And if 5K seems too long, we are making an exception for a special qualifying event that we are pleased to sponsor: on August 23, you and your whole family can compete to win Common Grill Rolls in the Second Annual Run for the Rolls 1 Mile Run/Walk. This event takes place in downtown Chelsea immediately preceding the Chelsea Fair Parade. Registration forms are available at the office.

Car Sear Safety Guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics
All infants should always ride REAR-FACING until they are 1 year of age and weigh at least 20 pounds.
Children 1 year of age and at least 20 pounds can ride FORWARD-FACING. It is best to ride rear-facing as long as possible.
Booster seats are for older children who have outgrown their forward-facing car safety seats. Children should stay in a BOOSTER SEAT* until the adult seat belts fit correctly (usually when a child reaches about 4' 9" in height and is between 8 and 12 years of age).
Children who have outgrown their booster seats should ride in a lap and shoulder belt; they should ride in the BACK SEAT until 13 years of age.

How We Like to Spend Time With Our Families in the Summer
Stefanie's summertime votes are the Peony Garden at the Matthaei Boatanical Gardens and Nicholas Arboretum, the Butterfly Garden at the County Farm Park, and picnic and water spray zone at Independence Lake Park.
Andy recommends the Potawatomi Trail in Pinckney for hiking and biking-- she says to bring bug spray! Andy also canoes on the Huron River and attends free concerts at the Ann Arbor Summer Festival/Top of the Park with her family.
Every summer, Terry heads up north with her family for a week at a cabin on Lake Michigan. She says it is her favorite part of the summer because it is a chance to reconnect, relax, and just be a family without the world getting in the way. She and her family also take walks, have picnics, and take day trips down the river in a canoe.
Laura will take her children golfing, raspberry picking, and head out to Rolling Hills Water Park.
Deanna's favorite family outings are swimming, boating on the Chain of Lakes north of Chelsea, and getting ice cream at Twisters.
You can find Julie kayaking with her family at Hudson Mills, playing badminton, having barbecues in the backyard, or listening to music at Sounds and Sights on Thursday nights in downtown Chelsea. She also recommends berry picking at local u-pick farms.
Leann's family votes for anything water-related: area lakes, including Silver Lake, water parks, including Michigan Adventure, and the swimming pool in their backyard.
Carrie heads back home to the UP every 4th of July and camps with her family. While there Carrie takes her family to all the places she went as a child, including Lake of the Clouds and the Porcupine Mountains State Park.
