Hello Readers!

The other day I was having a conversation with a biking friend who mentioned she had a dream of being a poster child for the 70's and above age group. She said she was buckling down on her eating, biking as much as possible, and is joining a gym. Below I have an article about an astonishing 94-year old woman who is still participating in track and field events, and this woman was my friend's inspiration.

You know my response was enthusiastic, as of course I always feel that our maximum potential is just another bike ride away. I am amazed at the strength and endurance increases that are possible by just doing it, what "it" is for you, over and over again. No matter what your age you can get stronger and more vibrant. 

But some of you have not even started. You might be in your 70s or older and are saying"its too late for me, why bother". The answer to that is 'baloney!".

A HEALTHY & HAPPY COOKING CLASS!

LEAN HEALTHY BASICS  
This is the only time of year my schedule allows me to teach so I am sneaking in a cooking class. I am reaching out to anyone who does not cook, but wants to learn.

The secret to long term weight loss and management is cooking your own meals, as most of you know. Let me show you easy basics, and throw in secret sauces, spices and other ingredients which make short-cutting easy, yet healthy.

In this class I will start from scratch: chopping the vegetables and other ingredients for all of you to see efficient techniques. I will do the calculations with you to figure out how much we should make. I will make entrees with variations, including discussing vegetarian and vegan options, side dishes and desserts, all using healthy ingredients, specifically aimed at weight loss, as well as being very quick and easy to prepare.
You just watch and then eat! I will serve up a delicious and nutritious meal at the end of the class.

 This 4-hour demonstration will give you a vast quantity of information you can use for life in all your cooking. And you will get all the printed recipes and detailed information to take home as well! This class is ideal for everyone who is a novice or non-cook.

I am teaching at Lomitas Schoolhouse, which has a state-of-the-art kitchen, and is a beautiful light and lovely space.

If this woman is not an inspiration I don't know who would be. At 94 years old she still competes in track and field events and is articulate, smart and wise. Well worth watching this 2 minute video, which is an ad for a book about her.

This video is a fascinating bit of science demonstrated quite by accident and very innocently by a darling 9 year old girl. It really does make you think twice about buying non-organic produce.
