FLU INFORMATION & SCHOOL POLICY ON ILLNESSES
|
|
Important Information About the "Swine Flu" (H1N1) We have posted some important information regarding H1N1 "Swine Flu" and
South Carolina schools from DHEC (SC's Dept. of Health and
Environmental Control) to the Latest News page on our website. Additional information has been mailed to you from CCS and DHEC regarding this
health situation that is already affecting our community.
An important reminder about school policy on student illnesses: if a
student is out sick, he/she is only allowed back to school after being
fever/symptom-free for 24 hours without the help of medication.

Sept. 21-25, Grades 2-10
Beginning Monday, September 21, grades 2-10 will
be participating in Charleston Collegiate's yearly CTP4 testing through the ERB testing service. Below is
important scheduling information for grades 2-12:

regular schedule, testing at different times each day.
- Grades 6-10 will test Monday through
Thursday, Sept. 21-24, from 8 until 9:35 a.m.
- For all grades, please make sure your
child gets a good night's sleep, eats breakfast, and arrives on time each
day.
- 11th graders may arrive at 9:30 on
Monday through Thursday in order to be at school in time for the beginning of
first period. However, US1 will be available for a supervised study hall if
students need to arrive before the CTP4 testing has finished for the

INNISBROOK FUNDRAISER
|
|
Last Day for Innisbrook Sales Drive!
The final day for Innisbrook sales is tomorrow afternoon, Sept. 22. Please order online or turn order forms in to the front office.
Please help us reach our goal of $10,000, a portion of which will benefit the Lower School Playground. You can order online at www.innisbrook.com; the school's number is 111148.
All students that sell 10 items or more will be eligible to attend an ice cream party, to be held after the Innisbrook fundraiser ends. (Repeating his successful premiere last year, Mr. Burr will once again be our costume-clad banana, to be covered in whip cream by all students in attendance at the ice cream party.) Additionally, any child that sells 1 item or more will be entered into a drawing for an at-home Dip-n-Dots kit!
For more information, please contact Charlotte Smith.

Outdoor Classroom Policies
We announced to parents in the recent Coffee with the Head that Lower School classes will be required to have 2 adults present to go to the Outdoor Classroom. However, after some consideration, we have found that this will inhibit the use of the facility by the Lower School. Thus we have amended the policy as follows:
- No child or class is permitted in the outdoor classroom facility without a teacher (or other supervising adult) present.
- Teachers must sign out the class with the front desk so that the school knows the whereabouts of all teachers and students.
- All groups of students using the outdoor classroom, trails, or dock must have a two-way radio present. This is essential in the event that a teacher or student is injured; this way, the teacher will be able to radio for help if needed.
- For added safety, we have painted a bright yellow caution crosswalk on the street going into the nature trail.
Further information about the Outdoor Classroom, and an official launch, will be announced in the coming weeks.
