Just 10 short years ago I had no idea that my hour and a half long interview with Ride West would turn into a long-term career in the motorcycle business. With a history in fashion retail and a knack for rebuilding diesel engines, planting roots in a motorcycle shop was an unexpected twist, but we are talking BMW's!
Sure, I lacked a bit of confidence early on. What did I know other than motorbikes are cool? But I hit the ground running, never looking back, hoping I could make a difference bringing a new level of customer service to this industry. Behind the scenes there was more at play working in my favor. You see, Ann and Keith know something very important about people and employees - By giving them the freedom to explore their professional capacity, they will (hopefully) take ownership in themselves and the business, surpassing all expectations. Sly orchestrators of the bigger picture as I later discovered.
With such support and freedom grew internal energy and ultimately momentum which has driven me to reach for the next transition in my career. After great consideration, I have accepted a position as the Regional Sales Manager for Rev'It! Sport International (you've probably heard of them, or own some of their gear). In my new capacity, I can focus even more on helping Ride West (and dealers like them) continue to build relationships and their apparel business with a brand that already has a proven track record in motorcycle dealerships across the country (plug).
Of course I'll miss the employees, friendships and teamwork, but most of all the loyal customers who have made Ride West what it is today. I will remain local, so if you frequent Ride West's events, you'll probably see me from time to time. In the meantime, drop me a line or email, stop by and stay in touch. My last day will be Saturday, June 15th. After that, feel free to leave your contact info with Ride West and I'll get back to you.
Moving forward, please keep sending your gear inquiries to apparel@ridewest.com. Our "other" resident apparel expert Sean can help you make the right choice when it comes to all the best riding gear we have to offer. For OEM and aftermarket parts / accessories, Jeff Conlin is the king (parts@ridewest.com). You can also consult our Vintage and Airhead knowledge database, Darren. If it cools via air or oil, he knows. And Brian, the guy holding down the "fort" (or warehouse you might call it) is the guy who knows all, what's coming in, going out and where your special orders are in the process. But ultimately, all these characters are in the know.
It's been a great Ride out West! Thanks for the opportunity to serve your wonderful community, and thanks to everyone who helped make this the best 10 years of my career thus far!
Ride Safe,
Bill Niwa
