Greetings! |
As we head into the Memorial Day weekend (can you believe it's here already!?), let's remember to take a moment to recognize and honor all those who have come before us, both in and out of the military, who have sacrificed their lives to give us the privilege of being able to enjoy our barbecues and pursue our best lives. We also send our thoughts and prayers out to the thousands of people of who were lost and have been affected by the devastating natural disasters that have struck Myanmar and China.
This weekend also marks the unofficial start to summer, a time where we can transition into the simpler pleasures of life and allow ourselves to relax a bit and spend more time in nature. With all the stresses of our daily lives, it is so important to take time out of each day so we can breathe, get to know who we are and what we want, and then make decisions that are right for us, knowing that whatever is best for our well-being will ultimately benefit all those around us. This was one of the themes that I presented in my "Spring Cleaning for the Soul" talks in April, which is how many of you have found your way to this list -- we welcome you and hope that you find a place here that can help you connect more to yourself and the world around you!
The summer is a great time to take a mid-year look at what you've accomplished so far and what you would like to see happen in the next six months - so we encourage you to take advantage of the nice weather and grab your journal for some quality time by yourself in the park or at the beach relaxing and reflecting on it all!
offered some time for refection back in April, when we offered our semi-annual Visioning Workshop. It was a powerful opportunity
to dig into our subconscious to see what our deepest desires are, what we want our futures to look like and then create a tool to make it happen! You can read more about the workshop below along with comments from several of our participants.
We also offered a way to give back to the community with our fifth annual TWM Team for the Revlon Run/Walk for women's cancers, and once again raised over $2500 for this worthy cause. Our team of twenty members proudly wore their Chicks Rock t-shirts as they made their way from Times Square to our booth in Central Park at the Health Fair where many of you who are new to this list also found us! Welcome to all of you who are signed up for our mailing list and are now a part of our diverse, dynamic community - we look forward to seeing you at future events!
And for all our readers who have been on the list for a while you will notice some additional features on this TWM eNewsletter - first you can now access all of our past eNewsletters beginning January 2005 by clicking on any of the links to the left. So if you missed one or want to remember a past event you can re-visit it there, and for those of you who are new you can can get the scoop on what we've been up to these past few years. You'll also notice that we are starting to accept paid advertisements, so if you own or know of a business that would like to reach our audience please be sure to contact us for more information.
As for what's next, you'll see that we are looking for a blogger for our new TWM Blog launching this fall. If you or anyone you know would be interested in blogging for us about their everyday experiences as a diverse, dynamic, modern woman let us know! We'll have a big announcement and event to go along with it in September, so stay tuned for more information and emails about that as well as any additional activities or events we may do before then.
And, last, but certainly not least, if you have been on our list for some time and enjoy reading these eNewsletters, or if you're just learning about TWM and support who we are and what we do and want to see it continue and grow - please show it with your financial support . Because we are a small, grass-roots nonprofit organization, every penny counts and goes farther than you might expect, so please consider becoming a member or donating at the highest level possible! Thank you very much as always to our past, present and future supporters!
Have a great summer and we'll be in touch again soon!
In Peace & Unity,

Kristina M. Leonardi

APRIL EVENT: TWM'S SPRING VISIONING WORKSHOP |
VISIONING WORKSHOP:
Using Your Creativity and Intuition to Gain Clarity, Find Focus and Manifest Your Dreams!
On Saturday, April 5th, over a dozen ladies came to our popular and powerful semi-annual workshop for a creative, transformative afternoon where collages where made to manifest their heart's desire! An energetic group was ready to make new changes in their lives and the workshop helped chart that direction. Our participants all had meaningful experiences, whether it was their first time or fifth! Read some of their feedback below and stay tuned for the next workshop coming this Fall!
What a great opportunity to take a day to reconnect with myself and explore the thoughts/ideas/dreams that I don't let myself deal with in my busy everyday life. Thanks!
I hoped to create something special and get in touch with myself, which is exactly what happened. I honored who I am by spending a day tapping into my creative side. I'm leaving with more appreciation for myself - and excited to tackle my dreams on the collage.
The experience was amazing! I gained valuable insight into what's important right now.
Thank you so much for an inspiring Saturday at the Visioning Workshop. You know, I forgot how fun and POWERFUL that workshop really is. I have been looking at my collage all the time, and loving it more and more each time I see it. I am so proud of myself that I could create something so strong and beautiful. In my eyes, it's absolutely perfect. My job doesn't allow for too much creativity, and I forget how much I enjoy being creative, and being able to pick up a pair of scissors and glue stick brings me back to the joys of childhood. My collage is pointing that my life will be going in a different direction soon (I am attending the IIN next semester) and the collage confirmed that it's the right thing to do. Thank you again, for being such an inspiring diva....and I look forward to the next class with you!

TWM MEMBER SPOTLIGHT |
TWM Member Spotlight: Mary Brower
TWM's Revlon Run/Walk Team Captain Raises Thousands!
Mary Brower admits that she was first attracted to TWM for gastronomical reasons. "I was invited to a [TWM] fundraiser, and when I found out that the theme of the event would be Indian (my favorite food), I jumped at the chance to attend." But it was more than just the food that kept her interested in TWM. "The best part about TWM is the people that I have met over the years," she said. "The group is made up of such diverse and dynamic women all with stories and strengths to share." Her interests expanded to include TWM's involvement in EIF Revlon Run/Walk for Women, an annual 5K race that raises money for women's cancer research. In addition to making friends and raising money for a good cause, Mary also had far more personal reasons for joining TWM's team. "My grandmother passed away from breast cancer when I was about 3 or 4, and I wanted the chance to help make a difference." After several years of being just a team member, she decided to become TWM's team captain when her friend Tina Marie Greene decided not to continue in the position. "I took over being captain in 2005 and am very happy to be able to do my part," Mary said. Mary officially became a TWM member this year. "I knew how important is was to support this type of work as well and finally took it off my to do list!" she admits. Since becoming team captain, she has helped TWM's Revlon Run/Walk team raise thousands of dollars for cancer research. For Mary's part, she has nothing but good things to say about her experiences. "I do feel that I have grown since becoming a part of TWM. I have become more self-confident and empowered."
Mary works in publishing. In addition to the Revlon Run/Walk, she is also looking forward to her third year as a participant in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. If you are interested in volunteering for TWM please be sure to contact us at info@thewomensmosaic.org! |
