DTreat 2011
Last year, COMMIT-TED sent an upcoming college freshman to Dtreat UC Berkely - a retreat specifically for college-age
Type I young adults.
I have been patiently awaiting news to break from DECA about the 2011 American retreats, but this information has not yet been posted. The only retreat mentioned for this year is in Ottawa Canada.

Don't forget about ADA EXPO at Navy Pier on Saturday, April 16th.
Last weekend, I attended the Children With Diabetes Conference. Whenever I attend one of these fantastic events, I always learn something new, or remember something that worked very well to manage my son's blood sugars - that has since faded away with time.
How about an old fashioned bus trip to see a diabetes camp? Your family is invited to go see a camp in Indiana on May 1st.
Next month's newsletter will include some of my favorite online newsletters and blogs. Please send me links to your favorite blogs so that they can be shared by all who receive this newsletter.
As always, I am interested in your comments and requests for any topics that you would like to see in this newsletter. Please let me know what you think: brian@commit-ted.com

COMMIT-TED Bus Trip To a Diabetes Camp
ADA Camp John Warvel
Its no secret that I support diabetes camps. It just surprises me though, on just how few families send their child. I believe that one of the barriers to participating in camp, is fear of the unknown. I want to take that fear away!
Would you like to see a diabetes camp? No Pressure, No Obligation, And it's Free! Let's take an old-fashioned bus trip! If enough families are interested, COMMIT-TED will sponsor a bus trip to an ADA Camp Open House, at Camp John Warvel, in North Webster, Indiana.
9:00 Bus Leaves South Suburbs
12:00 Arrive at Camp, tour the grounds and facilities, eat lunch
2:30 Depart Camp
5:00 Arrive Home
Camp John Warvel is located about 130 miles from Chicago's South Suburbs. It is operated by the American Diabetes Association, and is one of the area's most affordable options for summer diabetes camp. The ADA will be on site to answer any questions you may have.
Realistically, by May 1st, it is probably too late to attend this particular camp this summer - as it starts in early June. But the point of this trip would be to give you and your child an idea of what camp is really like - to take that fear of the unknown away -for some future time.
Click on the link below to learn about this camp:
Sign up by sending an email to me at:
If you already signed up for this trip, I will contact you in about two weeks to let you know if there was enough interest in this program. |
