OSHA's Adoption of GHS is Final - Are You Ready?

On Monday, March 26, 2012, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) promulgated a final rule officially adopting the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) as part of the Hazard Communication Standard [29 CFR 1910.1200]. Employers that make, transport, handle or otherwise use chemicals should start now to prepare for the transition to GHS.
This free webinar will help you understand the new requirements including:
- Changes in hazard classification requirements;
- New Safety Data Sheet requirements which will replace the existing MSDS format;
- New labeling requirements, including pictographs and new language specifications; and
- Deadlines for training existing employees on the new GHS classification and labeling system.

 Curt Johnson will be attending the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ)'s Environmental Trade Fair and Conference (ETFC) in Austin, TX on May 1 - 2, 2012. Held annually at the Austin Convention Center, this conference is billed as the state's premier environmental educational forum. This year the ETFC will have 15 concurrent environmentally themed tracks, 100 educational sessions and 400 exhibitors.

Carol Robinson will be attending ASSE's Safety 2012 Exposition. Safety 2012will be held June 3-6, 2012 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, CO. The conference and exposition includes an Executive Summit, Key Issues Roundtables, several Topic Track educational sessions covering a broad range of practice areas, industries and interest areas, and a series of pre and post-conference seminars during the week. During this year's conference, Carol and Debby Shewitz of Shewitz Consulting will participate in the Regulatory Issues Topic Track on Wednesday, June 6. Their presentation, titled Lockout/Tagout and Machine Guarding - The "Minor Servicing" Exemption, examines LOTO, Electrical Safety and Machine Guarding interconnection and will discuss the OSHA standard as well as use of the agency's Compliance Directive and case studies.

AIHce2011 will be held June 16-21 at the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis, IN. The conference, co-sponsored by the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA®) and the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH®), is includes more than 700 courses, sessions, posters, lectures, workshops and luncheon discussions designed to address professional development, scientific issues, management trends, and industry innovations.
