Hello there!

It's been an event filled couple of weeks... I had a great time at my first attempt teaching the Gouache Ink Resist class... The guinea pigs... I mean students were fantastic!

I'll be teaching "Acrylic Adventure" at Crystal Lake Art Center on Tuesday, Nov. 15th... we can stay inside and paint while the hunters are out in full force. This class is the sequel to the ever popular "Acrylic 101"...As always, we'll be having fun. You should think about joining us! Heck, don't just think about it... do it! :)

I've finally got the Gouache Cherry Bowl Ink Resist prints ready to sell.... note-cards will be added next week, just in time for your holiday shopping! Remember, if you buy a $25 print you're donating to HARP!

You can either buy them from ETSY or contact me directly.

Here is one of the Gouache (gwash) ink resist paintings that I demonstrated during my class on Monday. It's such a fun process... and addicting!

Idea Spark-lers

Inspiration to use in your own creative work....

sending actual, hold in your hands type of cards.

I love getting Christmas cards in the mail. My husband and I have an agreement... If you are the opener of the card, after you read it, you need to place it back inside the envelope, so the other person can experience the joy of pulling it out of the envelope too. I like seeing the cancelled stamp, and the return address and the color of the envelope...the whole experience.

Having said that... I'm an inconsistent card sender. Shame on me, when I love getting them so much.

I used this image on the front of our cards a few years ago... (it's another Gouache Ink Resist painting... I told you the process is addicting!)

I'm announcing that this year I'm going to send at least a few, handmade cards, how about you?  Why don't you join me?  If we start now, we might have a chance of following through!

Here are some links to past "sparklers" to give you some ideas...

2011...What I'm Celebrating...
Early in January, I chose a word to use as my theme for the year... It's "Celebrate"...

Here's a link to the explanation, in case you missed it.

This week, I'm Celebrating:

  • those tiny little floating bubbles that sometimes appear after you squirt liquid dish soap
  • enthusiastic response to my first Gouache Ink Resist class...a fantastic open minded group
  • neighbor blowing off the entire driveway more than once
  • Bob the plumber's grace when things do not go smoothly...he's a gem
  • my sister, who is always doing favors for us
  • laughing and dancing in the old 'hood at the Hen's Halloween party
  • having Dominos pizza with my buddy (haven't had Dominos since we moved)
  • the way Majors bottom teeth show when he looks up at me
  • toasted onion bagel with butter
  • visiting with friends that I haven't seen in a while
  • technology
  • the HARP prints are made and ready for sale
  • amazon wish lists
  • signing up for a Mary Todd Beam workshop with 3 other terrific artist friends
  • youngest son's airline tickets purchased for his Christmas visit. He's been out in LA since he was 20...we love his visits!
  • making cranberry liquor
  • selling paintings! (This is one of them that has a new and happy home)
  • oldest son officially joining the Illinois Bar Association. Congratulations, Andy!!!
  • hearing about other artists selling paintings... a really good sign!
