Help for Horse Show Parents
This article was written for all types of shows, but you may find some of the advice helpful. Enjoy.

Dear Riding School Students,
Twice a year MacNair's hosts a show exclusively for students in our Riding School Program. Classes are tailored to every level student currently riding. If you are learning to post, you will be in a class with other riders who are also learning to post. If you can jump a course, so can the others in your class.
If the rider(s) in your family are wondering if they might enjoy showing, this is a good time to try it out. Talk to your instructor.
Hope to see you at the show, Nancy

Riding School Show FAQ'sIf, instead of riding horses, you played the piano, this show would be your recital. You've been learning new things, working hard and practicing. Now is your chance to show everyone what you've learned.
You don't need to buy anything special to wear; the helmet, boots and pants you wear to your lessons will do just fine (although it would be nice to clean your boots.) If your hair is long, tie it back or put it in a net - no hair should be visible in front of your helmet's harness. Dress for the weather. If it's warm and you can do without a jacket, please wear a shirt (tucked in) with a collar. Otherwise, a snug jacket and warm clothes will do.
Spectators may wish to bring chairs to be sure of a place to sit. If someone with limited mobility wants to watch the show, please let us know ahead of time so we can make getting to the ring easier.
There will be a concession stand.
Some of the classes will not be the traditional horse show fare. But if you want to show, there will be a class for you.

How it Works
Pony School & Elementary I riders may choose one or both classes from the list at left.
Elementary II, III and Intermediate riders may choose any or all of three classes. On your registration form there will be a space to check the classes you want to enter and to indicate your horse choices. (An early registration date on your entry form will increase the odds of getting the horse you want.)
You MUST pre-register to participate - entries made after Dec 1 will only be accepted if there are horses still available. Once registration is complete, you can check the barn website (www.macnairscountryacres.com) after Dec 3 for your start time(s.) Be aware that start times may vary by as much as 30 minutes either way, so please come to the barn at least 45 minutes before your estimated time. Go to the check-in table and then go get your horse, who will be ready take to the ring.
