Questions and Answers about our New Telephone Policy

Sometimes, a health concern can be successfully diagnosed and managed over the phone.  In these circumstances, we are offering parents the option of a Telephone Visit as an alternative to a face-to-face office visit.  Our goal is to continue our commitment to high quality care delivered in a caring and attentive environment, and to help reduce some of the costs associated with obtaining health care, including the time and cost of traveling to and from the office, and higher out of pocket costs of an office visit.

Sometimes, the circumstances of your child's illness will require an office visit.  This policy is intended to provide a less costly alternative when the circumstances make a telephone visit appropriate.

Telephone calls will not generate a charge if
  • you are calling about a problem that has been treated in the office in the preceding 7 days or results in an office visit in the subsequent 24 hours,
  • you speak with the nurse,
  • the nature of the call does not involve diagnosis and management of a problem, such as proper dosing or a prescription refill request.

Charges for telephone visits are determined by time with charges ranging from $15 for 5-10 minutes to $35 for 21-30 minutes.

Grant Announcement for Area Preschools

Moore Pediatrics and Associates invites area preschools to apply for grants (up to $200 per grant) to help implement activities that will increase children's exposure to fresh fruits and vegetables. Possible grants include funding to cover the cost of starting a vegetable garden, incorporating fresh fruits and vegetables into daily snack, sending a teacher to a workshop, etc.  Grants will be awarded at the end of August.  If you are interested in applying for a grant, please call the office for more details.

This program is part of our ongoing commitment to helping families develop the tools for lifelong health, including nutrition and fitness.

Patient-Provider Agreement

Beginning July 1, you will be seeing a new document, which is called a patient-provider agreement.  When you come in, one of the nurses will walk you through the agreement.  The agreement spells out our responsibilities and commitment to service to you and your family, and it spells out our expectations of you and your family. We hope that this opportunity to talk about mutual expectations will help us continue to improve how we provide care to your child(ren).
