It's time to consider heading to the mountains and to enjoy a getaway at Trackrock!  We have lots of spots open for weekday stays and the last two weekends in October and on into November.

Days have been absolutely beautiful and we have some early Fall color showing.  Dogwoods and sourwoods are just starting to turn!  Wonderful cool temps and clear, blue skies.  Great weather to enjoy hiking, biking, horseback riding, campfires or just relaxing in the beautiful North Georgia Mountains!

Fall is full of activities and a great time to visit Trackrock!   Imagine cool, crisp breezes, amazing Fall color, great festivals. It's a great time for outdoor activities. Take a hike, see waterfalls, fish in the pond, take a hayride or horseback ride. Or just sit and enjoy the quiet beauty.

Whether you plan to make a day trip, take a long weekend, or spend a week, make plans to enjoy watching the mountain colors turn from green to a palette of wonderful color into early November! You'll be glad you did and we will be glad to see you!

Come spend some time with us this Fall!

When is Peak Weekend?

To us here at Trackrock, it looks like color will peak later in the month.  Last year Mother Nature made us wait until the first week in November!

Wet fall weather produces more red leaves, dry weather produces more vivid colors.  Tempurature and amount of daylight are fall color factors also.

Out and About At Trackrock...

She'll Be Coming Down the Mountain...

She's very subtle.  You'll first notice that little chill in the evening air.  Next you might hear sounds that make you think of her, the crackle of a late evening fire, a certain rustle of the leaves as you take a stroll along a trail, and then before you know it she's here! Lady Autumn has arrived in all her gloriously colored finery!

After experiencing Trackrock in the fall, I can say it's like no other fall season I've seen anywhere.  Surrounded by our beautiful mountains year-round, you start to notice just at the tip-top peaks a difference in the shades of the trees.  As the days in fall go by you'll see that bit of color, the golds, reds, yellows and everything in between, slowly come down the mountain.  If you could fast forward a video camera and point it toward our mountains, I have no doubt Lady Autumn would appear to be pulling down a multicolored shade over the greenness of summer, just a bit at a time.  It's a sight to behold!

Now is the time to get out that light jacket, stack up the firewood, go for that late afternoon horse back ride or stroll and enjoy the ambiance of Mother Nature in her beautiful new clothing.  Hot dogs, s'mores and campfire stories go well together around the crackle of the fire in evening-time.

Folks visiting Trackrock can enjoy the laid back comfort of fall for weeks on end, starting late August and early September, first with the deep reds and not ending until the last yellow leaf falls from the maples in November.  If you've never experienced Trackrock in the fall, why not start this year?

"October gave a party; The leaves by hundreds came. The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples, and leaves of every name. The Sunshine spread a carpet, and everything was grand, Miss Weather led the dancing, Professor Wind the band."  -George Cooper

Campground Etiquette 112

RVing is supposed to be fun. And some simple campground etiquette helps to keep it that way for everyone. Some tips on minding your campground manners...to make your stay enjoyable

  1. Follow the rules: Following these rules is one of the basics of campground etiquette. It makes things easier for everyone involved - you, your neighbors and the park operators.
  2. Eliminate pet peeves: Pick up after your pets. Stop excessive or extended barking. Don't leave a howling dog unattended to bother the neighbors. Use a leash.
  3. Parking the rig:  Sometimes it is very clear how to orient the rig on a site. But in many cases, the only guidepost will be the hookup for electric and sewer. General campground etiquette is to stay on your side of that hook-up, and not have awnings or slide-outs encroaching on the site next door.
  4. Late arrivals: If you are arriving at a park after normal quiet hours, attempt some degree of stealth behavior. Keep the set-up to the minimum required for the night. The same courtesy should be used if you are making an early morning departure.
  5. Washing the RV: Most campgrounds will not allow washing to avoid wasting water, high water bills, muddy sites, etc. Ask at the office.  . You usually have to get by with a small bucket and rag and/or waterless cleaner to just do minimal spot cleaning.
  6. Around the campfire: Before you light it, make sure it is permitted, and follow any rules the campground may have. Do not use your firepot as a garbage can. There is sure to be a trash can available in your rig or on the park premises.
  7. Do unto others: When in doubt, follow the golden rule. If you aren't sure of the proper campground etiquette for something, think about how you would like to be treated.
