MacNair's Country Acres has instructors and programs specifically designed to teach horseback riding to children and adults who may have never touched a horse before. We also have instructors and programs to coach riders and train horses to compete at the highest levels of our sport. Regardless of where riders are along this spectrum, we stress the same things: safety, progression, competence and, of course, fun.
MacNair's Riding School uses an established curriculum; the student's riding and horsemanship skills are assessed and they (and their parents) are made aware of their current riding level and the skills they must acquire to move on. Riders advance at their own pace through defined levels, with progress monitored twice yearly through written evaluations.
We pride ourselves on teaching not just riding, but also horsemanship, encompassing such skills as grooming and tacking up a horse, deciphering the body language and behaviors unique to the equine species, general horse knowledge and increasing the student's confidence in handling a large animal, both while mounted and from the ground.
Our riding programs are designed around our rider's goals. Whether a rider wants to simply be outdoors and around horses, further their equestrian skills, or show competitively, we can match them to a program that will be a comfortable fit.
