Shaklee logoI'm so excited to be able to partner with one of the People I Love to Work With to bring you this event! Missy Baxter will be sharing how a healthier home can lead to a healthier you.

Chemical sensitivity is often one of the symptoms that fibro folks suffer from. Shaklee's cleaning products are free of all those nasty chemicals and perfumes and they really work. At our event, Missy will even be collecting any toxic cleaners you wish to toss and dispose of them for you properly.

30 Things About My Invisible Illness You May Not Know: Fibromyalgia
Posted September 12, 2011
Invisible Illness Awareness Week 2011 logo
In honor of Invisible Illness Awareness Week 2011, I wrote this blog post using a "fill in the blank" form provided.

As far as invisible illnesses, I actually live with a few. Things are mostly under control now, but back in 2008 I actually filed for Social Security Disability. To make things easy, this post is about my fibromyalgia. Some of my answers might surprise you!

This article also includes links to several other blog posts written for IIWK11 that I thought were exceptional and wanted to share with my readers. If you have the time, click through and check out some of those articles as well.

Celebration of Hope
"Promise of Hope" by Wayne Bricco
Promise of Hope, by Wayne Bricco

"Until you get your own hope,
find some people who you can
borrow theirs from.

~ Mary, Why Cherry Blossoms...?

Sometimes, hope is in the small things, and sometimes, the small things are actually BIG things.

This month I want to celebrate with Aviva who won the drawing for a BookBuddy (see the Special Discount article below).

When Aviva and I talked about her winning the drawing, here's what she had to say:

"I found [the Amanda Crawford Designs] website about a year ago and really wanted a BookBuddy. I just never actually spent the money to get one. Winning this is such perfect timing too! My hands and wrists have been bothering me so much lately that I've been wearing braces on them."

Aviva also sent me an email that pretty much says it all:

I'm SO excited!! Oh, but you made my day! My week, even! Heck, probably even my year! I never win anything! :) Woohoo!!! Thank you!

Aviva said that she will be blogging about her BookBuddy and sharing how she has fallen in love after she receives it. If you didn't win and want your own, be sure to see the 15% off gift below!

Miscellaneous colored pills
When I wrote the blog post 30 Things About My Invisible Illness You May Not Know (above), one of the questions I answered was about how many pills and vitamins I take every day. The answer was "55 + sublingual sprays."

This is the story about what I take and why.

After I wrote my review of the BookBuddy, Myrna, the owner of Amanda Crawford Designs, told me that she would give 15% off to YOU, my clients & newsletter subscribers!

Tip of the Month

Sewing mannequin
Do you have clothes that you don't wear because they don't fit quite right or are uncomfortable?

When you have fibromyalgia how your clothes fit can even send you into a flare. Something rubbing you the wrong way could make your pain levels go through the roof.

A simple alteration might be able to fix an area that's causing you problems.

If you've been losing weight and aren't all the way to your goal yet - consider alterations to get you by between sizes. This could save you some of the cost of new clothes.

Plus, when was the last time you tried something on that fit like it was made for you?

Little alterations can make the difference between liking what you're wearing and feeling okay - and feeling GREAT and LOVING IT!

If you live in the Portland, Oregon area, download a $10 off coupon for alterations with Chris' Convenient Dry Cleaning. The best part? She will come to YOU!

Fibromyalgia: What It Feels Like

Fibromyalgia: What It Feels Like

During Invisible Illness Awareness Week, I came across a video that totally rocked my world.

I have fibro. I KNOW what it feels like. This is RIGHT ON.

The video was made by Kim Arthur, "Fibro Queen Kim." She says on her website, The Fibro Queendom:

"This video was created to help others who do not live with the condition of Fibromyalgia to better understand what it feels like.

"In order to accomplish this, I related sensations I feel with Fibro to sensations those who don't have this condition may have felt at some point in their lives.

"It is my heartfelt hope that this video will help other members of the 'Fibro Family' to express what it is like to their friends, coworkers, and family members."
