RETENTION
TIPS
MORE ways
to keep your staff happy &  working for you...
Greetings!

Here's  the second 5 of 10 retention tips as promised!

Together with the 5 from the May Recruiting Report, they are guaranteed to help you keep your staff happy and working for you.
  1. Make Their Work Fun: everyone wants to enjoy their work. Make it fun. Put the special talents of each individual to work.
  2. Offer Them Balance: Offer your staff "work-life" balance. Where possible give them (within reason) flexible start times and end times. (yes, her son's hockey game is important!)
  3. Get Them Involved: Whenever possible get your staff involved in making decisions that affect their jobs and the overall direction of the municipality.
  4. Encourage Friendships: According to at least one national pollster, you should encourage employees to have good...even best friends at work.
  5. Look Before You Leap: Make sure that your candidate can really do the job before you hire them. Always make sure that they are not just the one who had the best interview!
  6. BONUS TIP: You'd be shocked, I    suppose, if we didn't include this last tip. Use a recruiter and make certain that your recruiter uses behaviorally-based questions and testing, not to mention effective reference checking.
