Shell Sells Its Metalworking Fluids Business to Houghton International
|Houghton International Inc., global manufacturer and supplier of industrial fluids and chemical management services, today announces that it has signed an agreement to acquire Shell's Metalworking and Metal Rolling Oils business. The transaction, anticipated to close in early 2011, is subject to regulatory approval. |
Houghton and Shell Metal Working and Metal Rolling Oils are prominent specialty fluid manufacturers in the global metal working and metal rolling fluids marketplace.
"This acquisition will bring together two complementary organizations that will benefit from combining two talented teams and the integration of best practices" said Paul DeVivo, CEO of Houghton International Inc. "The transaction will better enable Houghton to provide its global technology and application capabilities to a broader customer base," said Mr. DeVivo.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Champion Brands Enters the Hot Rod Market
Champion Brands has developed full synthetic and synthetic blend motor oils for the classic, vintage, hot rod, and muscle car market. Champion Hot Rod Oils are designed to protect high performance engines by replacing the vital additives that have been removed from current API spec oils. Champion Hot Rod Oils are available in 10W-30 and 20W-50 synthetic blend grades and 15W-50 full synthetic.
Champion Brands' Hot Rod Oils are purpose build for vintage, classic, hot rod and muscle cars that need more protection than current API specification motor oil can provide.
Champion Hot Rod Oil's high zinc and phosphorous formula is designed to deliver the correct balance of chemistry to protect vintage and high performance engines, especially those using flat tappet and/or roller cams operating at high RPM's and requiring high-pressure (stiff) valve springs.
These products contain Champion Brands' proprietary TVS® (Thermal Viscosity Stabilizer) which extends oil film capacity for better protection at high temperatures.
