US DOE and World Bank Encourage Development of Environmental Apps  
 
 

The U.S. Department of Energy (US DOE) is challenging developers and designers to come up with the best use of Green Button downloadable energy usage data. Prizes will be awarded for the applications that best help utility customers gain information, take action, and save on their utility bills. Details about the contest can be found at http://appsforenergy.challenge.gov.

 

The World Bank's Apps For Climate competition challenged participants to develop software applications related to climate change. The applications submitted must use one or more datasets from the World Bank Data Catalog or the Climate Change Knowledge Portal. Winning submissions will be decided based upon public vote and voting ends April 27, 2012. Winners will receive prizes and featured placement on the World Bank Open Data website. More information and a link to the climate change applications can be found at https://wbchallenge.imaginatik.com/wbchallengecomp.nsf.
