The Isotonix Concept: |
How and Why Isotonix works:
Normally, when you ingest a daily vitamin or supplement, your body works for up to 4 hours digesting it. During the process, a significant percentage of the nutrient value is lost because of prolonged exposure to stomach acids and enzymes. Because Isotonix is a water-soluble powder, the body quickly absorbs the nutrients. When properly mixed with water, the nutrients are in an isotonic state (Compatible with your body fluids: tears and plasma) allowing a high concentration of the nutrients to be passed through the stomach within 5 to 15 minutes.

The control of gastric emptying is a function of solution osmolarity, pH, and peristaltic action. Solutions that are isotonic with reference to human physiology, have the same osmolarity as body fluids such as plasma, tears, lymph and gastric solutions. Solutions that are of a lower osmotic concentration than plasma are called hypotonic, while solutions of a higher osmotic concentration are called hypertonic.
The importance of this principle to our nutritional supplement products is that because the nutrients leave the stomach almost immediately, they arrive at the absorption sites in the small intestine with little or no dilution. Since absorption across a semi-permeable membrane varies according to the degree of concentration, a high concentration of nutrients in the lumen of the small intestine leads to more efficient absorption of those nutrients.

Are these products Hypo Allergenic?
Current scientiic literature cites no known instances of "vitamin allergies". Many vitamin tablets availabe contain additional products which may cause allergic reactions in some people. The exclusion of these substances in Isotonix was carefully planned. We have received very few reports of allergic reactions.
What is the best time to take it?
Basically any time the stomach is empty, in order to take advantage of the Isotonic state, and principles of absorption and gastric emptying. Most important is that the amounts of powder and water are proportional.
How is quality control assured in the formulation of Isotonix products?
The isotonx products are tested at independent contract testing labs as requested. They are desigend to provide 115% of the label claim for each nutrient during the manufacturing process. Current US standards require that products contain no less than 100% of the label claim.
Why is fructose in Isotonix products?
Fructose is the sweetest of all naturally occurring sugars and helps make it pleasant tasting with fewer calories. The consumption of fructose does not produce the extreme "highs" and "lows" in blood sugar levels like ordinary table sugar might.
What does "%DV"stand for?
It stands for Percentage of Daily Values and is established by the National Academy of Sciences. |
