So the dragon was enraged with the woman, and went off to make war with the rest of her children, who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus.

Shalom and Greetings in Christ Jesus,

Be Alert!

It has been a while since the last issue of 'BE/\LERT!' wholly devoted to the topic of Christian persecution. If it were not for ministries charged with the mission of sounding the alarm regarding persecution of the saints and small Independent Christian and secular media sources that cover the topic, most of us would be unaware of the tribulations and mass slaughter our brethren around the world are facing. Rarely does the Mainstream Media (MSM) cover this topic (even though it could be considered a global holocaust in it's own right) choosing rather to ignore it in favor of the propaganda of the spirit of the age which is generally everything and anything that puts true Bible believing Christians, Christianity and State of Israel in a poor light whether true or not.

There is one thing that needs to be clearly understood by believers seeking truth in these last days: (Not by any means seeking to dishonor the men and women in uniform who serve and protect our nations at home and abroad), the NATO beast that has been shredding and stopping down one Muslim and Middle Eastern rgime after another since the first Bush presidency has done absolutely nothing for the sake of Christians around the world. If fact, it has made conditions all the worst in nearly every case and continues to do so.

As you will see in the articles below, this "Military Industrial Complex" headed up by the US and NATO has helped to abolish every Christian church in Afghanistan, nearly wiped Christianity out of Iraq and through the organization of the "Arab Muslim Spring" is in the process of ridding Egypt of Christians not to mention anywhere else Islam has a strong foothold. Yet, even though accounts of NATO carpet bombing civilians in Libya near Tripoli was reported by more than one independent source (ignored of course by the MSM) all we still hear from the UN is how evil Israel is along with the terrible plight of the Palestinians whom all other Muslims hate and would be warring against if it weren't for the fact that they hate Jews more. With the announcement of the death of Muammar al-Gaddafi, it will be interesting to see what happens in Libya and if there is peace or Civil war and how this eventually plays into the Magog prophecies of Ezekiel 38 and 39. Gaddafi's death is another feather in the cap of the Pentagon's drone program, something that should strike fear into every leader and lawless terrorist on the loose around the world.

However, by these statements I am not giving the antichrist religion of Islam a pass since according to Sharia the goal is to either tax, outlaw or murder all who do not bow to Allah and his false prophet Mohammed. Islamist organizations (those are terrorists) would not have the amount of power they do if they were not primarily founded, funded, trained and armed by Western intelligence groups such as the CIA to carry out their dirty dealings. Just like "Fast and Furious" shipping guns to the blood thirsty drug cartels in Mexico it seems most of the weapons out in the world killing our own men and women (and I would suggest slaughtering many defenseless Christians) have been funneled through that great so-called bulwark of freedom called Washington D.C. Moreover, I can assure you that both Democrats and Republicans have been involved in this sick and twisted "blood for money" game in the American government for many years.

This is what other researchers have referred to as the Anglo-American control of energy, banking, military, and food production, called "Full-Spectrum Dominance." Even though this oil sits in the ground of many of the Islamic countries in The Middle East and there exists even a "front" group called OPEC, the real power lies in the ability to control the distribution and that is what Iraq and Afghanistan are mainly about as well as cutting off China and Russia as outlined in The Grand Chessboard: American Primacy And Its Geostrategic Imperatives written by Zbigniew Brzezinski. Many Geo-Political observers and researchers having pointed to this book, written in 1997, as the "New World Order" textbook of the moment as this editorial review posted on Amazon.com sums up: "Brzezinski casts Eurasia as the playing field upon which the world's fate is determined ... Like a grandmaster in chess, he plots his strategy several moves in advance ...". Yet, this is all done in the name of "Democracy" and each US President goes on television and gloats about the accomplishments knowing well it is one big fraud. It is no wonder that the Kings of the East make a run when they do according to prophecy. The question I ask myself regarding this present day power structure is whether it belongs to the makings of the coming global beast system or the woman riding it that will be destroyed.

Meanwhile we have "The Arab Spring" 'spirit' moving into "Occupy Wall Street". Certainly, a number of their concerns are understandable and even commendable as I, and I would surmise many of you would agree. However, it is their complete lack of reason and understanding and spiritual darkness they are under that puts them in league with the protesters of the "Arab Spring" that the organizers of the marches have looked to as an inspiration and a model. Depending on what network coverage news report you watch gives a completely different spin just like the Tea Party rallies. This time most of the MSM makes the rallies look reasonable and the protesters look like normal Americans as much as possible. FOX News usually shows the worst most freaked out hippie types and those who are breaking the law. I was able to catch a Middle East report in Arabic translated and it made the it look like the "Arab Spring" had taken over the entire US. What I find is that the majority of Americans dislike the banksters on Wall Street but also don't care much for the delusional protesters either. Nevertheless, the endless bickering in the US Congress and media about what amounts to adding or cutting one lifeboat from the sinking Titanic keeps the American people glued to a stupefying and hypnotizing game of ping pong and the sheep are growing angry and tired.

These are clearly evil and deceptive days and the Western church and especially the American church has to awaken to what is really happening regarding the Body of Christ as a whole. Much of what our nation is doing and has done has had a very detrimental effect to the church. No other country pumps more evil into the world than the United States with her trafficking, war machine, evil merchandise, filthy lucre, marketing and false gospel that has polluted this world into total drunkenness. Think about how many Christmas holiday decorations are made in China by Christian slave labor camps only to be bought by the Laodicean church in America. The only thing that has been of value is the true church spreading the true gospel along with our support of Israel.

Long term I do not know what that means, but up to now it has been bad for the church and with a number of these nations, it does not look all that great for Israel as well.

Below are a number of articles covering the road towards the opening of the 5th seal, the time for incite and wisdom is now, the time to fill your lamps with oil is now.

May the Lord bless you and keep you,

BE/\LERT!

Obama's Christian problem
White House overlooks Christian persecution while pandering to Islam
Obama & Islam
Islamic pandering President Obama
THE WASHINGTON TIMES [News World Communications/Moon-Unification Church] - EDITORIAL - October 12, 2011
The Obama administration has been obsessed with Muslim outreach and recently tried to mend fences with the Jewish community. Given the state of the world, however, the White House ought to be focused on helping the world's oppressed Christians.

The United States has been wary to intervene in matters affecting Christians in the Middle East for fear of validating terrorist narratives that the West is engaged in a new crusade against Islam. The result of this passive policy has been to allow Islamic extremists increasingly to dominate the debate, often with tragic consequences.

On Sunday in Egypt, a clash between Coptic Christians and the military left at least 25 dead. Copts are the largest religious minority in Egypt, representing about 10 percent of the population. Attacks on the Copts have increased since former President Hosni Mubarak's ouster. That the military was involved in this incident was a signal that matters are taking a turn for the worse. The White House issued a lukewarm condemnation noting that President Obama is "deeply concerned about the violence in Egypt" and that "as the Egyptian people shape their future, the United States continues to believe that the rights of minorities - including Copts - must be respected." In other words, the U.S. government will do nothing about the massacre of Christians.

Smaller Christian communities face even greater challenges. The world awaits definitive news about Iranian pastor Yousef Nadarkhani, who faced execution for apostasy after converting to Christianity from Islam. Sayed Mussa, an Afghan Red Cross worker who converted to Christianity, faced the death penalty. He was freed earlier this year after his case gained international attention but went immediately into hiding due to the public climate of hostility.

According to the State Department's International Religious Freedom Report, the last Christian church in Afghanistan has been destroyed. The 500 to 8,000 Afghan Christians who wish to worship publicly can attend services at military bases, Provincial Reconstruction Team facilities and the Italian embassy, but there are obvious risks involved. State's report says, "the U.S. government regularly discusses religious freedom with [Afghan] government officials as part of its overall policy to promote human rights." Considering all the aid America has given Afghanistan over the last decade, the State Department should do more than just talk.

Domestically, Mr. Obama faces a skeptical Christian majority going into the 2012 election. According to Gallup, the president is lauded by the Islamic-American community, with 80 percent approval, but Muslims are a fraction of a percent of the population and an insignificant electoral base. Among major Christian groups, Catholics gave 50 percent approval, Protestants (representing over half the U.S. population) 37 percent, and Mormons 25 percent.

Those who are more devout give Mr. Obama lower marks than those for whom religion is unimportant. According to the most recent Gallup data, Mr. Obama has 43 percent approval of those who attend church "seldom or never," which is 2 points above that survey's national average. Among those who attend church weekly, his approval rate is 34 percent, seven points below average. It's no mystery why America's Christian faithful have little faith in Mr. Obama.

Countries With Worst Religious Freedom Grades Are Mostly Islamic
Organization of Islamic Conference/Cooperation (OIC)
Organization of Islamic Conference/Cooperation (OIC)
CYBERCAST NEWS SERVICE (CNSN.com) [Media Research Center] - By Patrick Goodenough - August 10, 2011
Muslim-majority countries score worst across a range of measures in a comprehensive new study tracking government restrictions on religion as well as social hostilities involving religion around the world.

The study by the Pew Research Center's Forum on Religion & Public Life ... found that nearly one-third of the world's population lives in countries where religion-related government restrictions or social hostilities rose significantly between mid-2006 and mid-2009. ...

Digging deeper, the 117-page report reveals that countries belonging to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) dominate many of the most serious measures tracked at the end of the survey period in mid-2009.

Seven of the ten countries with the highest - that is, worst - grades when it comes to government restrictions on religion were OIC countries - Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, Maldives, Malaysia and Indonesia. The other three were China, Burma and Eritrea.

Of the 10 countries on that benchmark index, six are designated by the U.S. government as "countries of particular concern" for religious freedom violations - Burma, China, Eritrea, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan.

A separate index in the Pew report graded countries according to levels of social hostility involving religion. Eight of the top ten countries in that index were Muslim-majority states - Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Somalia, Indonesia, Nigeria, Bangladesh and Egypt. The other two, India and Israel, have Hindu and Jewish majorities respectively, and large Muslim minorities.

In an index measuring official interference with religious practice, 18 out of 26 countries (69 percent) whose government "prohibits worship or religious practices of one or more religious groups as a general policy," were OIC members - Brunei, Chad, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritania, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

The other eight were Burma, China, Eritrea, Laos, Madagascar, Monaco, Tuvalu and Vietnam.

A grading of countries where conversion from one religion to another is restricted was also dominated by Islamic states, accounting for 25 out of 29 countries listed (86 percent). They were Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Comoros, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritania, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan and Yemen.

The four non-Muslim countries were Eritrea, India, Israel and Vietnam.

Taking the conversion issue a step further, among 13 countries where there were incidents of physical violence over conversions from one religion to another, 10 (77 percent) were Muslim - Afghanistan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Comoros, Egypt, Jordan, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia and Syria. The other three were India, Mongolia and Nepal.

Sixteen out of 26 countries/territories where "religion-related terrorist groups" perpetrated violence that resulted in ten or more injuries or deaths" were OIC members - Afghanistan, Algeria, Azerbaijan, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Mauritania, Niger, Pakistan, Palestinian territories, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Uzbekistan and Yemen

The 10 non-Muslim countries were Central African Republic, China, Congo, Ethiopia, India, Israel, Nepal, Philippines, Russia and Sri Lanka. (The report does not provide a breakdown of actual attacks, but in at least some of those countries - India, Israel, the Philippines and Russia - terror activity is largely attributed to Islamist groups.) ...

United States CPC list is
PC (politically correct) and PP (political pragmatism)

Administration's List of Religious Freedom Violators Excludes Pakistan, Despite Blasphemy Laws
Obama & Rick Warren
Fellow pragmatists Obama & Rick Warren
CYBERCAST NEWS SERVICE (CNSN.com) [Media Research Center] - By Patrick Goodenough - September 16, 2011
Almost 32 months after taking office, the Obama administration has for the first time designated "countries of particular concern" (CPCs) for religious persecution.
But despite urging from religious freedom advocates, it did not add several countries accused of egregious violations. Instead, it designated the same eight countries that were named as CPCs the last time such designations were made, four days before President Bush left the White House.

The countries designated this week as Secretary of State Hillary Clinton released the annual report on international religious freedom were Burma, China, Eritrea, Iran, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and Uzbekistan.
CPC designation and the annual report are requirements under the 1998 International Religious Freedom Act (IRFA), which was designed to make the promotion of religious freedom around the world part of U.S. foreign policy.

Countries designated as CPCs - because their governments perpetrate or condone "systematic, ongoing, and egregious" abuses - face U.S. actions, including sanctions and diplomatic pressure to encourage improvements, although punitive actions may be waived.
The IRFA also established an independent, bipartisan body, the U.S. Commission for International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), to advise the executive and legislative branches.

USCIRF Chairman Leonard Leo commended the State Department's International Religious Freedom Office and ambassador-at-large for religious freedom Suzan Johnson Cook for their efforts, and he urged the administration to follow the release of the annual report "with vigorous U.S. diplomatic activity to seek improvements with respect to this fundamental human right."
But Leo voiced disappointment that the administration had not heeded the commission's recommendation to add to the CPC list Egypt, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan, Turkmenistan and Vietnam.

"Repeating the current list continues glaring omissions, such as Pakistan and Vietnam," he said. "Since CPC designations can be made at any time, we respectfully urge Secretary Clinton to consider the six additional countries we recommended for designation."

Of those six, Iraq and Vietnam were previous designated CPCs. The Bush administration removed Iraq in 2004, following the fall of the Baathist regime; and Vietnam in 2006, citing improvements as a result of active lobbying of the communist authorities in Hanoi.

Pointing to abuses against Buddhists, Catholics and evangelicals, religious freedom advocacy groups opposed the removal of Vietnam from the outset. And they say the plight of religious minorities - especially Christians - in Iraq has been getting steadily worse for several years, with the authorities neither protecting the vulnerable nor bringing perpetrators to justice.

The USCIRF says that since 2008 Egypt has witnessed a dramatic increase in violence targeting the Coptic Christian minority, while in Nigeria the government "has failed even to attempt to stem" escalating cycles of violence between Christians and Muslims. In Turkmenistan, "official harassment of religious adherents persist."

'Millions of Pakistani Christians surprised'
The administration's failure to designate Pakistan as a CPC is particularly troublesome, given the recent spotlight on the country's blasphemy laws and the murder early this year of two prominent opponents of the laws. ...

Not a Single Christian Church Left in Afghanistan, Says State Department

CYBERCAST NEWS SERVICE (CNSN.com) [Media Research Center] - By Edwin Mora - October 10, 2011
There is not a single, public Christian church left in Afghanistan, according to the U.S. State Department.
This reflects the state of religious freedom in that country ten years after the United States first invaded it and overthrew its Islamist Taliban regime.
In the intervening decade, U.S. taxpayers have spent $440 billion to support Afghanistan's new government and more than 1,700 U.S. military personnel have died serving in that country.

The last public Christian church in Afghanistan was razed in March 2010, according to the State Department's latest International Religious Freedom Report. The report, which was released last month and covers the period of July 1, 2010 through December 31, 2010, also states that "there were no Christian schools in the country."
"There is no longer a public Christian church; the courts have not upheld the church's claim to its 99-year lease, and the landowner destroyed the building in March [2010]," reads the State Department report on religious freedom. "[Private] chapels and churches for the international community of various faiths are located on several military bases, PRTs [Provincial Reconstruction Teams], and at the Italian embassy. Some citizens who converted to Christianity as refugees have returned."

In recent times, freedom of religion has declined in Afghanistan, according to the State Department.
"The government's level of respect for religious freedom in law and in practice declined during the reporting period, particularly for Christian groups and individuals," reads the State Department report.
"Negative societal opinions and suspicion of Christian activities led to targeting of Christian groups and individuals, including Muslim converts to Christianity," said the report. "The lack of government responsiveness and protection for these groups and individuals contributed to the deterioration of religious freedom."

Most Christians in the country refuse to "state their beliefs or gather openly to worship," said the State Department.
More than 1,700 U.S. military personnel have died serving in the decade-old Afghanistan war, according to CNSNews.com's database of all U.S. casualties in Afghanistan. A September audit released jointly by the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction and the State Department's Office of Inspector General, found that the U.S. government will spend at least $1.7 billion to support the civilian effort from 2009-2011.

According to that report, the $1.7 billion excludes additional security costs, which the report says the State Department priced at about $491 million.
A March 2011 report by the Congressional Research Service showed that overall the United States has spent more than $440 billion in the Afghanistan war. Christian aid from the international community has also gone to aid the Afghan government.
Nevertheless, according to the State Department, the lack of non-Muslim religious centers in Afghanistan can be blamed in part on a "strapped government budget," which is primarily fueled by the U.S. aid. ...

Christians in Iraq victims of targeted killings and kidnappings
BARNABAS FUND - October 5, 2011
Two Christians were murdered in northern Iraq this week; their deaths come as three kidnapped Christians were released following the payment of a hefty ransom.
The body of Emmanuel Hanna Paules (60) was found in Kirkuk on 30 September; it appears that he had been strangled and shot. Another Christian, Bassam Eshoo (30), was shot dead by a group of unknown assailants in the restaurant where he worked in Mosul, on 2 October.
Three Christians who had been kidnapped, along with a companion, near Kirkuk, were released on 30 September, having been held captive for just over a week. A large undisclosed ransom was paid to secure their release.
Pertus Georges (60), Noweya Yelda (43), Ashor Dawood (61) and their Turkmen companion Junkies Ezzeddine were taken hostage by unidentified gunmen while on a hunting trip. Their Land Rover was set ablaze, killing their hunting dogs inside.
A source in Kirkuk, who wished to remain anonymous for security reasons, said:
The attacks on Christians continue and the world remains totally silent. It's as if we've been swallowed up by the night.
The killings and kidnappings follow a spate of attacks on churches in Kirkuk. Five were targeted with bombs in the space of three weeks in August. ...

Shariah advances as constitution is rewritten
Sudanese leader setting up Christians for suffering
WND [WorldNetDaily] - By Michael Carl - October 20, 2011
Sudanese leader Omer Hassan Al-Bashir is moving forward with rewriting the country's constitution to implement Shariah law, according to reports from organizations with links inside the Muslim-dominated nation.
International Christian Concern's North Africa specialist Jonathan Racho says that a Shariah-compliant constitution will mean more suffering for Sudan's remaining Christians.
"This new law (Shariah compliant constitution) is going to affect a significant number of Christians who live in places like Khartoum (the capital city). There are still a significant number of Christians in Sudan," Racho said.

"If Al-Bashir introduces this Shariah law and if he's going to go ahead and adopt an entirely Islamic constitution, Christians and other non-Muslims who live in Sudan will be treated like second-class citizens," Racho said.
"They will be dhimmis and they will not have full rights in the freedom of religion," Racho said. ...
Racho says its highly probable that Al-Bashir is moving forward because he believes most of the Christians have left the north.

"Al-Bashir said that 98 percent of the country is Muslim so the new constitution will reflect this reality," Racho said.
Global Response Network  Founder and President Tom Zurowski  says that while he hasn't heard anything specific, the move fits al-Bashir's pattern. ...
"The Islamization of Sudan (North and South and the rest of the African continent) has been the goal of Bashir's government for years," Zurowski said.

"They will have no restraint and will welcome radical elements of Islam with no fear of the international community," Zurowski said. ...
"If Bashir wants the backing of neighboring Arab nations, he must fully embrace Shariah or be seen as a weak leader (or link) among other Arab countries. His ego and arrogance will not allow for that," Zurowski said.
"Though he may not like the south breaking from the north (over oil revenues and having to accept defeat), you can be sure that he enjoys the thought of ridding the north of any non-Muslim black Africans," Zurowski said. ...

South Sudan's independence took a major portion of Sudan's oil revenues and Al-Bashir is facing a new economic climate as a result. ...
"Sudan lost 75 percent of its oil reserves after the south became an independent state which fueled an unprecedented economic boom since the signing of the 2005 Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA)," the Sudan Tribune story also said. ...
"We (ICC) also want the American Christian community to know that the secession of the South doesn't end the plight of Christians so they should continue to advocate on behalf of the Christians in Sudan," Racho said.

The Prince of Persia
Exiled Christian Iranians receive death threats
BELIEFNET [BN Media Associates] - By Rob Kerby, Senior Editor - October 6, 2011
Eleven Iranian Christians who fled their homeland for fear of the government have received threatening emails calling on them to renounce Christianity and return to Shi'ite Islam - or be killed.

The emails were from "the unknown soldiers of the Hidden Imam," but are believed to have come from the Iranian security services. The "Hidden Imam" is the Shi'ite Messiah. Shi'ites in the "Twelver" sect, believe that Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥasan al-Mahdi, born July 29, 869, will return to earth as the ultimate savior of humankind. They teach that he did not die at age five, but rather has been hidden by Allah and at the end of time will emerge to set up a worldwide califate in which the entire globe converts to Shi'a Islam or else dies by the sword.

The emails warned the recipients that although they may have managed to flee Iran, they are not hidden from the "acute eyes of the unknown soldiers." The letter accuses them of advancing the cause of Zionism - although all eleven are evangelical Christians.

The email concludes by offering the eleven Christians "the opportunity to repent and ask forgiveness from the presence of the Hidden Imam and the Great Allah. Otherwise, according to the Fatwa given by Mehdi the Hidden Imam, they must be killed."

Samuel Yeghnazar of Elam Ministries, who fled Iran after years of being closely involved in the house church movement there, said that he and his network of churches are taking the threat very seriously.

The threats come as the world awaits word of the fate of evangelical Christian pastor Yousef Nadarkhani - condemned to death for refusing to denounce Jesus Christ as his savior and return to Islam. Following a demonstration in London in support of Pastor Nadarkhani, the Iranian Embassy in London released a statement claiming that fears of a death sentence were "unsubstantiated." Meanwhile, the Iranian news agency reported a variety of wild charges against the pastor, including that he had a history of violent crime, that he ran a brothel, that he had been convicted of rape and that he was an Israeli spy. Iranian Christians said the most worrying disinformation being spread is that he is a Zionist "working against the Islamic Order."

Yeghnazar pointed to the continuing threat of execution of Pastor Nadarkhani as well as the death threats, calling them indicative of the "utter hypocrisy of a government that claims Christians live in freedom." In the last eleven months at least 137 Christians have suffered arrests and interrogations because of their faith. Nearly forty were imprisoned.

Christian leader Fashid Fathi-Malayeri has been imprisoned for nine months - much of which was spent in solitary confinement. He has had no access to a lawyer and still has not been informed of the charges against him. His wife and two small children have fled Iran for their own safety.

"The threat against the eleven Iranian citizens is an appalling and vicious move," said Christian Solidarity Worldwide Chief Executive Officer Mervyn Thomas. "It is vital that countries hosting Iranian refugees and asylum seekers ensure these vulnerable people receive adequate protection, and make it clear to the Iranian authorities that cross-border assassinations are wholly unacceptable and will not be tolerated."

Thomas noted that court documents over the last year clearly state that the charges against Nadarkhani is apostasy and that the death sentence was upheld by the Supreme Court when he would not repent of that charge. Iran's efforts to fabricate a variety of preposterous charges against Pastor Nadarkhani "this late in the day reflect badly on the ruling regime and will only serve to bring the Iranian legal system into disrepute and occasion further questions regarding the independence of the judiciary."

Retrial Ordered for Iranian Pastor Facing Death Sentence for Christian Beliefs

FOX NEWS [News Corporation/Murdoch] - October 11, 2011
Iran's Supreme Court has ordered a retrial for a pastor sentenced to death for refusing to renounce his Christian beliefs.
State media reported that the high court sent the case back to lower court because of concerns about the initial investigation.
"If there is an appeal and the case is returned to the supreme court, the case will be reviewed," read a statement quoted by ISNA, the Iranian student's news agency, AFP reports.

Youcef Nadarkhani, a 32-year-old pastor, was arrested in October 2009 and later sentenced to death for converting to Christianity.
His attorney, Mohammad Ali Dadkhah, and religious rights organizations say Nadarkhani is facing possible execution for apostasy and for refusing to renounce his religion, contradicting reports by Iran state media that have indicated Nadarkhani was found guilty of rape, extortion and security-related crimes.
The case reportedly had been referred to Iran's supreme leader, a move some say shows the Islamic republic is feeling pressure in the face of growing international support.

Dadkhah told AFP on Monday that an Iranian court has decided to seek the opinion of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei -- the Islamic republic's spiritual leader and highest authority.
Jordan Sekulow, executive director of the American Center for Law and Justice, a Washington-based organization that is monitoring Nadarkhani's case, told FoxNews.com that the move was unusual and is part of the "secretive process" within the Iranian judicial system.
"Based on these reports, Pastor Youcef is alive and we have reached the highest level of Iranian government," Sekulow said on Monday. "I don't believe this would've ever reached the level of Khamenei without the media attention and outpouring of support we've seen."

Sekulow said the move to involve Khamenei in a case before a regional court is uncommon and indicates that "Iran is feeling the pressure" of the growing international community in support of Nadarkhani.
As of Friday, at least 39 members of Congress had signed a letter calling on Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to put pressure on Iranian authorities to release Nadarkhani, who, according to reports last week from Iranian state-funded Press TV, is now considered a security threat and previously operated a brothel. Judiciary Chief Mohammad-Javad Heshmati of Iran's Gilan Province told the station on Wednesday that no verdict had been reached and that an execution order had not yet been issued. ...

Iranian Pastor Faces Execution for Refusing to Recant Christian Faith
FOX NEWS [News Corporation/Murdoch] - By Joshua Rhett Miller - September 28, 2011
An Iranian pastor who has refused to renounce his Christian faith faces execution as early as Wednesday after his sentence was upheld by an Iranian court.
Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani, who maintains he has never been a Muslim as an adult, has Islamic ancestry and therefore must recant his faith in Jesus Christ, the 11th branch of Iran's Gilan Provincial Court ruled. Iran's Supreme Court had ordered the trial court to determine whether Nadarkhani had been a Muslim prior to converting to Christianity.
The judges, according to the American Center for Law & Justice, demanded that Nadarkhani, 34, recant his Christian faith before submission of evidence. Though the judgment runs against current Iranian and international laws and is not codified in Iranian penal code, the judge stated that the court must uphold the decision of the 27th Branch of the Supreme Court in Qom.

When asked to repent, Nadarkhani stated: "Repent means to return. What should I return to? To the blasphemy that I had before my faith in Christ?"
"To the religion of your ancestors, Islam," the judge replied, according to the American Center for Law & Justice.
"I cannot," Nadarkhani said.
Nadarkhani is the latest Christian cleric to be imprisoned in Iran for his religious beliefs. According to Elam Ministries, a United Kingdom-based organization that serves Christian churches in Iran, there was a significant increase in the number of Christians arrested solely for practicing their faith between June 2010 and January 2011. ...

CHRISTIAN SOLIDARITY WORLDWIDE - October 2, 2011
Pastor Nadarkhani's trial ended on 28 September, and sources close to CSW indicate that the judges should issue their final ruling on and announce a timeframe for execution within one week.  However, others fear that the death sentence could be implemented without any prior announcement, as has occurred in the past in Iran.
CSW is continuing to advocate on behalf of Pastor Nadarkhani - speaking up, raising awareness among the international community and media, and urging key international players to intervene on his behalf .
Continued international vigilance and pressure is vital: the life of this man is still very much in the balance.

Reports: Iran Seizes Thousands of Bibles; Destroys Church

WORTHY NEWS - August 18, 2011
TEHRAN, IRAN - Iranian authorities seized thousands of Bibles in north-west Iran and destroyed a church in the Islamic country's south-east as part of a wider crackdown on Christianity, Iranian Christians said in messages monitored by Worthy News.
Iranian Christian news agency Mohabat News quoted Majid Abhari, an advisor to the social issues committee of Iran's parliament, as saying 6,500 Bibles were seized in recent days between the cities of Zanjan and Abhar in Zanjan Province. ...

Bibles Burned
Earlier in November of 2010 police officers and revolutionary guards seized 300 bibles from a bus after its inspection and burned them all in the village of Darishk, Christians said.
The seizure of Bibles comes amid mounting pressure on churches, including in the south-eastern city of Kerman, where authorities have destroyed a main church, added Mohabat News ...
St. Andaryas, or Andrew, Church was built in 1950 in the center of the city when Reza Shah Pahlavi was Iran's king.
Before the destruction, the church building was already registered as "a national monument" in 2009 ... Soon officials "didn't care about it's reconstruction" and destroyed the building "completely," Mohabat News said.

Churches Concerned
There are concerns that church buildings in other cities will also be destroyed, Iranian Christians said. ...
Iranian church leaders claim President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's government is concerned about many Muslims converting to Christianity in a country where devoted Christians number at least 100,000, up from just about 500 known believers in 1979, according to church group estimates.

Egypt Christians mourn dead after clashes kill 25
Middle East Persecution
REUTERS [Thomson-Reuters] - By Tamim Elyan and Edmund Blair - October 10, 2011
CAIRO - Egyptian Christians mourned their dead and berated the army on Monday after at least 25 people were killed when troops crushed a protest about an attack on a church in the worst violence since the uprising that toppled Hosni Mubarak.
Armored personnel carriers sped into the crowd late on Sunday to break up the demonstrators near the state television building. Videos posted on the Internet showed mangled bodies. Activists said corpses had been crushed by the vehicles.

Tension between Muslims and minority Coptic Christians has simmered for years but has worsened since the anti-Mubarak revolt, which has allowed the emergence of Salafist and other strict Islamist groups that the former president had repressed. ...
Christians, who make up 10 percent of Egypt's roughly 80 million people, took to the streets after blaming Muslim radicals for partially demolishing a church in Aswan province last week. They also demanded the sacking of the province's governor for failing to protect the building.

The Health Ministry said 24 people were killed and 272 people wounded, including 253 who were taken to hospital. State media later put the toll at 25 dead, the bulk of them Copts. ...
But since Mubarak's removal on February 11, incidents have spun into violence more swiftly. Christians say no one has been tried yet for the burning of a church in Helwan, south of Cairo, in March, after which 13 people were killed, or for violence in the Cairo suburb of Imbaba on May 7 that cost 15 lives.

'Exterminate Christians, close pyramids, Sphinx'

WND [WorldNetDaily] - By Bob Unruh - August 29, 2011
A rising leader in the radical Islamic movement in Egypt that has become a major political player since the demise of Hosni Mubarak's regime says Christian churches may need to be blown up and Christians exterminated to allow the advance of Islamic law, or Shariah.
The comments come from Sheik 'Adel Shehato, a senior leader with the Egyptian Islamic Jihad terrorist group. The sheik was jailed in 1991 because of his positions but was released earlier this year in the revolution that removed Mubarak from power.
His interview with the Egyptian daily Roz Al-Yousef was translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute.
The sheik, a senior jihadist leader, responded to a question about using violence against Christians, who make up a substantial minority in Egypt.

"Are you against blowing up churches?" the newspaper interviewer asked Shehato.
"Yes and no," he replied. "The Christian is free to worship his God in his church, but if the Christians make problems for the Muslims, I will exterminate them. I am guided by the Shariah, and it stipulates that they must pay the jizya tax while in a state of humiliation."
"These positions of yours frighten us, as Egyptians," the interviewer said.
"I will not act [in ways] that contradict my faith just in order to please the people. ... We say to the Christians, convert to Islam or pay the jizya, otherwise we will fight you. The Shariah is not based on logic but on divine law. That is why we oppose universal, manmade constitutions." ...

Among the many assertions made by the senior Islamic leader was that the Egyptian pyramids need to be closed down to tourists.
"There will be tourism for purposes of [medical] treatment, but the tourism sites of the pyramids, the Sphinx, and Sharm Al-Sheikh will be shut down, because my task is to get people to serve Allah rather than people. No proud Muslim will ever be willing to live off tourism profits, because the tourists come to drink alcohol and fornicate. [If they] want to come, they must comply with the conditions and laws of Islam. We will explain to them that, according to the Shariah, the pyramids are [from] a pagan and polytheistic age." ...

Islamists Call for Sharia Law in Egypt

ARUTZ SHEVA (Israeli National News) - By Elad Benari - July 30, 2011
Tahrir Square in Cairo was full again on Friday, as tens of thousands of people once again gathered for a mass demonstration following mosque prayers, CNN reported.
But unlike the protests in February which led to the ouster of former President Hosni Mubarak, this time the crowd consisted mainly of Islamists who called for the implementation of Islamic law in Egypt.
According to CNN, the demonstrators included conservative Salafists as well as members of the Muslim Brotherhood and Islamic Jihad, who arrived in hundreds of buses from across Egypt.
The crowd held up signs and shouted: "Egypt will return to Islamic Sharia law! Liberals and secularists are the enemies of Allah! The solution is Islam!" ...

Christian Accused of Blasphemy in Pakistan Dies in Jail
THE CHRISTIAN POST - By Luiza Oleszczuk - September 20, 2011
A Christian man accused of blasphemy died in a Pakistani prison on Sept. 9, the International Christian Concern announced Tuesday.
Aslam Masih died of a "treatable disease" after officials denied him proper medical care, ICC reported.
He had reportedly died of Dengue virus, an infectious tropical disease. ...

Masih was reportedly arrested in 2010 after having been accused of blasphemy by two members of the Tablighi Jammat, an Islamic missionary group.
The police actually released Masih at first for lack of evidence, only to arrest him again when faced with pressure from the local radical Muslim community, ICC said.
The incident added to a row of deaths and arrests related to the persecution of Christians in Pakistan. According to ICC, another Christian man, Qamar David, died in the Pakistani prison in March. Though the authorities cited a heart attack as an official cause, it is believed that he might have been murdered, according to ICC.
Two Christian brothers accused of blasphemy were also shot dead in July 2010 by Muslim extremists in Faisalabad.

One of the most famous cases of the persecution of Christians in Pakistan is the case of Asia Bibi, the first woman in that country to be sentenced to death for alleged blasphemy.
Bibi, still awaiting the solution of her case, had been accused of blasphemy by fellow field workers. A mother of five, she was sentenced to death by hanging for allegedly speaking ill of Prophet Muhammad. She denied the charges. ...

 Pakistan's Bible Ban
FRONTPAGE MAGAZINE - By Frank Crimi - June 14, 2011
Pakistan's Islamist party, Jamiat-Ulema-e-Islami (JUI), has petitioned to have the Bible banned from Pakistan because it violates the nation's notorious blasphemy laws. The move by the JUI is just the latest episode in the ongoing and increasingly deadly persecution of Christians in that Islamic nation.
According to JUI leader Maulana Abdul Rauf Farooqi, the Bible contains passages that show biblical figures whom Muslims regard as prophets (such as Abraham and Solomon) to be engaging in "a variety of moral crimes." As such, the JUI has called on Pakistan's supreme court to have the entire Book banned from the country if the offending passages are not removed.

While the JUI acknowledged its petition was partially in response to the Koran burning organized by Florida pastor Terry Jones in March 2011, it also dismissed the notion that banning the Christian Bible would cause additional trouble between Muslims and Christians.
Unfortunately, that is not what Pakistan's tiny Christian community believes. Pakistani Christians have found themselves under continuous assault from both government authorities and Islamist mobs. That may explain why Pakistan's Christian leaders urged restraint in wake of the Bible suit, fearful of further antagonizing Pakistan's more fervent Muslims. ...

Evidence for their fears was on full display recently when a Pakistani anti-terrorism court acquitted 70 Muslims accused of attacking and setting fire to over 50 houses and two churches in a Christian colony in July 2009. In that assault, eight people - including a seven-year old child - were burned alive and 20 others wounded.
Perhaps more disturbingly, many Pakistani Islamists believe killing a blasphemous person earns a heavenly reward. As a result, extra-judicial killings are common. Since 2009, at least 30 Christians accused under Pakistan's blasphemy laws have been killed by mobs of Islamist vigilantes. ...

Christian Communities near Town in Nigeria Disappearing
CDN / COMPASS DIRECT [Compass Direct News] - June 14, 2011
TAFAWA BALEWA, Nigeria - In a village outside this Bauchi state town in predominantly Muslim northern Nigeria, what was once a Christian community has vanished.
Last March the Christian peasant farmers of Mdandi village, eight kilometers (five miles) northwest of the Government Girls Secondary School in Tafawa Balewa town, were busy harvesting crops and preparing for a new farming season. On March 27 scores of armed, hard-line Islamists - avoiding the surrounding Muslim villages - descended on Mdandi, destroyed the Christians' homes and drove them out, former residents said.
The attack on Mdandi was preceded by an assault on Feb. 10, believed to have been the fall-out of violence rooted in Muslim and Christian youths fighting over a Muslim's Jan. 27 burning of a Christian's billiards table. Some Christians were injured in the Feb. 10 attack. ...
The marauders were believed to have been Islamists from other parts of Bauchi state collaborating with local Muslims and Fulani herdsmen. The Christians said they believe they were targeted, as the assailants bypassed surrounding Muslim communities.
Pastor Zafi lamented that three months after the attacks, the Christians have received no assistance from the state or federal governments. ...
One reason the government has been slow to check Islamist aggression is that neither officials nor Western news agencies question false claims that the ethnic Seyawa Christians steal the Fulani Muslim herdsmen's cattle, the supposed reason for the Fulani attacks, according to area Christians. ...
Pastor Zafi said the need for the government to halt the attacks of the Muslim militants in northern Nigeria was more important than restoring the Christians' property.
"Unless this is done, I am afraid, Christians in this part of the country may be on their way to extinction," he told Compass. ...

Nigeria: Christians targeted in fatal stealth attacks
Muslim terrorists implicated in multiple murders
WND [WorldNetDaily] - By Michael Carl - August 13, 2011
There's no pattern and little evidence, but periodically, and without warning, another Christian is shot or stabbed - almost always fatally - in the Nigerian town of Maiduguri.
Experts on the persecution of Christians in that part of the world say the Nigerian Muslim terrorist group Boko Haram has been implicated in the murders, which have happened intermittently in the Christians' own homes.
Open Doors USA President Carl Moeller says Boko Haram's motive for the killings is simple: The Muslim group wants to take over in the north.
"As we know, one of the goals of Boko Haram is to create a Shariah, Islamic law, society in Nigeria. Their intentional use of this sort of terroristic activity is designed to further their ends of that," Moeller explained. ...
"It's more specifically something like religiocide or religious cleansing. They recognize no other possibility of society based on anything other than Shariah law," Moeller said. ...

Charred Christian corpses cover roads after Muslims riot about elections in Nigeria
ASSOCIATED PRESS - April 19, 2011
KADUNA, Nigeria - Burned corpses with machete wounds lay in roads and smoke rose above this city where rioting broke out again Tuesday among Muslim opposition supporters who were angered by the announcement that the Christian incumbent president had won the election.
On the outskirts of Kaduna, burned out minibuses and cars littered the highways, and at least six charred bodies could be seen. Skull caps and sandals were strewn nearby, left behind by those who frantically fled amid the chaos.
Authorities and aid groups have hesitated to release tolls following the riots across northern Nigeria for fear of inciting reprisal attacks, but the National Emergency Management Agency confirmed there had been fatalities. The Nigerian Red Cross said Tuesday that nearly 400 people had been wounded. ...

Vietnam: 'Rapture' real aftermath:
Beheadings, shootings, mass graves
'Families don't know if missing loved ones are dead,
arrested or hiding in jungle'
Moriel

WND [WorldNetDaily] - By Bob Unruh - July 13, 2011

The executive director of a ministry that works with the persecuted church in the northern reaches of Vietnam says he's outraged that a "prophecy" by an American preacher apparently cost the lives of many tribal Hmong people who believed it.

The prediction by Harold Camping, 89, of Oakland, Calif.-based Family Radio, was that Jesus Christ would return to Earth to "rapture" his followers to heaven on May 21.  Camping said mankind had run out of time, and the Creator of the universe would arrive on that Saturday.

The horrific aftermath of the unfulfilled prophecy was reported by James Jacob Prasch, a key leader of Moriel Ministries, which emphasizes the "last days apostasy" discussed in the Bible and ministers to persecuted church members.

The organization describes itself as a "teaching ministry to believers" that brings awareness of issues such as the "social gospel" and ecumenical efforts that "masquerade" as Christianity.

Prasch routinely travels and meets with members of the Christian body worldwide. A recent trip took him to Vietnam, where a large number of the Hmong tribal peoples of the nation's Central Highlands are Christian.

They are referred to in the West as Montagnards.

They had heard of Camping's prophecy and not having sophisticated methods for evaluating its validity, took it literally, he explained.

The result, for many, was death, Prasch reported in an email to supporters:

After listening to a translation of Camping's prediction 7,000 of these people (known in the West as Montagnards) gathered on a mountain praising God their suffering at the hands of the communist regime was about to end because Jesus was returning that day in May to establish a new kingdom,.

The police and military police slaughtered many of them at gunpoint - beheading two pastors. Others were arrested. I am told by Hmong pastors that so many were shot dead that they were buried in mass graves bulldozed over in an episode that I read about in Britain but did not understand the magnitude of until I got here.

Prasch reported that he spoke to a secret meeting of Hmong pastors to explain to them "false prophets and false teachers."

"Due to a combination of poverty, ignorance and persecution these poor Christians don't understand much so they believed Camping's shortwave broadcast which is how most get their teaching," he said.

Now "their families don't know if their missing loved ones are among the many shot dead, among those arrested and imprisoned, or among those from the 7,000 hiding in the jungle," he said.

"These people already suffering for their faith in Jesus had it bad enough. They are not like the undiscerning whackos in the West who should have known Camping was a crackpot and a proven false prophet and false teacher," Prasch reported. "This is a persecuted church who just had no means to know any different. This is why ... I warn so much about false teachers and false prophets."

He continued, "Of course we can blame Satan and the communists but their blood is on the hands of Harold Camping and his Family Radio. Women without husbands, children without parents, husbands without wives."

A WND request of Family Radio for comment did not generate a response.

When Camping's expected rapture did not occur, International Business Times reported Lyn Benedetto of Antelope Valley, Calif., slit the wrist and throat of her two daughters and then slit her own, claiming to prevent them from going through the "Tribulation" on May 21.

A neighbor summoned an ambulance in time for them to be hospitalized.

Upon hearing the story, Camping said, "Murdering is terrible. It is contrary to everything the Bible teaches. That would have been a horrible thing if she has done that. That will make me weep. That will fill me with sorrow that she would do that. The Bible teaches that we are to save life, not kill. If it is going to be death, leave it to God. God knows who He wants to kill and make alive. That is His business, not our business."

Asked if he would take responsibility for such incidents, Camping said no.

"I don't have any responsibility. I can't be responsible for anybody's lives," he explained. "I am only teaching the Bible. I am not teaching what I believe, as if I am the authority. I am just simply teaching what the Bible says. And I don't have spiritual rule over anybody."

WND reported later when Camping suffered a stroke.

WND reported just months ago when authorities in Vietnam harassed hundreds of Christians by scheduling holiday events, then abruptly canceling them without notice.

Montagnard Foundation Director Kok Ksor said at the time the government's actions over the Christmas parties were consistent with how it deals with Christianity in general.

"The government lies like that all the time. They will say that the people have religious freedom and they say they allow people to worship God and that all beliefs are protected by law," Ksor stated.

"That's a lie and the people listen to them. I don't know why," Ksor said. "It's not the only time. Every year people get hurt because they want to worship God. Now the people can't do anything for fear of the police."

Even earlier, WND reported on a typical attack on the people of the Central Highlands where the Montagnards live.

Dieu Suoi, a Christian, was tortured by police and prison officials. He was arrested in 2005 "because he was a house church Christian who refused to join the official church," the foundation said. He was beaten with batons and shocked, then imprisoned. His health deteriorated in prison, and in 2007, police returned him to his family, who insisted he be hospitalized because he had been beaten so badly they hardly recognized him. Suoi, 30, died two days later.

Prasch said, "Please pray for these people and the work of Moriel Asia branch here among the Hmong. We are trying to get 5,000 outlawed Hmong Bibles printed."

The prediction that Jesus would return May 21 was not the first time Camping made a false prophecy. He similiarly forecast Christ's return in 1994.

"This guy is something else," Richard Myers, the administrator of abibleanswer.org, told WND. "We are calling for the Family Radio board to remove him."

In a posting on Myers' website , he says the board of directors of Family Radio is just as culpable as Camping in the spreading of erroneous information:

In the aftermath of his glaring error, Camping has adjusted his prediction for the end of the world to Oct. 21 of this year.

Colombian Soccer Player Reportedly Detained in Saudi Arabia Over Jesus Tattoo

FOX NEWS [News Corporation/Murdoch] - October 11, 2011
A soccer player from Colombia reportedly was detained in Saudi Arabia for walking through a mall wearing a sleeveless shirt that revealed his religious tattoos, including one of Jesus.
Juan Pablo Pino, 24, a member of Saudi Arabia's Al Nasr soccer club, was taken into custody in Riyadh on Friday by Saudi moral police after mall customers complained about the tattoos. Pino was visiting the mall with his pregnant wife, the Catholic News Agency reports.
Nayimi Sheik Mohammed, a Saudi cleric, told Colombia Reports that the country respects Shariah law and that tattoos must be covered at all times.
Pino later apologized for his actions and was released from custody after a team delegate discussed the matter with police. ...

Somali Christian confirmed dead, decapitated

MISSION NETWORK NEWS - September 22, 2011

Somalia - Juma Nuradin Kamil, a Christian convert from Islam, was kidnapped and found in early September decapitated on the outskirts of Hudur City in southwestern Somalia. A contact of Compass Direct News was recently able to confirm the murder. ...
The kidnapping and subsequent murder appear to be the work of al Shabaab militants, based on how it was carried out. Al Shabaab, a militant group with ties to al Qaeda, has an estimated membership ranging from 3,000 to 7,000. Muslim extremists from al Shabaab have vowed to rid Somalia of Christianity and seek to impose a strict version of sharia, or Islamic law.
Church leaders confirm that al Shabaab often decapitates Muslims they suspect to have embraced the Christian faith, or those who appear to sympathize with Western ideals.
Kamil had been a believer for three years. Many believe al Shabaab had been monitoring him for some time.
Based on the terror-linked nature of the attack, area Christians were initially afraid to bury Kamil's body. They did not want al Shabaab extremists seeing them associated with a newly-discovered convert to Christianity. The body thus lay in the open for two days, until an unknown group reportedly buried him in secret. ...
Pray for believers on the underground to continue to stand up boldly for their faith and to continue to proclaim the Truth of Christ, whatever the consequences. Pray for those who mourn the loss of Kamil, that his family and fellow believers might have peace and remain safe.

Muslims Hold Christians Under Stronghold of Fear in Zanzibar

CHARISMA [Strang Communications/Stephen Strang] - By Compass Direct News - September 7, 2011
On Tanzania's semi-autonomous island of Zanzibar, Christians live in a climate of fear. It's a place where a young man flees the island to escape death threats from his Muslim family, and a Christian who accidentally burned pages of the Quran opts for jail by entering a guilty plea rather than face certain death from a furious mob.
Yusuf Abdalla, 23, fled to Moshi, mainland Tanzania, after his family threatened to kill him in June. Having converted to Christianity in October after hearing the gospel on the radio, he was enrolled at a vocational school in Zanzibar city to learn tailoring when his family found out in March that he had left Islam.
The beating he then received from family members left him with injuries to his head, hand and torso, as well as a serious mouth wound and substantial loss of blood, said an area pastor who requested anonymity. ...
Another convert from Islam, Juma Suleiman of Chake-Chake on the neighboring island of Pemba, is also facing death threats. Suleiman became a Christian just two months ago when Tanzania Assemblies of God pastor Yohana Mfundo preached to him while he was in prison, Mfundo said.
Suleiman was released a little over two weeks ago, and family members have already threatened to kill him. He is now in hiding and plans to flee the island. ...

Eritrea: Mass arrests of Christians continue
REALEASE INTERNATIONAL - July 29, 2011
Eritrean officials have arrested 90 Christians since May - and more than a quarter of them are college students, according to Release partners.
According to fresh, more detailed reports from Release Eritrea, the authorities detained 64 believers in Adi Abeyto, a village near the capital, Asmara, in May. Only six have since been released - and the rest are thought to be detained at a police station in Asmara or in the notorious Mitire military prison. ...
Mitire is a remote military prison, located between the town of Nakfa and the coast, where 'torture and extremely harsh treatment are rife', according to Release Eritrea. Of the 12 Christian detainees known to have died in Eritrea since 2002, three were at Mitire. ...
Scores of Christians were reportedly arrested in the first few weeks of this year in Asmara and in Nakfa (Prayer Alert, January 20, 2011).
In 2002, the Eritrean Government announced it would recognise only four religious communities: the Orthodox Church of Eritrea, Sunni Islam, the Roman Catholic Church and the Lutheran-affiliated Evangelical Church of Eritrea. About 1,500 Christians are believed to be detained for their faith in Eritrea. ...

Students at Orphanage in India Forced to Pay
Idol Worship Fee
CDN / COMPASS DIRECT [Compass Direct News] - October 6, 2011
NEW DELHI - Hindu extremists in West Bengal, India who earlier this year refused to admit Christian orphans to a high school have forced them to contribute funds for idol worship in order to gain admission, sources said. ...
Hindu extremists led by Achinty Hatui, headmaster of the Dudhebudhe Gram Sava Tribal Institute, forced the Christian students to pay the fee for idols and warned him that they would ransack the properties of the Society, which also runs child development, children and mother survival, pregnant women and infant care, health care and primary school programs. ...

... After attending classes for 21 days, however, Hatui expelled them on March 25 in a fit of coarse language and insults, said Chetan Larence Orasad, manager of Ambassadors Service Society.
"Achinty Hatui and his team have been collecting money for idol worship through unfair means and pressured orphans from the Gilgal Home to submit the money or they would be expelled," Orasad told Compass.
The orphans also faced discrimination and harassment from the headmaster and staff for not contributing to the idol fund, he said. The orphans filed a police complaint against Hatui, which the local police initially refused to register. ...

After receiving a letter from the West Bengal Minorities Commission to appear on Sept. 7 for a hearing following a complaint filed by Dutta, Hatui and his staff tried to force the orphans to sign an agreement stating that the orphans had willingly paid the idol worship fee. The orphans refused to sign, and they have stopped going to the school because of the constant harassment they faced from the faculty, he said.
Hatui and his staff also insisted that the orphans change their legal guardian from Dutta to relatives in order to attain status as regular students, he said.

On Sept. 7, Hindu extremists led by Hatui gathered at the Society compound, stoned Gilgal Children's Home, blocked the road and demanded that all Christian activities stop. As a result, Dutta was unable to appear at a hearing of the West Bengal Minorities Commission.
"A big mob of Hindu extremists blocked the passage and the compound of the mission, and the police also asked me not to venture out from my home as it could be harmful for my life," he said ...
