Dear Friends,

Autumn colours are arriving in North America, but our friend and MLC National Responsible, Julie Aherne, reminds us that it is spring in Australia! Thank you Julie for this wonderful photo of bursting spring blossoms.
As we are blessed in enjoying nature's glories, we are also saddened by nature's devastation in Haiti and the USA with the recent, horrific hurricanes. May we be generous in our prayers and support, that lives may be healed and restored to wholeness.
Peace,

Isabella R. Moyer, MLC

News from Davao City, Philippines by Johnleen Lardera

Luis
Caal Gamboa, a lay Marianist of Spain, visited us here in Davao,Philippines
last August 8, 2008. We were glad to meet him and he gave us an insight about
their community in Spain. And we also introduced to him the activities of our
community.
Little by little we are establishing our Marianist Lay
Community here. We have organized plans and activities for this year. We
started last January 2008 to have monthly formation, every 2nd and
4th Friday of the month. We have also a quarterly formation, for our
recollections and retreats. In every activity we've done we invited some of our
friends, including the Society of Mary aspirants. We are journeying spiritually
and growing together as Marianist family .

Hurricanes in Haiti

Here in Haiti, things are not doing so well since the
hurricanes seem to be trying to destroy us. In Port au Prince it rained so much
that some parts of the city are flooded, many families are striken, without any
help and are left to themselves, bringing still more misery to our small
country. Outside the capital, the damages are terrible, especially in the
Gonaives region where it is still worse than three years ago when hurricane
Jeanne hit. In the North and North-East the damages are so great that we can't
describe them. In St-Marc, where there is a very active MLC, some people are
also hit by the storms.
Please pray for the Haitian people and our Marianists
brothers and sisters.

Support Kenya 2009

The next
International Meeting of Marianist Lay Communities will be held in Nairobi,
Kenya in 2009. Approximately 50
delegates from 29 countries will be invited to attend.
Because of rising
fuel costs, travel to the meeting will be expensive. Also, over half of our delegates reside in
developing nations .
We are setting up a
Scholarship Fund for Delegates to
help with travel and meeting costs. Please consider donating to this fund.
Make checks
to: Marianist
Lay Network and in the annotation line write "International Meeting
Fund" and mail to: Marianist Center 1341 N. Delaware Avenue, # 406 Philadelphia,
PA 19125 USA

Are
you a frequent traveller and would like to donate airmiles for
delegate travel? Please contact NACMS intern, Ben Dougherty at bdougherty63141@yahoo.com.
Thank
you for your generosity, we will keep you up to date concerning the progress of
the fund.
