Greetings!
Welcome to the February 2011 issue of COMMIT-TED's Email Newsletter.
Last year, about July 1st, right after the golf outing, I reached it - DIABETES BURNOUT. Between managing my child's diabetes and COMMIT-TED's programs, I just had too much - and I shut down for a well-needed break from it all.
Recent activity in some local programs has prompted me to pull my COMMIT-TED notebook from the shelf, and blow off the settled dust from its cover.
This edition will be brief, mainly to highlight an upcoming event sponsored by a local diabetes clinic, to make you aware of the Cups For Camp Program for this year, and to include some Save The Date events. However, in the coming weeks, I will be sending you full details on these events, and other interesting news.
As always, I am interested in your comments and requests for any topics that you would like to see in this newsletter. Please let me know what you think: brian@commit-ted.com

COMMIT-TED's Cups For Camp 2011
- a fundraising program for Type I diabetes camps
It's no secret that camps are expensive. Day camps cost $275, and overnight camps cost $450 to $795.
But these camps are special!
The kids learn, share life experiences, understand they are not alone, and have fun just like any other kid!
And by the way .....it could give you the first real break you've had since diagnosis (probably years). Been there.
All children who want to attend camp
should have the opportunity to do so!
In a world where fundraisers exist for sports, hobbies, and other extracurricular activites, who wouldn't purchase a $10 coffee cup to help send your kid to a special diabetes camp?

Diabetes Camps ........ is this the year?
Diabetes camps are special. The children get to experience camp with other children who are living with Type I diabetes.
It's hard to leave your child, I know. But importantly, camp puts your child on the road to independence - a stepping stone for them...and you!
There are many camps in the region that are put together by the American Diabetes Association. These include day camps for children 4-9, and overnight camps for children 9 and older. The ADA website explains everything you need to know.
