There are Still a Few Openings for Horse Camp!

Summer Horse Camp has started. Camp will be held each week through the week of August 11th, excluding the week of July 4th.  While many campers already have their slot, some space remains for most weeks.

If you have kids or grandkids who want to attend horse camp at Trackrock Stables this Summer, we hope you will make your arrangements soon as Camp Weeks do fill up quickly.  Don't forget that you have to make separate reservations for horse camp, and for cabins or campsites. Make camping reservations by calling Trackrock Campground at 706-745-2402.

See our horse camp website for specific dates and experience requirements. Cost is $425 for each week.  Other fees, registration instruction and forms are available on our website.

To make reservations call the stables at 706-745-5252 or check out our website at  http://www.trackrockstables.com/horseCamps.html

If you are interested in a Horse Camp, but have questions please email Sonya at trackrockstables@windstream.net

July 4th Fun!

Come have fun July 4th Weekend at Trackrock in the mountains.  We will have hay rides both Friday and Saturday nights with plenty of opportunity for you and yours to see the back pastures, maybe some animals, and enjoy the evening. http://www.trackrock.com/onsite.html

All the usual fun of our playgrounds, hiking trails, fishing and swimming will be here at Trackrock, of course.  Don't forget to make advance reservations for horseback riding at the stables 706-745-5252.   http://www.trackrockstables.com/

Lots to do or lots of relaxing to do - rocking chairs and porch swings are always available!

There will be fireworks, weather permitting, at several locations around Trackrock.  Look below to checkout more July 4th events in the listing of "What's Happening..." .

Off Road Vehicles at Trackrock

Due to increased numbers of Off Road Vehicles at the campground all ORVs (including but not limited to golf carts, 4 wheel all terrain or utility vehicles, or dirtbikes), MUST be registered at check-in and may only be driven by licensed drivers. All guests bringing ORVs will be asked to sign a copy of the ORV Guidelines at the time of registration. They are also available by email upon request.

We, our insurance company (and your fellow guests) appreciate your understanding & cooperation!

August Group Camping Sale

It is difficult for us to host groups during June, July and October.  However, August is a great time to camp with your friends and family in the North Georgia Mountains and we have more flexibility.  So we are offering 3 sites for the price of 2 sale.  Get a couple of friends to join you, one of you calls 706-745-2420 to make a reservation for 3 sites and the 3 of you will only be charged for 2 sites.  As always, we will do our best to accommodate your specific site requests.  This is an expandable offer so you could get 6 sites for the price of 4, and so on.  This offer is valid from August 1 through August 28th; not valid for Labor Day Weekend.

Camping Etiquette 142: Hot Weather Camping

Summer season is especially associated with camping because most kids already have the summer off and you may also be able to take vacation time from your work. Moreover summer weather is usually sunny and pleasant. All these factors favor going on a camping trip. But camping in hot weather also brings some challenges. To face these challenges, here are some tips:

  • Take a battery powered fan with you. If you are going with family, then take fans for each tent. If your tent has a rain fly you can also remove it during the night. This will allow night breeze to come in your tent.

  • Set up your camp in a shady area.

  • You need to have proper clothing items with you when going on a summer camping trip. Take light-colored clothes with you made with breathable fabric. Also take hats with you.

  • In hot weather, you can become a victim of dehydration. To avoid dehydration, make sure you drink plenty of water when hiking, biking or other active sports. Sports beverages such as Gator Aide can help replace electrolytes in the body.

  • Make cool meals during a hot weather camping trip like green salads, grilled chicken, fruits, sandwiches and vegetables.

  • Do not forget to bring a good quality sunscreen.

  • Plan your activities according to weather conditions. For example, during the morning do more strenuous activities such as biking or hiking. Plan a swimming activity in afternoon or evening.

Don't Miss The Herb Crib!

The Herb Crib is located less than 1 mile from the Campground.  In addition to the wonderful herbal products, you will find a wide variety of potted herbs and lovely annuals & perennial plants for sale.

Fresh herbs, garden gifts and herbal body products are available. Good cooks know that fresh herbs are tastier than the dried and bottled ones from the store. Grow your own; it takes very little room. Karin can set you up with plants and provide suggestions about growing them. It is a MUST SEE when you are in the neighborhood - a simply beautiful garden experience!

Hours are Wednesday thru Sunday from 10am until 3pm.  www.herbcrib.com
