Happy Early Fall, Y'all!

It's just late August, and we've had some nice, cool, crisp mornings!  Highs have been in the hi-70's, lows in the upper 50's.  Great weather to enjoy hiking, biking, horseback riding, campfires or just relaxing in the beautiful North Georgia Mountains!

Fall is full of activities and a great time to visit Trackrock!   Think of cool, crisp breezes, amazing Fall color, great festivals. It's a wonderful time for outdoor activities. Take a hike, see waterfalls, fish in the pond, take a hayride or horseback ride. Or just sit and enjoy the quiet beauty.

Whether you plan a short getaway, take a long weekend, or spend a week, make plans to enjoy watching the mountain colors turn from green to a palette of wonderful color into early November! You'll be glad you did and we will be glad to see you!

Come spend some time with us this Fall!

Campground Etiquette 111

Important Things Not To Do!

I love to camp!  However, a bad camping trip can make the pleasures of home seem awfully enticing.  A great one can remind you of how magical camping can be--given the right circumstances and neighbors.

No matter where you pop your tent or park your rig, there area several things to remember not to do:

  • Don't check in late at night - it's dark out there!
  • Don't drive too fast - there could be children in the road!
  • Don't cut live trees or branches   -- that's the shade you requested
  • Don't leave your fire unattended - Smokey the Bear appreciates this
  • Don't bring a barking dog - your neighbors REALLY appreciate this one!
  • Don't ignore quiet hours - again, think of your neighbors!
  • Don't play your music too loud - ditto!
Make Your Horseback Riding Reservations Early!

During October, many folks enjoy riding with cooler weather and the beautiful fall leaves.  Book your reservations early, as the rides fill up quickly in October and advance reservations are a must!  Call 706-745-5252 and they will be pleased to schedule your adventure.  http://www.trackrockstables.com

Out and About At Trackrock...

She'll Be Coming Down the Mountain...

She's very subtle.  You'll first notice that little chill in the evening air.  Next you might hear sounds that make you think of her, the crackle of a late evening fire, a certain rustle of the leaves as you take a stroll along a trail, and then before you know it she's here! Lady Autumn has arrived in all her gloriously colored finery!

After experiencing Trackrock in the fall, I can say it's like no other fall season I've seen anywhere.  Surrounded by our beautiful mountains year-round, you start to notice just at the tip-top peaks a difference in the shades of the trees.  As the days in fall go by you'll see that bit of color, the golds, reds, yellows and everything in between, slowly come down the mountain.  If you could fast forward a video camera and point it toward our mountains, I have no doubt Lady Autumn would appear to be pulling down a multicolored shade over the greenness of summer, just a bit at a time.  It's a sight to behold!

Now is the time to get out that light jacket, stack up the firewood, go for that late afternoon horse back ride or stroll and enjoy the ambiance of Mother Nature in her beautiful new clothing.  Hot dogs, s'mores and campfire stories go well together around the crackle of the fire in evening-time.

Folks visiting Trackrock can enjoy the laid back comfort of fall for weeks on end, starting late August and early September, first with the deep reds and not ending until the last yellow leaf falls from the maples in November.  If you've never experienced Trackrock in the fall, why not start this year?

"October gave a party; The leaves by hundreds came. The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples, and leaves of every name. The Sunshine spread a carpet, and everything was grand, Miss Weather led the dancing, Professor Wind the band."  -George Cooper
