Characteristics of Success
Greetings!

In western Canada it has been 11 months in the making, in the east it has been HOT for a few weeks ... wherever you live I am sure you will agree that summer is here! So please enjoy it while it lasts!

Municipalities, much like farmers, eagerly hope for the all the right things to happen in order to reap the benefits of a successful recruitment (as with the harvest). Such occurrences need to be savoured because they don't happen as frequently as we'd like! Further yet ... many municipalities, like farmers once again, often believe that their neighbours have a better staff/crop than they do!

A- OneOne key characteristic that is consistent between municipalities and farmers is that they both have to be eternally optimistic in order to keep planning for the future; otherwise failure is a certainty.

A - twoA second key characteristic that is shared is the recognition that it is necessary to, from time to time, ask for assistance from specialists so that the limited resources they have available can be utilized in a way that will maximize results.

A - ThreeThe third and most important characteristic common to each party is the ever increasing difficulty to identify, secure and retain individuals who are well experienced, highly skilled, have great attitudes and most importantly... have the willingness to stay in the same location long enough to produce measureable results!

Ravenhill GuaranteeWe at the Ravenhill Group may not be able to guarantee that those individuals we recruit will stay with your municipality for their lifetime ... we can guarantee you that we will utilize our far-reaching network of over 3600 municipal contacts with more than 500 of them at the Senior Management and CAO levels. We also offer extensive assessment skills and abilities and wide-ranging knowledge of the municipal field so that we can recruit the "right" person(s) for your organization and to provide you with a 365 Day Quality Guarantee.

Over the last number of months,  Ravenhill Group has been working with municipalities across Canada to identify and secure Chief Administrative Officers, Directors of Finance, Superintendents of Public Works, and a number of other senior management positions. In doing so, we have been in contact with a great many individuals who are prepared to relocate if the "right" opportunity to make a difference becomes available in a new community.  It is important to note that a great number of these individuals are currently employed and not actively seeking change; however they have agreed to allow us at the Ravenhill Group to contact them should an opportunity to work in a progressive minded community arise.

If you are a progressive municipality in need of highly talented professionals to lead your organization into the future... contact Bruce or Jeannette at Ravenhill Group because we know the people who will make a positive difference in your community.

Can Cold Water Clean Dishes?

This is for all the germ conscious folks that worry about using

cold water to wash dishes.

John went to visit his 70 year old grandfather in a very

secluded, rural area of Georgia. After spending all night

chatting together, John's grandfather prepared an early

breakfast of bacon, eggs and toast. John noticed a film-like

substance on his plate, and questioned his grandfather,

asking, "Are these plates clean?" His grandfather replied,

"They're as clean as cold water can get them, just you go

ahead and finish your meal, Sonny!"

For lunch the old man made hamburgers. Again, John

was concerned about the plates, as his appeared to have tiny

specks around the edge that looked like dried egg. He asked

again, "Grampa, are you sure these plates are clean?" With a

frown the old man said, "I told you before, Sonny, those

dishes are as clean as cold water can get them. Now don't

you fret, I don't want to hear another word about it!"

Later that afternoon, John was going over to a nearby

town, and as he was heading out the door his grandfather's

dog started to growl, and wouldn't let him pass. John yelled,"Grampa, your dog won't let me get to my car".

Without diverting his attention from the football game he

was watching on TV, the old man shouted -

"COLDWATER, GO LAY DOWN!!!!"
