Repent America Teaches the Gospel to New England Students
Repent America (RA) recently conducted a campus tour throughout several New England states to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to students. During the week of August 29th, the ministry visited the University of Vermont, the University of New Hampshire, the University of Southern Maine and the University of Maine.
Although the president of the University of Vermont cancelled classes the day after Tropical Storm Irene made landfall, many students still came to the campus and listened to the preaching. The following day as RA witnessed at the University of New Hampshire, police ejected the ministry by claiming that it must have prior approval; however, the preaching continued for several hours from the public sidewalk on the perimeter of the campus. Thereafter, the ministry visited the University of Southern Maine and the University of Maine, where the Word of God went forth all day to scores of students.
College campuses are often dark places. Many students are involved in a variety of grievous sins and are indoctrinated with secular philosophies that lead them further away from God. Please pray that those who heard the word of God proclaimed will repent and turn to Christ.
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the holy is understanding." - Proverbs 9:10
Victory in Winchester!
The City of Winchester, Virginia has agreed to change its municipal noise ordinance, which criminalizes sounds that "annoy" or disturb the "comfort" of another person.
The agreement comes as the result of the federal civil challege that RA brought against the city last year after Winchester police shut down the group's amplified preaching because one man claimed that he was "uncomfortable." The Rutherford Institute in Charlottesville represented the ministry in the case, which contended that Winchester's noise ordinance was unconstitutional.
Read The Rutherford Institute's news release about the victory.
After conceding in the matter, the City allowed Marcavage to make recommendations as to how the ordinance could be made constitutionally sound. Please pray that the recommendations will be implemented in full so that free speech will be protected for all citizens.
"And Paul [spent his days] preaching the kingdom of God and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him." - Acts 2:30-31
'Old Dominion' State Hears About the Dominion of Christ
RA spent a week in August proclaiming that Christ is King in cities throughout Virginia.
The outreach began as the ministry preached the word of God at a fair in Harrisonburg. The following morning, RA joined others to expose the reality of abortion outside of an abortion facility in Newport News. The ministry also preached on the boardwalk in Virginia Beach, outside of a mosque in Hampton and in the downtown mall area of Charlottesville.
As the preaching went forth on the boardwalk in Virginia Beach, a man named Victor who had received a tract approached Michael Marcavage and began to express concerns about where he would spend eternity. Michael witnessed to Victor and gave him a Bible. Please pray that the Lord will continue to work in Victor's heart and that he will put his trust in Christ for salvation.
"And [pray] for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the Gospel." - Ephesians 6:19
Seeking Salvation for New York City
It is estimated that over eight million people live in New York City, and thus it is one of the greatest places to share the Gospel.
In early August, RA spent a week proclaiming the word of God and the Gospel of Jesus Christ on the streets of New York City. The ministry preached in Times Square, Union Square Park, Washington Square Park and to those waiting in line to board a tourist boat to see the Statue of Liberty on Ellis Island.
Please pray for those that heard the Gospel proclaimed, and that they will come to repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
"But if our Gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost, in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious Gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them." - 2 Corinthians 4:3-4
