Memorial Day Fun!

Memorial Day Weekend will be full of fun at Trackrock and in the mountains.  We will have hay rides both Saturday and Sunday nights. Plenty of opportunity for you and yours to see the back pastures, maybe some animals, and enjoy the evening. http://www.trackrock.com/onsite.html

All the usual fun of our playgrounds, hiking trails, fishing and swimming will be here at Trackrock, of course.  Don't forget to make advance reservations for horseback riding at the stables.   http://www.trackrockstables.com/

On Saturday, be sure to attend the Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony in Downtown Blairsville.  For more Memorial Day events, check out "What's Happening..." below.

Off Road Vehicles at Trackrock

Due to increased numbers of Off Road Vehicles at the campground all ORVs (including but not limited to golf carts, 4 wheel all terrain or utility vehicles, or dirtbikes), MUST be registered at check-in. All guests bringing ORVs will be asked to sign a copy of the ORV Guidelines at the time of registration. Guidelines are available by email upon request.

We (and your fellow guests) appreciate your understanding & cooperation!

June's Premier Event

Have you been to the Blairsville Scottish Festival and Highland Games? Well, if not, you could be in for a big treat! The Blairsville Scottish Festival and Highland Games will be held on Saturday, June 14th and Sunday, June 15th.

To find more info about the Games, check out their website at www.blairsvillescottishfestival.org

The Herb Crib is Open for the Season!
Fresh herbs, garden gifts and plants are available. Good cooks know that fresh herbs are tastier than the dried and bottled ones from the store. Grow your own; it takes very little room. Karin can set you up with plants and provide suggestions about growing them. Less than 1 mile from Trackrock! It is a MUST SEE when you are in the neighborhood - a simply beautiful garden experience! www.herbcrib.com\

Campground Etiquette 141

There are certain unspoken rules when you camp- laws of the land, if you will. Knowing these rules can keep you and your family from being labeled as rude, obnoxious or a newbie.  These rules have been passed down from generation to generation.

  1. Quiet time is for being quiet.
  2. Campers are some of the friendliest people you will meet. Be friendly. Have fun. But always respect your camping neighbor's space.
  3. Leave no trace behind.  Clean up your mess and don't destroy nature while at the campground.
  4. Don't feed animals at the campsites.  Wild animals are like mooching friends- feed them and they will never leave.  They may become aggressive as they demand more food.  This is not safe for your family or for future campers.
  5. Don't leave food out at night.  Contain it or hang it.  Secure food in airtight containers or hang from a tree limb or hook.
  6. Don't bring firewood with you. Buy firewood at the campground where you are camping.  Moving firewood long distances transports insects and disease and may destroy trees and forests. Visit www.dontmovefirewood.org for more information and guidelines.
  7. Playing music at your campsite is fine.  Blaring music is not.
  8. Honesty is the best policy, even while camping.  We believe in the honor system.
  9. When fishing at the campground, if someone catches a fish, don't try to force your way into their fishing spot. That is just rude.
  10. Place grey water in grey water drains located in campground or other approved dumping stations.  Grey water is waste water from washing dishes, laundry and bathing.  Dumping grey water into the environment has been found to be a significant risk to public health due to the large amount of bacteria in the water.
  11. Never leave your campfire unattended and always completely extinguish your campfire when you are done with it.  As Smokey says, "Only you can prevent forest fires."

Respect nature.  Respect the animals.  And respect the other campers.
