For first time riders, we provide the riding helmets and boots required for riding. When attending a Saddle Up session, please arrive 15 minutes before the session is scheduled to begin if you need to use our helmets and boots.

What is Saddle Up?

SU grooming oly croppedSaddle Up is a one time riding experience that introduces children and adults to horsemanship and riding. This two-hour session is offered on the third Saturday of each month. Participants are invited to engage with horses and learn the basic of grooming, tacking up, riding, and horse behavior.

Saddle Up is designed to give prospective riders an idea of the full riding experience at MacNair's, without committing to weekly lessons and the purchase of a riding helmet and boots.

We also offer year-round private and group lessons for riders of all ages and levels of experience. Within the Riding School, Pony School is exclusively for children 6 to 9 years old and Community Lessons are for riders 10 and older. Our new Earn Your Stirrups is a discounted package of 8 lessons for students new to MacNair's.

MacNair's Country Acres is one the Triangle's oldest privately owned riding academies. We stress safety, education and fun and are dedicated to developing a strong foundation in riding skills and horsemanship.

To get to the barn:
Once in our driveway, turn right when the road splits and follow signs to MacNair's Stables. Park in front of the fence. The office is the brown A-frame building and the barn is just beyond it.
