All the usual fun of our playgrounds, hiking trails, fishing and swimming will be here at Trackrock, of course.  Don't forget to make advance reservations for horseback riding at the stables.   http://www.trackrock.com/stables

On Saturday, be sure to attend the Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony in Downtown Blairsville.  For more Memorial Day events, check out "What's Happenin..." below.

Things to forget if you are a "rookie"...

6) Forget towels - If you like to really get into nature and don't mind getting a little "ripe" smelling during your camping trip, then by all means leave your bath towels at home. Otherwise take towels. You are camping, not staying at a hotel.

7) Forget chairs - New campers tend to forget they will want a place to sit outside while camping and forget to bring chairs. It usually results in a trip to the nearest discount store for some folding chairs.

8) Don't bring water - Unless you have a camping unit with water hookups and water hookups at your campsite, you'll want some jugs and/or coolers of water for drinking, washing up, and rinsing vegetables.

9) Don't bring a flashlight or lantern - It's fun trying to find your way to the bathroom at night without a flashlight or lantern, right? It might be, until you trip over a tree. Take a flashlight and extra batteries.

10) Make a Lot of Noise - Noise carries when outside in large open spaces. A conversation spoken in normal tones can easily be heard by the people in nearby campsites so don't say bad things about your neighbors.

11) Don't Buy Antibacterial Wipes - You'll be camping outside where it's dirty and will likely be using the campground bathroom. How dirty do you want your hands to be? Will you want to use those hands to eat food?

These are 11 great ways to let everyone in the campground know you are brand new at camping and should be watched closely because new campers typically have a high "entertainment" value. It's fun to watch them mess things up!

Two Ways to Save on Fuel...

Option #1:  Save on your fuel cost and your stress level. No need to drive that rig through traffic and across the mountain. We have storage available for trailers 36' or less and 5th wheels 30' or less. Store with us - we will park your rig on your favorite site and you can start to enjoy your weekend as soon as you arrive.

Option #2:  We have two annual sites left for the coming year at Trackrock. Email us for more details. trackroc@windstream.net

Out & About...

When Mother Nature Speaks, Trackrock Listens...

While visiting Trackrock have you ever taken the time to look around at nature? Really, look around at nature! Look up! What do you see? Yes, the beautiful mountains, that's to be expected. But take a closer look at the many trees, tall ones, short ones, fat and skinny ones, all beautiful in their natural spring attire right now. Look down! The natural beauty of the vines, wild flowers, rocks, and grass are all around you. Now look around! It all combines to make Trackrock one of the prettiest places you'll ever visit.

How did our surroundings get this way? By carefully planning the layout of the campground with as little altering of Mother Nature as possible. The streams, lakes and dams are in their places for this reason. The grassy expanses are there, not only for your pleasure, but to help avoid erosion of the land.. And the trees? The only ones that are ever cut here are the diseased or damaged-beyond-repair ones.

Trackrock has grown into this mecca of beauty by everyone involved, both owners and guests, being good stewards of our natural resources.

The next time you need firewood, and decide to 'just cut down this small tree', or the kids need a place to play and you decide to 'just let them slide down the banks', remember you're hurting Mother Earth. And Mother Earth never forgets. The tree will never have a chance to grow and the bank now will be bare of its natural growth and erosion will occur.

There are dead twigs galore if you look around your campsite and two beautiful playgrounds are here for all the climbing and sliding anyone can possibly enjoy.

By the same token, we should all keep bicycles, motorcycles, recreational off road vehicles and cars/trucks on the roadways and parking areas and not use any grassy areas for drivng or parking.

So please, while visiting and enjoying all the natural beauty around you, we certainly want you to have the best experience possible, but be ever mindful and respectful of Mother Nature and she'll be ours to enjoy for generations yet to come.

Trackrock and The Great Mother Earth thanks you.
