The oracle concerning Edom.
One keeps calling to me from Seir,
"Watchman, how far gone is the night?
Watchman, how far gone is the night?"
The watchman says,
"Morning comes but also night.
If you would inquire, inquire;
Come back again."
- Isaiah 21:11-12Seeing them straining at the oars, for the wind was against them, at about the fourth watch of the night He *came to them, walking on the sea; and He intended to pass by them. - Mark 6:48

Usually an enemy to Bible Believing Christians and Patriotic Americans this is what the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) had to say about the NDAA
|
- "The bill is an historic threat to American citizens and others because it expands and makes permanent the authority of the president to order the military to imprison without charge or trial American citizens"
- "The final amendment to preserve current detention restrictions could turn out to be meaningless and Sens. [Carl] Levin [Michigan Democrat] and Graham made clear that they believe this power to use the military against American citizens will not be affected by the new language"
- "This bill puts military detention authority on steroids and makes it permanent. If it becomes law, American citizens and others are at real risk of being locked away by the military without charge or trial."

Under Pressure
|
This edition of Be Alert follows up on that of the last and is and continues on the theme of what I believe to be one of the most overlooked and pressing issues concerning the last day's church: coming persecution. Affliction and tribulation are coming to the body of Christ that should be prepared but rather has been seduced into a life of ease. At least that is, those in the Western world. Rise up, you women who are at ease, And hear my voice; Give ear to my word, You complacent daughters. - Isaiah 32:9 "But I am very angry with the nations who are at ease; for while I was only a little angry, they furthered the disaster." - Zechariah 1:15 This whole idea may be offensive to some because of their end time beliefs, patriotic beliefs or general theological beliefs. However, none of that fits squarely with the fact that it is clearly unscriptural to live as though one may never face the trials that the overwhelming majority of other believers in the world now face and have always faced. Yet, that is just the way this wretched world is, everything twisted, upside down, and backwards. All good has been turned into being viewed as bad in the eyes of the world and those who understand have bitterness of stomach and aching of the heart. This is the topic of working while you still have light and that of no stone being left unturned. The ships driven by contrary winds into the reefs will sink, yet no life will be lost. Those who understand the mashal and the nimshal know that both are true and yet the figure will never in anyway supersede or disregard the literal. However, the main problem is that the literal truths of the Scripture are misunderstood by those claiming to be literalists because many have been falsely taught and deceived into thinking they need not be concerned about these things because of a Western European or Anglo/American worldview through which the Scriptures (especially eschatology) have been interpreted. "Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat; but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers." - Luke 22:31-32 It has been amazing to watch the progression of events take place around the world from a Scriptural perspective, especially the "throttle up" mode we have entered into concerning outright lawlessness and hatred towards anything godly or having to do with The Lord Jesus Christ or the One true God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. If it is not hatred then it is the immense growth of spiritual deception, blatant apostasy, events concerning Israel, the Jews and The Middle East and all other things where every facet of human civilization is moving so quickly, collecting so much information, growing in the micro or macro level et al., that one faces madness with trying to keep up with any of it, let alone all. With that said, this alert will focus on the topic of persecution that will eventually come from an unrestrained and lawless world governing system (lawless in the sense it is against God's law) such as what has been transpiring in the United States and elsewhere that calls "evil good, and good evil" (Isaiah 5:20). Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! - Isaiah 5:20 This is a paradox in that The LORD instituted human government as one of the restraints to lawlessness, recorded in Genesis 10. It is a sad truth grasped not by most Christians (especially in America) that this "restrainer" - particularly of late - in the case of the US government and her NATO allies, that are doing nearly everything possible to wipe Christianity off the face of the earth, all in this so-called "war on terrorism". Whether or not any intent for this to be the result of the supranational coordinated efforts of this "war" would be a nearly impossible undertaking to prove from the human perspective, though I do not doubt the obvious evil characters who would relish the opportunity and would take advantage of such occasion. As I stated here a few months back this has no bearing on the millions of enlisted and civilian men and women who risk their lives daily for their countries and families. Nearly all who come to understand the bigger picture abhor it. Regardless, the outcome truly reflects the reality of the battle taking place in the heavens and one we all to often forget is occurring. As I have mentioned previously, this is the one great conspiracy we do know happened, satan and one third of the angels conspiring against The Father, Son, and The Holy Spirit and the rest of the heavenly host. And there was war in heaven, Michael and his angels waging war with the dragon. The dragon and his angels waged war, and they were not strong enough, and there was no longer a place found for them in heaven. And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, "Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, he who accuses them before our God day and night. "And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death. "For this reason, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them. Woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, knowing that he has only a short time." And when the dragon saw that he was thrown down to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male child. - Revelation 12:7-13 So the dragon was enraged with the woman, and went off to make war with the rest of her children, who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus. And the dragon stood on the sand of the seashore. Then I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having ten horns and seven heads, and on his horns were ten diadems, and on his heads were blasphemous names. - Revelation 12:17 - 13:1 Now the laws are passed to carry on this same war on American soil if necessary and it is apparent the plans are advanced to get all necessary pieces in place to carry out such an operation. Things are going in reverse, like a loaf of bread picturing the word of God, and the restrainer is slowly being removed and we will be faced with a "Nimrod II", we will rebel, a mighty hunter of Christians and Jews in his final flawed and desperate attempt to prove God a liar and himself, god. It is written that he will fail. And he laid hold of the dragon, the serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; ... Revelation 20:2 Indeed I am referring to the recent National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), overwhelming passed by congress and just signed into law by the president. According to human rights organizations and independent journalists on both the right and left, it has been called a legalization of martial law and an authorization to use the military and defense contractors on American soil to detain US citizens indefinitely without any concern of a persons constitutional rights, all for "your safety". Although legitimate questions remain unanswered such as whether this law would actually apply to American citizens, (the MSM says no) the truth is difficult to decipher since it is buried in so much legalese. However, statements from US Senators involved in its writing and two four star US Marine Generals who voiced opposition against it suggests that is clearly does. Also noted are the ramifications about a president that has many unanswered questions regarding his past, yet absolutely nothing of this is reported by the corporate owned mainstream media, the mouthpiece of the world beast system. There are some articles included in this alert that veer into the area that have long been considered by the "mainstream" to be the abode of "conspiracy theorists". My caution with sharing these links is not that the articles themselves are untrustworthy; in this case, I think they are quite accurate, the truth is clearly proving out as direct sources confirm what has been suspect for years. I would only put forth the caveat to be discerning regarding the hype and advertisements and a booming cottage industry in "preparedness", one that particularly targets believers concerned about the last days and one that is using all the tactics of modern marketing with one goal of getting your money. I was brought up by parents that grew up during the Great Depression and so the idea of always having a little extra on hand at all times was normal practice to get one through in case of an emergency, however it never went beyond that. Those who stock up enough for a fortress should know they will need to defend that fortress. If anyone is destined for captivity, to captivity he goes; if anyone kills with the sword, with the sword he must be killed. Here is the perseverance and the faith of the saints. - Revelation 13:10 Unfortunately, these very types of behaviors paint a bull's-eye on the back of many Christians in eyes of law enforcement in the United States and it is these very types of people who are mentioned in these new laws. I cannot tell you how many websites I have been on that have had articles related to this or other end time topics and various Christian reader comments via social networking tools that are signed by someone such as "locked and loaded" or "God, guns and butter". This is just a brief example how many professing Christians apparently do not fully put their trust in the God of the Bible, but rather the god of the USA. This was also the god of Nimrod, a god of fortresses. Here is the perseverance of the saints who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus. - Revelation 14:12 My prayer is for those in America to wake up and realize how late the hour is and how dark it is getting. The safety Christian believers have had is gone the second anyone takes a real stand and the persecution we have seen in other countries is just around the corner. What is happening here in the USA is just a part of the bigger picture, but one that often seems the most overlooked and ignored in this watchman's viewpoint. At my "day job", I find myself surrounded by many who do not know The Lord. But things have grown so ugly in the church that I see that the church needs to get her act together so these people can come into the fold. So many are completely fed up and disgusted with everything and you do not need to tell them how bad things are, but many of the "lost" have their lives more together (at least in the outward sense) than many of those in the true church. This is what happened in the last days of Judah before the Babylonian captivity and it is a terrible testimony for us. Brothers and sisters, we need to get things right with the Lord. The harvest is ripe. Seeing the people, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd. Then He *said to His disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. "Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest." - Matthew 9:36-38 May the Lord bless and keep you, Scott Brisk

Are evangelicals a national security threat?
A new poll suggests that American Christians (unlike Muslims) are likely to put their faith before their country |
 | Caption says: "There are no wrong answers-only perceived threats to national security."
By Mike Twohy, THE NEW YORKER [Cond Nast-Advance/Newhouse] |
SALON.com [Salon Media Group] - By David Sirota - November 29, 2011
If you have the stomach to listen to enough right-wing talk radio, or troll enough right-wing websites, you inevitably come upon fear-mongering about the Unassimilated Muslim. Essentially, this caricature suggests that Muslims in America are more loyal to their religion than to the United States, that such allegedly traitorous loyalties prove that Muslims refuse to assimilate into our nation and that Muslims are therefore a national security threat.
Earlier this year, a Gallup poll illustrated just how apocryphal this story really is. It found that Muslim Americans are one of the most - if not the single most - loyal religious group to the United States. Now, comes the flip side from the Pew Research Center's stunning findings about other religious groups in America (emphasis mine):
American Christians are more likely than their Western European counterparts to think of themselves first in terms of their religion rather than their nationality; 46 percent of Christians in the U.S. see themselves primarily as Christians and the same number consider themselves Americans first. In contrast, majorities of Christians in France (90 percent), Germany (70 percent), Britain (63 percent) and Spain (53 percent) identify primarily with their nationality rather than their religion. Among Christians in the U.S., white evangelicals are especially inclined to identify first with their faith; 70 percent in this group see themselves first as Christians rather than as Americans, while 22 percent say they are primarily American.
If, as Islamophobes argue, refusing to assimilate is defined as expressing loyalty to a religion before loyalty to country, then this data suggests it is evangelical Christians who are very resistant to assimilation. And yet, few would cite these findings to argue that Christians pose a serious threat to America's national security. Why the double standard?
Because Christianity is seen as the dominant culture in America - indeed, Christianity and America are often portrayed as being nearly synonymous, meaning expressing loyalty to the former is seen as the equivalent to expressing loyalty to the latter. In this view, there is no such thing as separation between the Christian church and the American state - and every other culture and religion is expected to assimilate to Christianity. To do otherwise is to be accused of waging a "War on Christmas" - or worse, to be accused of being disloyal to America and therefore a national security threat.
Of course, a genuinely pluralistic America is one where - regardless of the religion in question - we see no conflict between loyalties to a religion and loyalties to country. In this ideal America, those who identify as Muslims first are no more or less "un-American" than Christians who do the same (personally, this is the way I see things).
But if our politics and culture are going to continue to make extrapolative judgments about citizens' patriotic loyalties based on their religious affiliations, then such judgments should at least be universal - and not so obviously selective or brazenly xenophobic.

Christianity May Be Eradicated in Iraq and Afghanistan, Says Chair of U.S. Religious Freedom Commission
| CNSN 'Cybercast News Service' [Media Research Center] - By Terence P. Jeffrey - December 22, 2011
Despite long-term U.S. military occupations aimed at establishing representative governments in Iraq and Afghanistan, Christianity now faces the real threat of eradication in those countries because of severe and persistent persecution of Christians there, according to the chairman of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom.
Similarly, despite the "Arab Spring" rebellion in Egypt earlier this year, the survival of Christianity is also threatened in that country because of the escalating persecution of Christians.
"We are looking at two different countries where the United States invaded, occupied, changed their governments in the last decade--Iraq and Afghanistan--where it's possible Christianity might be eradicated in our lifetime?" CNSNews.com asked USCIRF Chairman Leonard Leo in a video interview.
"Yes," said Leo, "and, unfortunately, that is sort of the pattern throughout the Middle Eastern region. The flight of Christians out of the region is unprecedented and it's increasing year by year. It's a very, very alarming situation."
In Egypt, according to Leo, anti-Christian violence and discrimination may inspire a mass migration of that nation's Coptic Christian population, thus achieving a strategic goal sought by radical Muslims.
"The radical Islamists would accomplish their goal, if they drove the Coptic Christians out of the country, absolutely," Leo told CNSNews.com in an Online With Terry Jeffrey interview.
Leo, who also serves as vice president of the conservative Federalist Society, was initially appointed and reappointed to USCIRF by President George W. Bush, and most recently was reappointed again by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R.-Ky.).
In its official report published earlier this year, USCRIF said that Christian leaders in Iraq were themselves warning of the end of Christianity in their country.
"Half or more of the pre-2003 Iraqi Christian community is believed to have left the country, with Christian leaders warning that the consequence of this flight may be the end of Christianity in Iraq," USCIRF said in its annual report published earlier this year. "In 2003, there were thought to be 800,000 to 1.4 million Chaldean Catholics, Assyrian Orthodox, Assyrian Church of the East members, Syriac Orthodox, Armenians (Catholic and Orthodox), Protestants, and Evangelicals in Iraq. Today, community leaders estimate the number of Christians to be around 500,000."
Iraqi Christians have been targeted by murderous attacks in recent years, according to USCIRF. In 2010, for example, al Qaeda in Iraq terrorists killed 50 people and wounded 60 more, during Mass, at a Catholic church in Baghdad. Among those the terrorists killed were two priests. In the months following the massacre, a series of bombing attacks on homes in Baghdad killed at least seven Christians and wounded 50 more. Christians were also shot to death in Baghdad and Mosul, while 70 Christian students were injured by a roadside bomb attack on a convoy of buses taking them to a university in Mosul.
A Christian cardiologist was attacked by gunmen who targeted him at the medical clinic where he worked.
According to Leo, the Iraqi government has not taken adequate steps to protect Christians or prosecute those who attack them.
"One of the big problems from the very beginning was that our country and others were unwilling to acknowledge that the fight in Iraq was largely a sectarian conflict and there wasn't enough emphasis placed on the flight of Christians and other religious minorities, particularly in the northern part of Iraq," said Leo.
"So, the strategy didn't take into account the fact that you were going to have a huge, huge flight of Christians out of the country, and then you were going to have the same kind of impunity or privately driven violence that we were talking about in Pakistan, but this time in Iraq," Leo said.
"That is precisely what has happened," he said. "So, it is very ironic that here we are trying to stabilize and democratize a country and at the same time we are losing large percentages of religious minorities ... which have always been such an important part of the Iraqi fabric of society, holding it together. And so that is a very, very serious problem."
CNSNews.com asked Leo what kind of leverage and what types of instruments the U.S. would have to protect the Christian population in Iraq once President Obama had withdrawn all U.S. forces from the country.
"I have no idea," Leo said. "I'm very, very concerned about what will happen after our presence is completely gone, and I don't know how we continue to put pressure on the Iraqi government and on the security forces and others in Iraq to protect the Christians in the absence of any presence."
USCIRF asked that the State Department officially name Iraq as a "country of particular concern" for the lack of religious freedom there, but the State Department declined to do so.
In Afghanistan, Leo says, a constitution that was drafted with the help of the United States government has effectively given the Afghan government license to deny religious liberty to people who adhere to minority faiths, including Christianity.
"Conditions for religious freedom remain exceedingly poor for minority religious communities and dissenting members of the majority faith, despite the presence of U.S. armed forces in Afghanistan for almost 10 years and the substantial investment of lives, resources, and expertise by the United States and the international community," says the USCIRF report. "The 2004 Afghan constitution has effectively established Islamic law as the law of the land."
"In the past year," says the USCIRF report, "the small and vulnerable Christian community experienced a spike in government arrests, with Christians being detained and some jailed for the--crime of apostasy."
The State Department has reported that in March 2010 the last public Christian church in Afghanistan was razed.
"This is one of the saddest cases that we look at every year," said Leo.
"Speaking personally, I wrote a separate opinion in the case of Afghanistan," he said. "I think one of the sources of the problem was way back when we helped hammer out a constitution for the new Afghanistan. In that constitution, there is what we call a repugnancy clause, which basically says anything that's inconsistent with Sharia principles is violative of this constitution. That clause, no matter what else is in the constitution, basically forecloses the kind of reform that you're looking for, because any extreme religious sub-sect can impose its radical view of Sharia and enshrine it in the constitutional system in Afghanistan. And if that's the kind of government system they have, there is no real way to ensure freedom of religion broadly speaking. There's no way to ensure that religious minorities are going to have freedom in law."
Leo is uncertain religious freedom can ever recover in Afghanistan from the damage done by the new Afghan constitution.
"The constitution drafting process with which we were involved was a disaster and I'm not sure Afghanistan can ever fully recover from the damage that we inflicted by not holding the line on the kind of constitution drafting that we should have been pushing for," he said.
He rejects the argument made by those who point to language elsewhere in Afghanistan's Constitution that says Afghanistan will abide by international agreements that call for respecting human rights.
CNSNews.com asked: "So Islamic apostasy laws that hold it a capital offense for someone to convert to Christianity are legitimate under the Afghan constitution as it was written?"
"Yeah," said Leo. "There are cute-by-half scholars who will tell you that it's not because there is another provision in the constitution says they'll abide by international agreements. Those who know how the world really works will tell you that a repugnancy clause is what it says. It is a repugnancy clause that trumps everything else in the constitution. So the bottom line is even though Afghanistan has been a party to a lot of these international agreements, they have essentially reserved on them and they have created their own distinctions and I don't think there is really any hope that the country is going to begin abiding by those human rights agreements.
"And they do in fact prosecute people for apostasy?" asked CNSNews.com.
"They do," said Leo, pointing out that "there were a couple of instances over the past year where Christian converts where quietly released--thanks to the U.S."
"So are we looking at an Afghanistan where after the United States leaves Christianity is eradicated there?" asked CNSNews.com
"Unfortunately I think that's where things are headed," said Leo.
Egypt, he says, is headed down a similar path.
Leo and follow religious freedom commissioners, Nina Shea and Elizabeth Prodromou, filed a separate statement attached to the section of the full commission's report that focuses on Egypt.
"We write separately to underscore the concern that Egypt is on a trajectory that is part of a broader trend toward the irreparable and severe diminution of Christian and religious minority populations," the three commissioners said.
"In several countries covered in this report-Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey-the non-Muslim religious minority communities are facing existential threats while experiencing varying degrees and manifestations of intolerance and injustice," they said.
"By far, the largest non-Muslim minority community among these countries is Egypt's Copts, numbering between 8 million and 12 million," they wrote. "A year and a half ago, Coptic worshippers were massacred during a Christmas Eve attack on their church in Naga Hammadi in southern Egypt.
"This year," the commissioners said, "a crowded church near Alexandria was bombed by militants at New Year, and several Coptic villages have been targeted by pogrom-like mob violence. Attacks against Copts were carried out largely with impunity under an indifferent Mubarak regime. A recent announcement that the rising Muslim Brotherhood movement would seek the imposition of Islamic law in Egypt is now sending shock waves through the Coptic community."
In October, after the USCIRF report was published, a crowd of Coptic Christians in Cairo protesting the burning of a Coptic church were attacked by Egyptian security forces, operating under the authority of the post-Mubarak regime, who reportedly shot and killed 24 protesters and wounded 300 more.
"The Arab spring got a cold snap," says Leo, "and the bottom line is I'm not sure whether there is going to be much of a crop at the end of the day."
"With what's going on in Egypt, with the uncertainties that exist, there's very little incentive for a young Coptic Christian to stay in the county," he said. "It wouldn't surprise me in the least if you saw the same basic trajectory in Egypt that you see in quite a number of other countries which is to say they just get up and they leave."
"The problem is that even under Mubarak, the courts, the prosecutors, the police weren't really investigating and bringing to justice the people who are really doing this kind of stuff," said Leo. "But then you have to compound that problem with you may actually have a government that steps up the official repression of religion."
"You may see laws that may further restrict the kinds of churches or other gathering places that Christians can have," said Leo. "You could potentially see upticks in discrimination against Coptic Christians in hiring and in education. Those are the kinds of things that the Coptics really have to be worried about. They are a fairly successful community in Egypt, so if they start seeing state repression through discriminatory laws, that's going to create huge incentives for the Coptic Christian community to up and leave--especially the younger ones who feel they have a bright future ahead of them."
For the first time ever, USCIRF recommended this year that the State Department list Egypt as a "country of particular" for its denial of religious freedom.
The State Department declined to do so.
Leo argues that the administration must find a way soon to get the Egyptian government to protect its own Christian population or it will be too late.
"There needs to be a tie-in between the enormous aid we give to Egypt and the protection of communities," said Leo. "We haven't seen that tie in yet. And it is complicated because security and police forces are not what they should be. And it's not clear how you would funnel transitional aid and support to help deal with this problem. But we've got to start putting on the problem-solving hat and really trying to figure this out and we need to step up our efforts here."
"We've seen frustration on the part of the administration that they are just not sure how to do this," said Leo. "I understand it and I'm sympathetic to it. But it's time to try to harness some of that frustration to some entrepreneurial and edgy ideas that get the Egyptian government where it needs to be--and those probably need to be behind the scenes. And that's' fine, but something has to be done and has to be done now.
"There is very little time left," he said.

Christians in Imminent Danger Across the World Are Refused Refugee Status While Muslim Refugee Immigration Goes Unimpeded
|
ATLAS SHRUGS - By Pamela Geller - November 21, 2011
US policy regarding the refugee resettlement program would shock most Americans if they only knew. The UN picks who becomes US refugees. Christians are being refused refugee status and face persecution and many times certain death for their religious beliefs under the sharia, while whole Muslim communities are entering the US by the tens of thousands per month despite the fact that they face no religious persecution.
It is horrifying that Afghan Christians are being refused refugee status by the UN and many Western nations, including Britain. The UN claims that Afghan Christians do not meet the criteria for refugees under Statute 6B of the UN High Commission of Refugees (UNHCR), which requires refugees to have "a well founded fear of persecution by reason of his race, religion, nationality or political opinion."
Since 1976, millions of new citizens have entered America as legal humanitarian refugees, according to reports of the US State Department. The Somalis are certified as "humanitarian refugees" under our State Department rules. Whole Muslim communities are imported into the United States, and they are supported by social services provided by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The cities who receive these huge numbers are determined by Refugee Councils. And yet back in October 2008, Muslim UN employees were "discouraging" applications for resettlement from the desperate Christian Iraqis. The Christian Iraqi population has since been decimated. By buying into the argument that Islam is a religion of peace and ignoring the penalties for apostasy, we are sentencing thousands of Christians to martyrdom and forcing others to live in the shadows in dire poverty. We need to demand that our government provide protection and asylum for Christian apostates.
Humanitarian refugees have literally won the proverbial lottery. Typically, they receive green cards as resident aliens within a year of arrival and are eligible to become full US citizens within five years, unless they violate our immigration laws, commit a felony or are deported. In the process they are provided with cash stipend and social services assistance from federal, state, NGO's and voluntary agency contractors.
The irony is the mandate of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) determines which of the world's huddled masses comes to the US as humanitarian refugees. UNHCR trends for 2006 indicate that worldwide there were more than 32.9 million 'persons of concern' with approximately one third defined as 'refugees'. Major refugee 'hot spots' include the Horn of Africa with Somalia, Darfur in the Sudan and Ethiopia, Iraq, Pakistan and Myanmar. The US is the third highest ranked country in terms of hosting refugees. The annual budget for the UNHCR is over $1.7 billion derived from government contributions, foundation grants and donations. A veritable cottage industry of federal and state alphabet soup agencies, NGO's and voluntary agencies or VOLAG contractors has sprung up to facilitate absorption of humanitarian refugees. ( more here) This is no accident. We know that the UN is driven largely by the largest bloc of countries, the OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation). The OIC is one of the largest intergovernmental organizations in the world. ...

A Perverse Process
|
NEW YORK POST [News Corporation/Murdoch] - By Nina Shea - December 16, 2011
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Wednesday ended the "Istanbul Process," a three-day, closed-door international conference hosted by the State Department on measures to combat religious "intolerance, negative stereotyping and stigmatization." The conference was intended to "implement" last March's UN Human Rights Council Resolution 16/18, on the same subject. Notwithstanding Clinton's final speech defending freedoms of religion and speech, the gathering was folly.
Resolution 16/18 was adopted in the place of one that endorsed the dangerous idea that "defamation of religion" should be punished criminally worldwide. That call for a universal blasphemy law had been pushed relentlessly for 12 years by the Saudi-based Organization of Islamic Cooperation, an essentially religious body chartered to "combat defamation of Islam." It issues fatwas and other directives to punish public expression of apostasy from Islam and "Islamophobia."
Leading OIC states behind this campaign - Saudi Arabia, Iran, Egypt and Pakistan - imprison and/or sentence to death "blasphemers." Resolution 16/18 deplores religious intolerance but doesn't limit speech - the result of a deft State Department maneuver. The administration should have let matters rest there. Instead, while co-chairing an OIC "High Level Meeting" addressing Islamophobia last July in Istanbul, Clinton invited the OIC to Washington to discuss how to "implement" resolution 16/18.
While the Washington conference ended inconclusively, it should not have been held because: ...

Guantnamo Forever?
| NEW YORK TIMES [NYTimes Group/Sulzberger] - By Charles C. Krulak and Joseph P. Hoar - December 12, 2011
Charles C. Krulak and Joseph P. Hoar are retired four-star Marine generals.
IN his inaugural address, President Obama called on us to "reject as false the choice between our safety and our ideals." We agree. Now, to protect both, he must veto the National Defense Authorization Act that Congress is expected to pass this week.
This budget bill - which can be vetoed without cutting financing for our troops - is both misguided and unnecessary: the president already has the power and flexibility to effectively fight terrorism.
One provision would authorize the military to indefinitely detain without charge people suspected of involvement with terrorism, including United States citizens apprehended on American soil. Due process would be a thing of the past. Some claim that this provision would merely codify existing practice. Current law empowers the military to detain people caught on the battlefield, but this provision would expand the battlefield to include the United States - and hand Osama bin Laden an unearned victory long after his well-earned demise.
A second provision would mandate military custody for most terrorism suspects. It would force on the military responsibilities it hasn't sought. This would violate not only the spirit of the post-Reconstruction act limiting the use of the armed forces for domestic law enforcement but also our trust with service members, who enlist believing that they will never be asked to turn their weapons on fellow Americans. It would sideline the work of the F.B.I. and local law enforcement agencies in domestic counterterrorism. These agencies have collected invaluable intelligence because the criminal justice system - unlike indefinite military detention - gives suspects incentives to cooperate.
Mandatory military custody would reduce, if not eliminate, the role of federal courts in terrorism cases. Since 9/11, the shaky, untested military commissions have convicted only six people on terror-related charges, compared with more than 400 in the civilian courts.
A third provision would further extend a ban on transfers from Guantnamo, ensuring that this morally and financially expensive symbol of detainee abuse will remain open well into the future. Not only would this bolster Al Qaeda's recruiting efforts, it also would make it nearly impossible to transfer 88 men (of the 171 held there) who have been cleared for release. We should be moving to shut Guantnamo, not extend it.
Having served various administrations, we know that politicians of both parties love this country and want to keep it safe. But right now some in Congress are all too willing to undermine our ideals in the name of fighting terrorism. They should remember that American ideals are assets, not liabilities.

Obama signs defense bill despite 'reservations'

NYTimes Obama "Cross" photo

ASSOCIATED PRESS - By Julie Pace - December 31, 2011
HONOLULU -- President Barack Obama signed a wide-ranging defense bill into law Saturday despite having "serious reservations" about provisions that regulate the detention, interrogation and prosecution of suspected terrorists. The bill also applies penalties against Iran's central bank in an effort to hamper Tehran's ability to fund its nuclear enrichment program. The Obama administration is looking to soften the impact of those penalties because of concerns that they could lead to a spike in global oil prices or cause economic hardship on U.S. allies that import petroleum from Iran. In a statement accompanying his signature, the president chastised some lawmakers for what he contended was their attempts to use the bill to restrict the ability of counterterrorism officials to protect the country.
Administration officials said Obama was only signing the measure because Congress made minimally acceptable changes that no longer challenged the president's terrorism-fighting ability. ... Signing statements allow presidents to raise constitutional objections to circumvent Congress' intent. During his campaign for the White House, Obama criticized President George W. Bush's use of signing statements and promised to make his application of the tool more transparent. Obama's signature caps months of wrangling over how to handle captured terrorist suspects without violating Americans' constitutional rights. The White House initially threatened to veto the legislation but dropped the warning after Congress made last-minute changes. ... The new law now requires military custody for any suspect who is a member of al-Qaida or "associated forces" and involved in planning or attempting to carry out an attack on the United States or its coalition partners. The president or a designated subordinate may waive the military custody requirement by certifying to Congress that such a move is in the interest of national security. The administration also pushed Congress to change a provision that would have denied U.S. citizens suspected of terrorism the right to trial and could have subjected them to indefinite detention. Lawmakers eventually dropped the military custody requirement for U.S. citizens or lawful U.S. residents. [BEALERT! Ed. Note: Much debate surrounds this - and if it is actually true] "My administration will not authorize the indefinite military detention without trial of American citizens," Obama said in the signing statement. "Indeed, I believe that doing so would break with our most important traditions and values as a nation." Despite the changes, officials cited serious concerns that the law will complicate and could harm the investigation of terrorism cases. For example, FBI Director Robert Mueller has said the measure would inhibit his bureau's ability to persuade suspected terrorists to cooperate immediately and provide critical intelligence. He told Congress it wasn't clear how agents should operate if they arrest someone covered by the military custody requirement but the nearest military facility is hundreds of miles away. Other officials have said agents and prosecutors should not have to spend their time worrying about citizenship status and whether get a waiver while trying to thwart a terror attack. The administration also raised concerns about an amendment in the bill that goes after foreign financial institutions that do business with Iran's central bank, barring them from opening or maintaining correspondent operations in the United States. It would apply to foreign central banks only for transactions that involve the sale or purchase of petroleum or petroleum products. ... The $662 billion bill authorizes money for military personnel, weapons systems, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and national security programs in the Energy Department for the fiscal year beginning Oct. 1. ... National Defense Authorization Act
Senate Passes Controversial Defense Bill |
NEW AMERICAN MAGAZINE [The John Birch Society] - By Raven Clabough - December 2, 2011
In the midst of allegations of police brutality and police aggression at the OWS protests, the U.S. Senate approved a bill that is said to "explicitly create a police state": the National Defense Authorization Act. The NDAA, passed by a vote of 93 to 7, virtually stated that all of the United States may be considered a battlefield, and therefore the American military is permitted to indefinitely detain any American perceived to be a threat.
Several amendments were proposed by both Democrats and Republican Senators, which would have deleted the dangerous provisions that would allow the indefinite detention of American citizens. While most of those amendments were overwhelming voted down, a single compromise amendment was passed that was intended to quell fears that American citizens may be imprisoned indefinitely, though skeptics remain uncomfortable with the final outcome.
According to Firedoglake.com, sections 1031 and 1032 of the NDAA will:
- 1) Explicitly authorize the federal government to indefinitely imprison without charge or trial American citizens and others picked up inside and outside the United States;
- (2) Mandate military detention of some civilians who would otherwise be outside of military control, including civilians picked up within the United States itself; and
- (3) Transfer to the Department of Defense core prosecutorial, investigative, law enforcement, penal, and custodial authority and responsibility now held by the Department of Justice.
AddictingInfo.org adds:
A provision of S. 1867, or the National Defense Authorization Act bill, written by Senators John McCain and Carl Levin, declares American soil a battlefield and allows the President and all future Chief Executives to order the military to arrest and detain American citizens, innocent or not, without charge or trial. In other words, if this bill passes and the President signs it, OWS protesters or any American could end up arrested and indefinitely locked up by the military without the guaranteed right to due process or a speedy trial.
Both Senators Mark Udall (D) and Rand Paul (R) proposed amendments to the bill that would have weakened the more dangerous provisions. ... Neither amendment made it into the Senate-passed version of the bill ...
In the end, Senators Feinstein and Lindsey Graham worked out a deal to pass an amendment that states, "Nothing in this section shall be construed to affect existing law or authorities relating to the detention of United States citizens, lawful resident aliens of the United States or any other persons who are captured or arrested in the United States." That compromise amendment passed 99 to 1, with only Senator Jon Kyl voting against it.
As noted by the Huffington Post:
The passage may head off a showdown with the White House, which had threatened to veto the entire bill on the grounds that the section on detentions tied the hands of counterterrorism officials in law enforcement and the military....
Left unresolved by the new language is just exactly what is constitutional when it comes to detaining American citizens in the United States. But opponents of the original provision said at least it would remain up to judges, not politicians.
"To this day the Supreme Court has never ruled on whether it is constitutional to indefinitely detain a U.S. citizen captured in the United States. Some of my colleagues see this differently, [but] the language we've agreed on makes it clear," said Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), who had been adamantly opposed to giving the military what he saw as greater reign over Americans at home.
"The Supreme Court will decide who can be detained; the United States Senate will not," Durbin said.
One amendment seemed to pass without issue: Senator McCain's amendment to provide for greater cyber-security collaboration between the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security. In other words, not only is all of the United States a battlefield, but so is the Internet.
During debate on the Senate floor, Senator Paul confronted John McCain, asking, "Would it be possible that an American citizen can then be declared an enemy combatant and sent to Guantanamo Bay and detained indefinitely?" McCain responded, "As long as that individual, no matter who they are, poses a threat to the security of the United States of America, should not be allowed to continue that threat." ...
Without an amendment to the bill, Americans faced a blow to their constitutional rights because the NDAA, as observed by Republican Congressman Justin Amash, allows the executive branch the power to determine who is a terrorist, whether they are a U.S. citizen or not. And without clarity on the language, that threat remains in place. "Note that [the provision] does not preclude U.S. citizens from being detained indefinitely, without charge or trial, it simply makes such detention discretionary," Amash wrote on his Facebook page.
The bill had the support of both Senate Republicans as well as some Democrats. In support of this bill, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) explained that the bill would "basically say in law for the first time that the homeland is part of the battlefield" and people can be imprisoned without charge or trial "American citizen or not."
"It is not unfair to make an American citizen account for the fact that they decided to help al Qaeda to kill us all and hold them as long as it takes to find intelligence about what may be coming next. And when they say, 'I want my lawyer,' you tell them, 'Shut up. You don't get a lawyer,'" Graham said. ...

Senate Clears Way to Pass Defense Authorization Act That Allows Military to Hold US Citizens Indefinitely Without Trial
|
GATEWAY PUNDIT - By Jim Hoft - December 1, 2011
On Tuesday the US Senate voted to keep a controversial provision in the National Defense Authorization Act that allows the US military to detain terrorism suspects on U.S. soil and hold them indefinitely without trial. The measure was opposed by civil libertarians on the left and right. The senate is looking to wrap up the bill by week's end. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) spoke out against the measure on the senate floor this week. According to Paul, having more than 7 Days of food makes you a suspected terrorist. Paul's top complaint is that an American could get just one hearing where the military could assert that the person is a suspected terrorist - and then they could be locked up for life.
Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) discussed this provision this week on the senate floor:
James Madison, father of the Constitution, warned, "The means of defense against foreign danger historically have become instruments of tyranny at home."
Abraham Lincoln had similar thoughts, saying "America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter, and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."
During war there has always been a struggle to preserve Constitutional liberties. During the Civil War the right of habeas corpus was suspended. Newspapers were closed down. Fortunately, these rights were restored after the war.
The discussion now to suspend certain rights to due process is especially worrisome given that we are engaged in a war that appears to have no end. Rights given up now cannot be expected to be returned. So, we do well to contemplate the diminishment of due process, knowing that the rights we lose now may never be restored.
My well-intentioned colleagues ignore these admonitions in defending provisions of the Defense bill pertaining to detaining suspected terrorists.
Their legislation would arm the military with the authority to detain indefinitely - without due process or trial - SUSPECTED al-Qaida sympathizers, including American citizens apprehended on American soil.
I want to repeat that. We are talking about people who are merely SUSPECTED of a crime. And we are talking about American citizens.
If these provisions pass, we could see American citizens being sent to Guantanamo Bay.
This should be alarming to everyone watching this proceeding today. Because it puts every single American citizen at risk.
There is one thing and one thing only protecting innocent Americans from being detained at will at the hands of a too-powerful state - our constitution, and the checks we put on government power. Should we err today and remove some of the most important checks on state power in the name of fighting terrorism, well, then the terrorists have won.
Detaining citizens without a court trial is not American. In fact, this alarming arbitrary power is reminiscent of Egypt's "permanent" Emergency Law authorizing preventive indefinite detention, a law that provoked ordinary Egyptians to tear their country apart last spring and risk their lives to fight.
It's weird that this power grab is not getting more play in the media, huh?

Bill S.1867 Legalization Of Martial Law, End Of The Republic
| UFO-BLOGGER.com - December 15, 2011 [...] The mainstream press when they mention the Bill at all pretend that Section 1031 which allows the armed forces to arrest anyone for mere suspicion or convenience and detain them for any length of time (to "disappear" them forever) without any need of a trial (the abandonment of habeus corpus) does not actually apply to American citizens. It does. According to Senator Carl Levin, one of the primary sponsors of the Bill,
"The language which precluded the application of Section 1031 to American citizens was in the bill that we originally approved ... and the [Obama] administration asked us to remove the language which says that U.S. citizens and lawful residents would not be subject to this section."
The clause which is always pointed out as excluding American citizens from this non-Constitutional violation of their life and liberty is in Section 1032 and says right there that it applies only to "this section" - i.e. to Section 1032 only. ...
Is it only a coincidence that just as this Bill is about to pass, this Bill which according to Ron Paul yesterday on Alex Jones' Infowars "legalizes martial law", a Halliburton subsidiary KBR is taking tenders for companies to operate services at the FEMA camps which have been established all over the country? Oh, that's right, these FEMA camps don't actually exist. They're putting out tenders for services and are hiring 100,000 "internment specialists" to staff camps that apparently don't exist.
Here is Section 1031 of Bill S.1867 in full. SEC. 1031. AFFIRMATION OF AUTHORITY OF THE ARMED FORCES OF THE UNITED STATES TO DETAIN COVERED PERSONS PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORIZATION FOR USE OF MILITARY FORCE.
(a) IN GENERAL.-Congress affirms that the authority of the President to use all necessary and appropriate force pursuant to the Authorization for Use of Military Force (Public Law 107-40) includes the authority for the Armed Forces of the United States to detain covered persons (as defined in subsection (b)) pending disposition under the law of war.
(b) COVERED PERSONS.-A covered person under this section is any person as follows:
(1) A person who planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, or harbored those responsible for those attacks.
(2) A person who was a part of or substantially supported al-Qaeda, the Taliban, or associated forces that are engaged in hostilities against the United States or its coalition partners, including any person who has committed a belligerent act or has directly supported such hostilities in aid of such enemy forces.
(c) DISPOSITION UNDER LAW OF WAR.-The disposition of a person under the law of war as described in subsection (a) may include the following:
(1) Detention under the law of war without trial until the end of the hostilities authorized by the Authorization for Use of Military Force.
(2) Trial under chapter 47A of title 10, United States Code (as amended by the Military Commissions Act of 2009 (title XVIII of Public Law 111-12 84)).
(3) Transfer for trial by an alternative court or competent tribunal having lawful jurisdiction.
(4) Transfer to the custody or control of the person's country of origin, any other foreign country, or any other foreign entity.
(d) CONSTRUCTION.-Nothing in this section is intended to limit or expand the authority of the President or the scope of the Authorization for Use of Military Force. (e) REQUIREMENT FOR BRIEFINGS OF CONGRESS.- The Secretary of Defense shall regularly brief Congress regarding the application of the authority described in this section, including the organizations, entities, and individuals considered to be ''covered persons'' for purposes of subsection (b)(2). ...

Detainment Camps Going Live: FEMA Seeking Subcontractors to Provide "Temporary Camp Services" In All 50 States |
SHTFplan.com - By Mac Slavo - December 7, 2011
For the better part of two decades FEMA detention camps were believed to be a figment of tin foil hat wearing conspiracy theorists. As more information over the years has been made available through alternative news researchers like Alex Jones in his full length documentary Police State 4 and former governor Jesse Venutra's FEMA camp expose, it is becoming increasingly clear that the government has been taking steps for quite some time to ensure a rapid and effective response in the event of a national disaster or U.S. military deployment on American soil.
As many of our readers know, the U.S. Senate recently passed the National Defense Authorization Act, which, it has been argued, authorizes the establishment of domestic war zones and the subsequent detention of those who are suspected of engaging in terrorist-related activity - including, arguably, U.S. citizens. What you may not know, however, is that just days after the passage of the act reports are surfacing that the Federal Emergency Management Agency, under the auspices of the Department of Homeland Security, is requisitioning private contractors to provide services for government, defense & infrastructure pertaining specifically to FEMA activities with respect to emergency services.
At first glance, this may seem like no big deal. Why shouldn't the government prepare for emergencies?
However, a review of an email made available through Info Wars from Kellogg, Brown & Root Services (KBR), a subsidiary of mega government contractor Haliburton, notes that the contracting opportunities available through the government and KBR are specifically for "temporary camp services and facilities."
-Kellogg, Brown and Root Services (KBR) is seeking subscontractors on a national basis to provide temporary camp services and facilities as part of its current and future emergency services contracts for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), and state/local government agencies.
-The continental US will be broken up into five regions - Services will be required in each State within each region.
-Establish services listed below within 72 hours for initial set-up and respond within 24 hours for incremental services. This is a CONTINGENCY PROJECT and it should be stressed that lead times will be short with critical requirements due to the nature of emergency responses. Subcontractors must be flexible and able to handle multiple, shifting priorities in an emergency environment. Supply lines needed must be short but not necessarily pre-positioned.
-The personnel on site to be covered by these services will depend on the size and scope of the recovery effort, but for estimating purposes the camp will range in size from 301 to 2,000 persons for up to 30 days in length.
The full RFI from KBR is available for your perusal via SHTFplan and details, among other things, the host of services that are required for temporary camp facilities:
- Catering Services
- Temporary Fencing and Barricades
- Hand Washing Stations
- Laundry Services
- Medical Services
- Office Trailers / Administration Areas
- Potable Water
- Power Generation, Fuel Delivery / Supply and Electrical Distribution
- Refuse Collection
- Shower and Toilet
- Tentage, Flooring, Electrical & HVAC
- Waste Water Removal
For all intents and purposes, FEMA / DHS is now activating camps across the nation - in all 50 states - and ramping them up for detainment if and when the need arises.
Security, while not mentioned in the KBR release, is an issue addressed previously under guidance of the U.S. military. In an August 2009 report we highlighted that the Army is Hiring for Internment/Resettlement Specialists, in which we noted:
It seems that the US Government is preparing for a high volume of military prisoners. We suspect these will not be foreign nationals, as we either kill them or detain them outside of the USA. So, one must conclude that these corrections, interment and resettlement specialists will be supervising US citizens. The military is calling them internment camps or resettlement camps. Back in World War II they were called by a different name.
Additionally, we have learned over the last couple of years that FEMA has requisitioned manufacturers for 140 Million Packets of Food, Blankets, and Body Bags, while the U.S. military is Actively War Gaming 'Large Scale Economic Breakdown' and 'Civil Unrest' which includes training for over 20,000 US military personnel for contingencies that may include riots and/or mass detentions.
While mainstream media will not report this, and most of the population will either ignore it or chalk it off as being once again blown out of proportion by the alternative news sphere, the evidence is right in front of us - it is overwhelming and very compelling.
Our government is, without a doubt, preparing for an event(s) that will likely result in the mass detentions of tens of thousands of individuals across the entire United States.

Go here to read the restored pages of suppressed FEMA documents Article Title: Government censors document revealing plans to wage war on Americans
| Within an hour of posting FEMA continuity of government plans, PDF pre-bid noticed deep sixed.
INFOWARS.com [Free Speech Systems, LLC/Alex Jones] - By Aaron Dykes - December 21, 2011
Within an hour of posting a critical FEMA document sourced publicly on a government website that discloses plans to hire contract employees under a continuity of government plan, that document was removed and replaced by the following cryptic warning against posting 'classified' documents:
ATTENTION: Agency users are responsible for properly uploading controlled, unclassified materials to FBO using the access control procedures for document packages and attachments detailed in the FBO Buyers Guide. Do not upload ANY classified materials to FBO.
The government-linked document we posted was marked 'Source Selection Sensitive' but not considered classified. Further, it was listed publicly on a government website that was soliciting bids for government contracts. However, despite its public classification, it contains information that clearly is NOT intended to gain wide publicity.
As we reported earlier, the highly contentious federal government plans for Continuity of Government (COG) are largely classified, yet have come to light in shards. Congressman Peter de Fazio made waves after going on the House floor to give a speech raising hell about how the plans for COG, including martial law, were not only classified, but kept secret from Congress, the only organ of public officialdom still tied directly to the people. Similarly, this clip shows the 1980s investigations into the Iran-Contra Affair where questions about the Rex 84 plan for martial law were met with sharp calls for silence for national security reasons:
However, there are plenty of completely public Homeland Security and FEMA documents detailing parts of the secretive COG plans for a national emergency. Among these is the document we covered earlier, as this document reveals not only detailed aspects of the COG personnel relocation plans and martial law takeover of communications, but a plan to militarily-target Americans and designate them as enemy combatants- dramatically, through a blue/red high-tech surveillance matrix aimed at suppressing dissidents and occupying the homeland. ...

Homeland Security surveillance detected on Christian website
|
WND [WorldNetDaily] - By Bob Unruh - July 30, 2011
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has begun watching a blog posted by a Christian who was forced to flee Brazil because of the conflict between that nation's pro-homosexual "hate crimes" agenda and his advocacy for traditional marriage. Exactly why the U.S. government, which several times has linked Christians and conservatives with terrorism, is watching Julio Severo's unabashedly Christian Last Days Watchman blog isn't clear. A WND request to the DHS for comment did not generate a response.
The website's records reveal the DHS visited the site yesterday. A different computer, also at the DHS, was on the site again today. WND reported in 2009, shortly after Obama took office, that a Department of Homeland Security report warned of the possibility of violence by unnamed "right-wing extremists" - people concerned about illegal immigration, increasing federal power, restrictions on firearms, abortion and the loss of U.S. sovereignty. The report pointed to returning war veterans as particular threats.
The visit yesterday was revealed in a website tracking report: [See link for full size pics] The visit today was documented in another report:
Severo was profiled earlier on WND when as a prominent pro-family activist in Brazil, he was forced into exile because of the "hate crimes" laws in his land. Several prominent Christian leaders in America at the time warned that similar crackdowns could be coming in the U.S. because of the federal "hate crimes" bill signed by Obama shortly after he took office. ...

What Janet Napolitano believes terrorists look like
| DHS video's subtle suggestion: Most likely terrorist is white middle class patriotic Christian American citizen WND [WorldNetDaily] - By Bob Unruh - August 19, 2011 Since Ramadan began for Muslims about two weeks ago, there have been 102 terror attacks around the world in the name of Islam, costing 439 lives, according to The Religion of Peace website. Its "Bombathon 2011 Scorecard" indicates that during the same period, there have been zero attacks in the name of all other religions costing zero lives and zero attacks by "anti-Muslim" right-wingers, again costing zero lives. So what does U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, a Barack Obama appointee, make terrorists look like in a new public service announcement that encourages Americans to report "suspicious" behavior to authorities? The DHS suggests a typical woman terrorist would be in her late 20s or early 30s, with brunette hair, stylish clothing, high heels and a shoulder bag, and Caucasian. A man? About the same age, short hair, wearing a shirt and slacks and familiar with technology, as he's wearing an earpiece cellphone. And Caucasian.
See the video that was released just days ago: (1)
 | 1: The Drop Off - If You See Something, Say Something PSA - 30 second |
The video follows by only weeks an earlier DHS video that featured nearly two dozen people as terrorists, of which 17 are white males, two are white females, one is a black female, one a black male and one of Middle Eastern descent.
It's here: (2)
 | 2: "If You See Something, Say Something (TM)" Public Awareness video. | So people are starting to question exactly why, if the goal is to alert citizens to the behavior of terrorists, aren't the Muslims who actually commit nearly all of the world's terror attacks not properly represented. ... The Daily Mail in the United Kingdom reported the video has caused "outrage by characterizing white middle class Americans as the most likely terrorists." The July video, the newspaper noted, portrays terrorists as white and "the people who report them are either black, Asian or Arab." "What would happen - it is asked - if it was the other way about?" ... Added a third, "It seems to me that the administration and the DHS's main concern for terrorism (worst enemy) these days is the patriotic Christian American citizen. I got news for you, you better pack a lunch..."
On a YouTube page featuring one of the videos from the government was a snide comment:
"Good afternoon, can I help you sir." "Yes, I would like to report something suspicious." "Certainly sir, what is that?" "Well, some planes are flying overhead today spraying the air with poison, someone's putting a toxic industrial byproduct called fluoride in my water, some guys at the airport tried to irradiate me, that swine flu vaccine my Dr wants to give me has toxic poisons in it and my Govt wants me to start spying on my neighbors." The Demonization of the Tea Party
| NEW AMERICAN MAGAZINE [The John Birch Society] - By Sam Blumenfeld - August 8, 2011 Now that the Tea Party has not only demonstrated its power to force the Republican Party to begin acting like a true party for less government, it has also shown that it has staying power. The elections of 2010 were just the beginning of the Tea Party's ascent to power in Washington, and the liberals are running scared. And when they run scared they begin calling names. In a two-hour, closed-door Democrat Caucus meeting, Rep. Mike Doyle of Pennsylvania angrily said, "We have negotiated with terrorists. This small group of terrorists have made it impossible to spend any money." Vice-President Biden agreed: "They have acted like terrorists." Biden later denied that he had said that, but after Politico published the remarks, spokeswoman Kendra Barkoff said: "The word was used by several members of Congress." And many prominent elite liberals are now using similar terms to describe the Tea Party enemy. In one of his columns in the New York Times, Thomas Friedman described the Tea Party as the GOP's "Hezbollah faction." And Maureen Dowd wrote that some Democrats were describing the Tea Party as "the Republican 'Taliban wing.' " ...

Occupy vs Tea Party: what their Twitter networks reveal
|
NEW SCIENTIST - By Peter Aldhous, San Francisco bureau chief - November 17, 2011
According to some political commentators, Occupy Wall Street is the left's answer to the Tea Party - driven by a similar anger towards elites. But the social networks of people tweeting about the two movements suggest that they have rather different dynamics. Those tweeting about the Tea Party emerge as a tight-knit "in crowd", following one another's tweets. By contrast, the network of people tweeting about Occupy consists of a looser series of clusters, in which the output of a few key people is being vigorously retweeted. ...

Can colleges demand students affirm homosexuality? Court to decide
|
BAPTIST PRESS [Southern Baptist Convention] - By Leigh Jones - December 2, 2011
ATLANTA -- The U.S. 11th Circuit Court of Appeals has heard arguments in a religious liberty case that could determine whether a college has the right to require students to profess certain beliefs about homosexuality in order to get a degree. Augusta State University, in east Georgia, put counseling student Jennifer Keeton on academic probation in 2010 after she acknowledged in private conversations and during class that she disagreed with homosexuality. School administrators claimed Keeton said it would be hard for her to counsel gay clients, a stance they said violated ethical standards for licensed counselors, as put forth by the American Counseling Association.
Faculty members also faulted Keeton for saying she wanted to work with conversion therapy -- which aims to help clients stop living a homosexual lifestyle -- after graduation. And the faculty feared Keeton might harm middle and high school students she was scheduled to work with as part of her degree plan, said Cristina Correia, the state attorney who argued the school's case. ... After putting her on probation, school administrators required Keeton to complete a remediation plan that included going to gay pride events, attending sensitivity training and writing monthly reflection papers. Keeton declined to participate in the plan, and the Alliance Defense Fund filed suit on her behalf in July 2010. ...
"It was Miss Keeton's communication of her religion-founded beliefs on sexual ethics which the faculty reported as the justification for their imposing remediation in the first place, and which they condemned as problematic and in need of alteration," he wrote. Shafer claims Keeton's First Amendment rights were violated because the school targeted her for her expressed viewpoints. He compared the school's attempt to alter Keeton's beliefs in order to remain in the counseling program to a business school that required students to affirm capitalism or disavow socialism in order to graduate. ...

Turning Schoolchildren Into Informants?
| GODFATHER POLITICS - By Bojidar Marinov - December 13, 2011 Pavlik Morozov was a well-known name in the Soviet Union and the whole Communist bloc. According to the official story, he was 14-years old in 1932, the year of Stalin's forceful collectivization of the farms in the Cossack regions of Ukraine, Kuban, and Volga. Pavlik's family opposed the collectivization and forged documents to prevent the confiscation of grain, livestock, and land which the Communist commissars conducted in their campaign to force the peasants into kolhozy (collective farms). Pavlik, a devout Communist from an early age, and a member of the Youth Communist League, reported on his father's activities. His father was arrested and sued. In an act of retaliation, Pavlik's grandfather and uncles rounded up Pavlik and his two 8-year-old brothers and stabbed them to death.
60 years later a Russian journalist discovered that the story was completely made up by the Communist propaganda. A boy named Pavlik did exist, but he was killed by a commissar, and then his father, grandfather, and uncles were killed by a police squad.
But for 50 years the story was told and re-told, of how a young boy became a martyr for reporting on his family to the Soviet authorities. In a children's comics at the time, Pavlik watches his father counting money and asks him, "What are you doing, Daddy? Selling out the Soviet state?" The father jumps to get the boy and kill him but the boy flees and goes through deep snow to the local police station to report. There a friendly handsome commissar accepts the report and treats Pavlik like a real father. Thus millions of Soviet children were taught in school that their families are potential enemies of the state. And the state, of course, is like that handsome, friendly caring commissar who gives justice to the enemies and treats children in the best possible way.
By the 1980s, the result of such policies was obvious everywhere in the Soviet Union: never before has a culture developed such intense emotional hatred between the generations. The Soviet Union had more teenagers running away from home than any other nation in the world. Children abused parents, parents distrusted and abused children, families were broken, and the percentage of single mothers remains the highest in the world even to this day. The training and encouraging children to be the state's informants on their parents produced fruit, and it produced it abundantly.
The same anti-family policy apparently is becoming a policy of the United States government. And just like in the Soviet Union, it will implemented through the government schools. Last week, the White House revealed a broad new strategy for "battling homegrown terrorism." That is, the rampant terrorism that we have here in the United States, greater than even in Iraq and Afghanistan. The strategy is even broader and more all-encompassing than the one our military has in Iraq or Afghanistan because here it will include all levels of government, including local governments and agencies.
And the schools. A major partner in it will be the Department of Education. That is, schools will now become "battleground America," a place for gathering information, and for training Americans to battle terrorism. It will specifically focus on "preventing" terrorism. "Prevent," of course, is a word of the vocabulary of the Soviet Union of the times of Stalin, ... The results won't be different than those in the Soviet Union.

Is Socialism's True Father-Satan?
|
CANADA FREE PRESS (CFP) [Indy Media-Online/Judi McLeod] - By Kelly OConnell - November 6, 2011
The bible of modern community activists-Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals-contains a surprising yet highly illustrative dedication, a paean to Satan. And as unorthodox as this move might seem, it is actually a Marxist trope to dedicate oneself to the Devil. In fact, many early socialists did this before Alinsky was born. And the depth of seriousness and feeling is not to be doubted. Satan is highly regarded by some socialists. ...
The history of socialism is rooted in the aftermath of the French Revolution, yet has precedents in ideas developed in the medieval Church. Moreover, the earliest socialists tended to cluster around Paris and London. Socialism combines a rejection of some of the excesses of the Industrial Revolution, along with certain ideas taken from a humanistic reading of the Bible, yet demands a wholesale rejection of a literal reading of Holy Writ.
The earliest socialists were radicals who sought to overturn the established order. The essential idea motivating socialism was a rejection of private property. This is perhaps the greatest claim in the history of leftism, the idea that private property is taken from the poor, by definition. Or, quoting Pierre-Joseph Proudhon-"Property is Theft." New World Encyclopedia describes the rise of early socialism,
The term "socialism" was first used in the context of early nineteenth-century western European social critics as mass society was beginning to develop with the modern bureaucratic state and the mass production of goods through industrialization. The ideas were rooted in doctrines and social experiments associated with British and French thinkers. These theorists advocated reforms such as the equal distribution of wealth and the transformation of society into small communities in which private property was to be abolished. ...
