UPDATE - REPENT AMERICA PREACHES ABOUT TRUE FREEDOM ON INDEPENDENCE DAY, THOUSANDS HEAR THE GOSPEL DURING SUMMER OUTREACHES & MORE!

In this update: Read about RA's evangelistic outreach at the Liberty Bell on Independence Day; the ministry's travels this summer to preach the Gospel to thousands; its pending appeal in the Pennsylvania Supreme Court; its ongoing civil challenge in Winchester, Virginia and the behind-the-scenes counseling that takes place all year through RA's partnership with the website hopeforhomosexuals.com

Repent America Preaches About True Freedom on Independence Day

RA preaches at Independence Hall on the 4th of JulyRA preached the Word of God and the Gospel of Jesus Christ at Independence National Historical Park near the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall during Philadelphia's annual Fourth of July celebration, which attracts tens of thousands of spectators every year.

This year, the ministry vividly illustrated the reality of death and eternity as it preached next to an open coffin to those that were waiting in line to see the Liberty Bell. The crowds that passed were warned about the wages of sin and told of the freedom that is in Jesus Christ.

Two weeks after the outreach, the ministry received a powerful email from a man named Brahim who had been in the crowd that day. Brahim explained that he was a member of a group from Africa that had been officially invited to America by the U.S. State Department. While he was attending the Fourth of July celebration, the coffin caught his eye. He then saw that there was "a group of young preachers [that were there] to educate people on their inevitable fate: death." Brahim stated that he was thankful for "young believers in world completely drowned in materialism to try to save more people against the fate of Hell."

Shortly after he heard the preaching, Brahim received a phone call from his wife, notifying him that his father had passed away. Brahim, who stated that he is a Muslim, then exclaimed, "What [a] relationship between the coffin and preach[ing], [and] the death of my father, who was suffering from nothing (he was not sick)!"

RA replied to Brahim, expressing thankfulness that he had the opportunity to hear the message, while explaining the Word of God and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Please pray that this man, and the others who heard the message that was preached, will come to know the true freedom that is found in Christ alone.

"Stand fast, therefore, in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." - Galatians 5:1

Thousands Hear the Gospel During Summer Outreaches

Michael preaches outside of the casinos on the boardwalk in Atlantic City, NJ.Scripture states that every Christian is to redeem the time for the days are evil. While souls are entering into eternity every day, there is no time to waste. Therefore, RA has been making the most of every opportunity this summer to reach lives with the Word of God and the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and has preached to literally tens of thousands of people over the past two months.

On June 30th, during a trip to Virginia, the ministry joined other Christians in preaching in downtown historic Williamsburg, and then spoke to large crowds during the popular First Friday celebration the following night in Richmond. On July 6th, the ministry lifted up the name of Christ outside some of the popular casinos in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and then visited Washington Square Park in New York City the next day, and preached in the midst of angry and violent men who disdained the message of repentance.

RA has also been ministering regularly at Rittenhouse Square Park in Philadelphia and on the boardwalk in Seaside Heights, New Jersey. Although the Gospel has been met with resistance by both police officers and bystanders, a number of good conversations have taken place about God's command to the world to repent and trust in Christ for salvation.

While untold thousands have had the opportunity to hear the Gospel, there are still so many lost souls that need to be reached. Please pray that the Lord will continue to guide the ministry according to His Will.

"Walk in wisdom toward those that are without, redeeming the time. Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man." - Colossians 4:5-6

Pennsylvania Supreme Court Considers Appeal

The Cathedral Bascilica of Saints Peter and Paul

RA recently filed a Petition for Allowance of Appeal with the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, asking the court to hear the case of Commonwealth v. Michael Marcavage. The case surrounds Marcavage's arrest on April 3, 2010 while engaging in amplified preaching on a public sidewalk adjacent to a public park, which was across the street from the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, the "Mother Church" of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Unbeknownst to Marcavage, Cardinal Justin Rigali from the Basilica brought the congregation outside and also began speaking with amplification while Marcavage was preaching. Police arrested Marcavage under the false claim that using amplification in the city was illegal, while ironically, the cardinal was never confronted.

At his initial trial, Marcavage was wrongfully convicted of violating a section of the city's noise  ordinance that had been repealed years prior. Upon appeal, the prosecution tried to use the updated version of the repealed code against his preaching. While Marcavage was ultimately found not guilty of violating the noise ordinance, he was convicted of "Unreasonable Noise" under Pennsylvania's Disorderly Conduct statute. However, the law requires that the statute may only be applied to individuals that act with the intent to cause "public inconvenience, annoyance or alarm."

Upon further appeal, the Superior Court then examined Marcavage's motives, but twisted his words from the trial transcript as he recited from Romans 10:14 to explain his purpose for preaching that evening. In its decision, the court claimed that Marcavage stated that he wanted the people to "hear without a preacher," and believed that he intended to drown out the speaker at the Basilica. One judge dissented, citing Marcavage's First Amendment right to free speech and a lack of sufficient evidence to sustain a guilty verdict.

Please pray for the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania to grant the appeal as it is very selective in the cases it hears, and that our freedom would be protected by the courts as it is under constant attack.

"Every day they wrest my words; all their thoughts are against me for evil." - Psalm 56:5

Winchester Challenge Set for Trial

An undercover officer records the ministry at the 2010 Apple Blossom Festival.A federal court in Virginia is considering the civil challenge of Marcavage v. City of Winchester, which is soon set to go to trial.

The case surrounds a situation during the 2010 Apple Blossom Festival, a popular city-wide event that takes place in downtown Winchester, Virginia every year. During last year's festival, police officers forced Michael Marcavage to stop using amplification as he preached to the large and noisy crowds  because one individual told the officers that he was "not comfortable" with the ministry's activities. According to the city code, it is unlawful to disturb the comfort of another person, and therefore, law enforcement can shut down amplified speech due to a single complaint.

The Rutherford Institute has been representing the ministry in the case, during which Winchester Police Chief Kevin Sanzenbacher admitted in filed court documents to assigning an undercover officer to record the ministry at the 2010 festival. Undercover officers were also seen recording a group of approximately 50 Christians who witnessed at this year's festival.

Please pray that the city's noise ordinance will be declared unconstitutional and will be required to be rewritten to provide fair standards that protect amplified free speech activity, including the public proclamation of the Word of God.

"Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the Word of the Lord may have free course and be glorified, even as it is with you, and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men, for all men have not faith." - 2 Thessaloniams 3:1-2

Repent America Gives Hope to Homosexuals

HopeforHomosexuals.comRA counsels individuals via email throughout the year through its partnership with the website HopeforHomosexuals.com. Over the past month, the ministry has received a number of requests for help from those who desire to be free from the homosexual lifestyle.

In addition to being devoured by the pull of man's fallen nature, childhood sexual abuse is also a common denominator among those who write. While numerous friends and family members request help for their loved ones, there are many who seek counsel for themselves, including those who are married that struggle with temptations to enter into an extramarital relationship.

It is always an encouragement when those that are counseled respond with a note of gratitude. One of the ministry's favorite emails came from a man named Warren who wrote:

"Thank you so much for the support. I know God will bless and reward you greatly. When ... we stand before the judgment seat of Christ, you are going to be one of the first people I want to meet in person. Thank you and just pray for me."

Please pray that the Lord will continue to use RA as His Word is shared, and that those who contact the ministry for help will be completely set free from homosexuality and live victoriously in Christ.

"If the Son, therefore, shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed." - John 8:36
