Feeling Well Begins with Eating Well.
The food we put in our mouth, is not simply
a momentary pleasure for our taste buds,
or a short-term way to satisfy a hungry tummy,
but has a much deeper purpose.

While we do take pleasure in every bite,
food, more importantly, is a powerful healer.
What we eat directly affects
our energy, our clarity, our weight, our balance,
our short term and our long term health,
our self-esteem, our brain, our organs, our cells,
our joy, our thoughts, our hormones
. . . get the idea?

If we accept this premise to be true,
doesn't it just make sense
to make the most out of every bite?

YES, it does!

Here are 5 of my favorite foods that will help super-charge your daily nutrition

AVOCADO is actually a fruit!
Rich in healthful, easily digested monounsaturated fat and vitamins, fiber and protein (more than protein than any other fruit) as well as potassium and folate, avocado is great for circulation, blood pressure, adrenal function and skin health when enjoyed both topically and internally.
FACT:
In addition to providing its own antioxidants, avocado also improves the absorption of antioxidants from other fruits and vegetables eaten at the same time!

CACAO is a small tree that produces large pods packed with dark brown seeds, from which comes cacao.
Possibly the world's most concentrated sources of antioxidants found in any food (scoring 95 500), cacao is also extremely high in magnesium, polyphenols, iron (one small 28 gram serving has 314% of RDA), and dietary fiber. This is chocolate in its original form, the way nature intended.
SUGGESTION:
Rather than turning to a processed, chemicalized, nutrient-void chocolate bar as a mid-afternoon snack, mix some cacao powder with water, spinach and a banana and enjoy a delicious, nutritious form of natural energy!

EDAMAME aka soybean, has been a cornerstone of Asian cuisine and nutrition for centuries!
Because most soy crops today are GMO, and with the controversy surrounding the connection between soy and breast cancer, Americans tend to shy away from enjoying this delightful member of the pea family.
QUICK OBSERVATION:
These doubters are also the same Americans who have no trouble eating meat or consuming dairy - just saying.  Soybeans contain a full complement of essential amino acids, fiber and photoestrogens, and make a great snack food as well.

FLAXSEEDS are the healthiest source of Omega-3 Fatty Acids, in either the plant or animal world!  Flaxseeds protect against heart disease, help combat cancer, and lower blood cholesterol by sending potentially carcinogenic substances out of the body. Coming to the aid of those who suffer with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) - been there, done that - flaxseeds are a great remedy for constipation.
TIP:
Buy the whole seeds and grind be
fore use to release the enzymes and allow the proteins, oils and fibers to activate and work their magic!

GARLIC is said to possess magical properties, according to the ancient Greeks!
A powerful cancer fighter, the sulfurous compounds found in garlic are touted for their ability to slow or prevent the growth of cancer and to stimulate the liver's detoxification function. Among some of its numerous beneficial properties, garlic is a natural antibiotic and, taken regularly, can build up resistance to infection and inflammation.
TIP:
Notice how you don't smell garlic until the clove is cut open? Always open up your garlic buds 5-10 minutes before use, to allow for full activation of the powerful, anti-cancer enzyme, allicin.
