do an activity that stimulates you.

 

If you tend to choke or freeze, then your best response is to do or experience a combination of things that are calming and stimulating, such as:

 

-The sound of water in a small fountain                    -Push-ups or exercise

            -Music                                                                  -Sunset

-Sing                                                                    -Yoga

-Whistle                                                                -Massage

-Paint

 

EXERCISE

This week I invite you to;

 

1.         Observe your body and identify when you become highly stressed

2.         Choose a response and technique that works for you

3.         Then practice using the technique
