CLIFF YOUNG LIVED HIS AUTHENTIC SELF |
Being your authentic self (issue 176) helps a person be in touch with him/herself and contributes to their happiness. Cliff knew his authentic self and lived it. In the ultra marathon he wore boots and overalls, while his elite competitors had traditional running styles and followed the norm of 6 hours sleep and 18 hours running each day. Cliff stayed true to his authentic self, did his own "shuffle" and ran the 543 miles without sleeping.

CLIFF WAS NEVER A PRETENDER |
"Cliff was never thought to be a genuine contender. One thing no one knew was Cliff was never a pretender. " Lyrics from the Ballad of Cliff young.
He claimed he would finish the race. He was no pretender. He not only finished, but won the race.
|
THE AUTHENTIC SELF HAS NO LABELS OR TITLES |
Cliff's competitors had won many championship titles and were labeled as some of the world's best. Some wore the labels of their sponsors such as Nike and Reebok. Cliff's farmer gum boots were certainly not sponsored. He had no labels or titles; he was just himself, a simple sheep farmer.
