happy new year!

Hello Readers!

It is hard to believe it is already almost 2014...They say as you get older time speeds up, and I will say for me it feels like this year flew by.

So now is a time for reflection for many of us. How was this year? Did we reach our goals; did we manifest our dreams? Did we get done what we planned to do, or are there still garages which need cleaning, jobs which need changing, and pounds that need losing? I am imagining for some we did not accomplish all we had hoped, but perhaps a piece of what we envisioned did, in fact, come to pass.

I know there were transformational things which happened in this past year for many of us. Sometimes the trick is recognizing them as transformational. Yes, a wedding, a birth, a death: these are events we can see will affect us forever. But other less obvious occurrences may seem insignificant at the time they happen, but in the long run they are life changing. Weight loss or gain can be like that. Perhaps this was the year you finally managed to lose a desired amount of weight. Who are you now? For those of us who have carried these pounds around for years, to lose them is like losing an arm or a leg, in a way. We change...we grow new arms and legs which have more power and strength. We feel different...we are different. We have transformed ourselves.

RECIPES!
It's January, so many of us are buckling down and trying to put a rein on our out of control eating over the holidays. One way to get back on top of things is to make one meal a day for the next week a big bowl of vegetable soup. Those of you who do or did Weight Watchers know the "zero-point" veggie soup idea, but in reality this is a great, super healthy and easy trick to bringing your weight back down after a binge.

Here are two different soup recipes which are both zero per serving. If you have 2 or 3 bowls it is not zero, but still quite low. These can also become full meals by the addition of protein, and carbs if desired. I have added ideas for each at the ends of the recipes. Enjoy!
