As a network of practitioners The Consciousness Collaborative offers tremendous opportunities for clients interested in deepening their personal growth experience.  Occasionally, though, a member stretches beyond his or her usual generosity.  Lysa Wilkins does this every year when she devotes her personal time to organizing and executing The Ride for The Cure.  This month, we invite you to join us in applauding Nathalie Blitz of Vitamin N

When tragedy shook Haiti to it's core, Nathalie reached out to her clients with an offer to benefit both the earthquake victims and the recipients of her services.  For every client that booked and paid for an appointment in the month of February, Nathalie donated $5.00 to Doctors Without Borders supporting their vital efforts to the survivors in Haiti.

"I know people associated with Doctors Without Borders.  They are amazing individuals with a passion for the work they do.  More of a calling  than a job for them, and that passion resonates with me personally and as a professional."

Way to go, Nathalie!  We're honored to have you as part of our network.

-1 bay leaf
-1 tsp rosemary

-½ tsp sea salt

If you missed "The Woo in You,"
read it here.

In The Big Leap, Gay Hendricks encourages us to bring laser focus to our most productive and important time of the day.  If you've been following along, you know mine is in the shower.  For me, it's where the universal consciousness speaks to me most freely and says, "Hey, Joanne, this one is for you - go for it!"  Simply stated, my time in the shower is inspirational, and for me, that means productive.

The phenomenal power of inspiration dazzled me after seeing "Invictus," the film based on true events of Nelson Mandela and the Springbok rugby team.  Mandela, leading by example, roused a divergent and struggling country to unite for a moment in time.  He followed the truth within himself, using his most precious and unique personal gifts to share and celebrate the humanity that joined the people of his country.

Whether from music, nature, a unique experience, a close friend, the story of a stranger, a work of art, or a moment of self awareness, we are inspired daily.  Some ideas feel ordinary, and we may take them for granted.  Much the way we take for granted the gifts that are uniquely ours; however, if you heed the call of that which inspires you, the abundant passion with which you embrace your creativity, enlivens you, and may stir others to greatness!  The connection to your most authentic and expansive self, inherently extends an irresistible invitation to those around you, creating space for greater universal presence and clarity.  Marianne Williamson says it beautifully (read the quote).

With that, I invite you to take a moment to consider: what inspires you?  Notice when you have experienced a single moment of feeling your own nugget of knowing slip into your consciousness like a best friend, reaching for your hand in a moment of triumph.  In January, Anya Sophia Mann wrote about one of her moments, and reading her prose, I feel the zing right along with her!

My hypothesis: We are inspired by energies that resonate most deeply with our unique personal gifts.  When we recognize something that touches upon the essence within us, we come alive!  If we possess an awareness of our individual gifts, and we attend the call of inspiration when it rings our bells, anything is possible!

If anything is possible, who is the YOU that you choose to be?

Brimming with possibilities,

Announcements and Invitations

1)  Several months ago, we promised to produce and share a definition of "consciousness."  What were we thinking?

The intention: cure the "curse of knowledge" and the symptomatic "in-house" vocabulary that ensued.  We believed it worthy of our energies to simplify our meaning, because we appreciate you being part of our community, and want our services and information to feel supremely accessible.

The language task force included founder, Joanne Lutz, and three published members of our network: Carol Burnes, Beth Sutton, and Walter Bacigalupo.  To this end, we offer a bite-sized meaning for our unifying purpose: consciousness.  The results of our combined efforts may be viewed on The Consciousness Collaborative home page.  Let us know what you think.

2)  The Consciousness Collaborative has joined Facebook!  It's now easier than ever to keep track of the many fabulous workshops and events offered by our members.  You're invited to become a fan today!

3)  Have you found The Consciousness Collaborative website to be a valuable resource?  If so, we encourage you to share with your friends, family, associates, and clients by linking to www.TheConsciousnessCollaborative.com from your personal or business website.

4)  On February 21st The Consciousness Collaborative gathered together to share ideas and implement plans to better serve you.  Some notions (like the Facebook Fan page and the updated home page) are already up and running.

In the coming months watch for new and powerful workshops, opportunities to meet and greet the members, and a new resource page called "Friends of The Collaborative."  This will include a list of talented entrepreneurs, engaged in personal growth work, but not in an industry found under The Consciousness Collaborative umbrella.

Accessing Your Male Energy - a workshop for men

man struggling
As men, too many of us were brought up with some version of the belief that life is tough, and a man's job is to struggle and persevere against it to survive.  Many of us struggle to be successful at work, be good fathers, lovers, and financial providers.  And yet no matter how hard we push, it often seems the universe pushes back just as hard.  After pulling the wagon all day, instead of feeling inspired and energized, many men feel tired, empty, and lonely.

How is it then, that some men appear to have unlimited energy - and the whole world seems to open up to them?  It's not that they do not face challenges, but they are just that, challenges, rather than insurmountable problems with which to toil and struggle.  My experience is that these men have learned how to access and allow an unlimited well of male energy that is inherent in each of us.  These men have learned how to tap into the power of the universe instead of fight against it.

man accessing powerReady to thrive?  Walter Bacigalupo and I have co-created "Accessing Your Male Energy - a workshop for men,"  offering an opportunity to explore your beliefs about struggling vs. allowing.  You will, with the support of the men around you, learn how to tap into male energy in a way that is free and NOT about pulling the wagon one more mile.

If you would like to experience what it feels like to truly allow your power and bring that back into the world with you - allow yourself to sign up for this workshop.  It may be an important step to accessing your male energy.

Effective Communication for Comprehensive Care Dentistry

Adrian WilkinsMost of the doctors I meet want to help people.  They want a profession that affords them a better than average income, is challenging, and provides a valuable service to the world.  Almost all of them have invested thousands of hours and thousands of dollars above and beyond dental school to become better clinicians in an effort to provide the best comprehensive care dentistry possible to their patients.

These same dentists, however, often tell me of the challenges they face finding qualified candidates for comprehensive care treatment.  Further, when they do find them, it is often difficult to convey the value of this kind of dentistry to their patients.  Frustration sets in when they have worked hard at becoming the best dentist possible and then find themselves not having the opportunity to practice what they have learned. This frustration typically results in either: pushing patients - who often do not accept treatment, or resigning themselves to a career of single tooth dentistry.

More new patients, is not the answer!
As a practice consultant, I see practices attempt to market themselves to success and not create the result they are striving to achieve.  The most successful and effective dentists I know are the ones who have learned how to communicate effectively.  The foundation of their practice rests on existing patients and internal referrals.

There is a solution and it is not high pressure sales!
This workshop provides a sound philosophical and practical foundation for the dentist who wants to practice better comprehensive care dentistry without driving patients away. Utilizing the tools, systems, concepts, and techniques taught in this workshop you will foster positive relationships with patients who accept treatment, and just as importantly, with patients who do not accept treatment.

In a safe interactive coaching environment, we will explore these tried and proven methods to allow the patients who will benefit from comprehensive care to accept treatment; and at the same time maintain a healthy patient base while satisfying the needs of all of your patients.  Learn how to communicate with patients and manage your practice in a way that allows you to perform the type of dentistry you have trained for.

Love Your Food

Nathalie Blitz often speaks of "mindful eating."  The act of bringing attention to your food, savoring each bite, noticing the tastes, textures, and how you feel during and after eating.  This month's meditation, borrowed from OSHO's Meditation for Busy People, aligns with Nathalie's mindful eating prescription.

"When you can look through the heart, the whole universe looks like one unity...So be more loving.  Remember, whatever you are doing, the quality of love must be there.  If you are eating, eat lovingly.

Indians say that food is divine. The meaning is that when you are eating, the food is giving you life, energy, vitality.  Be grateful, be loving towards it.

Ordinarily we eat food very violently, as if we are killing something, not as if we are absorbing - as if we are killing.  Or very indifferently you go on throwing things into your belly, without any feeling.  Touch your food lovingly, with gratitude: it is your life.  Take it in, taste it, enjoy it.  Do not be indifferent and do not be violent...change the quality of your relationship: let it be based on love.  Then your heart centre will start functioning, and you will come down deep into the heart."
